I totally would have given this place 5 stars 6 months ago... but it has declined since then. Every time I come here, the fish smell in the restaurant gets stronger and stronger... and the quality of the food has declined as well. The riptide roll is my go-to and always delicious. They usually have nigiri/sashimi but that wasn't available. The grilled asparagus has a delicious chimichurri sauce on top. The asparagus is usually thick and hearty but today it was thin and flimsy. My parents ordered the ahi tuna which had a spectacular presentation but the tuna was chewy. I really hope they go back to what they were doing before.. read more

We stopped by for a little seafood. While most of the table order blackened grouper with broccolini or the lobster special I wasn't very hungry. I ordered the small side salad as did everyone else. It was larger than expected and very good! My entree was a California roll. It was much larger than served at Chinese restaurants so my husband grabbed a few! Very nice sea scape decor. We made reservations for 7:30, checked in probably around 7:35 because there was a very long line to check in. At check in the hostess told us she couldn't find our reservations, she also couldn't find the reservations for the group behind us. We had to wait about 15-20 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, but it wasn't too bad. Our server was very nice, but seemed overwhelmed. My drink was empty most of the meal and I had to ask and remind that I needed a refill a few times. The food was decent. My husband had the fried trigger fish with asparagus and grits. He said the fish tasted great. The asparagus was really good. Our daughter had the crab leg with a side of mac n cheese. She enjoyed the crab legs, but they oddly had barely any meat in them. Some legs were just empty, no idea how that happens. Her mac and cheese was good but arrived to the table cold. She ate it anyways and commented on it being well seasoned. Other daughter ordered the sushi, but didn't care for it. I think she was expected krab, not actual crab, so that is not on the restaurant at all. My fried shrimp was good, the truffle fries were delicious with the aioli that came with them. My "side" of coleslaw was literally one teaspoon of coleslaw. I was full from my meal plus the hush puppies we shared so I didn't complain, we ended the meal with a slice of key lime pie which was really delicious. I would probably go back again. Been here twice now. The first visit was so fabulous I brought my mom for Mother's Day early dinner. The second time wasn't as great as the first. I ordered the lobster roll and it was fishy and for $35 that's disappointing but everything else we got was really good. The blackened grouper nuggets to start were delightful but don't try to pick up the butter to pour it over, the cup decided to snap on me and I took a butter bath . We also got calamari and it was cooked really well. But my favorite was the hush puppies man were those amazing, the jam was a really smart pairing. My mom and mother in law both really enjoyed their food and we or course finished it out with the strawberry cheesecake. The texture of that was so different but in a really good way. We had a bit of a snafu at the end where we had to track down our waiter to pay... probably added a solid 20 minutes to our visit. We visited this spot two weeks in a row! We had been here before for their happy hour and had a great time. On our second visit, we went on a Tuesday for their endless shrimp special, and wow did we take full advantage of it! We were so stuffed afterward that I promised myself I wouldn't have shrimp again for a few months lol. It was totally worth it especially for me and my husband. On our third visit, we went on a Wednesday to try their $0.60 shucked oysters. We opted for steamed oysters but they were on the smaller side. We probably should've gone with the raw oysters as steaming tends to shrink them. Since it was happy hour we also ordered some of our favorites such as calamari, grouper bites, and California roll. Drinks were half-off, so I went with an IPA and a cider for my husband. The service was a bit slower this time since it was a Wednesday and they were busy with all those oysters, but I totally understand, it's not easy shucking that many! We had a wonderful experience here. My dad was craving some crab legs and he chose this restaurant. Brain, our waiter did a wonderful job. He gave us great recommendations and made jokes with the kids. My dad enjoyed the crab legs, the kids loved their salmon, my mom loved her fried trigger fish, and I really enjoyed my scallops and plantains. I haven't had plantains with goat cheese and balsamic before, it was a unique combination. The portions were good size as well. We all had leftovers! It's easy to miss a truly unique restaurant among the clutter but the Julington Creek Fish and Oyster house is someplace worth seeking out. First impressions on this small operation was good food but slow service. For the food, we had one of best clam chowder soups ever, absolutely jam packed with clam, potatoes in a heavy cream broth with a buttery flavor. Yum! On top of that we had oysters topped with Romano and parmesan cheese and a buttery sauce. Finally, completing our appetizer only meal we had their fish bites, a very tender collection of grilled grouper. All three really hit the spot! The restaurant has a bar separated from the dining room by a knotted rope half wall. Now as for service, while the server was friendly, it was pretty slow. We asked for the soup to come out first but all the dishes came out at once. We thought about trying a dessert but eventually gave up when our server didn't return for quite some time and we noticed others waiting for their dessert orders. However, we will be back and give them another chance because of the food, they deserve it. And so do we! read more

I was in Fruit Cove getting my phone fixed & looking for a place for lunch. After finding out about 4 places we tried nearby are closed for lunch we decided on JCFOH. I've been here for dinner several times & always enjoyed. We were seated quickly and presented with the Happy Hour menu as well as a new menu just previewed today. We chose two apps on the HH menu, spring rolls and bang bang shrimp. The spring rolls could have been much crispier and didn't have a lot of filling but were tasty. The shrimp were very large and delicious. My husband also ordered a shrimp po'boy which came with fries. It was a large sandwich and a good portion of fries. He said it was very good. I ordered a bowl of crab stew. It came with a small piece of corn bread floating on top. It also had some sort of oil drizzled on it. I had a spoonful or two. Our 6:15 p.m. reservation was honored without issue, and the restaurant was moderately busy with patrons enjoying lobster or crab legs priced at $12.99 per pound. Service was good, and pricing was appropriate. The generous, tasty sides accompanying the lobster included truffle fries, mac and cheese, and sweet plantains. Some of us indulged in beverages from the bar. It was like in and out. No water, rolls or happy hour menu told. It was our first time and Im not a fan of the Fish House. Rockerfeller oysters, I had better. However, wifey loved the crab souffle. The waygu burger was juicy and fries were hot. The over the top moments were the lemon drops and the banana bread a la mode. There are other restaurants in the area to try. We stopped in here for my husband's birthday and Sarah took such great care of us. From the time we were seated to the time we left everything was so nice. We started with the oysters and calamari. I had the Tuesday special, 20 jumbo shrimp, coleslaw and had to try the pimento cheese grits. My husband had the trigger fish and grouper with coleslaw and the sweet potato soufflé. Had a bumpy start find this place as my wife had mixed up with another restaurant with a similar name. But once there, we found the place with a well balanced decor for a seafood restaurant. The service was great and Jessica was very professional and friendly, tending to our requests. The food was great, portions were ample and tasty. Prices were on par for the overall quality and menu items we chose. My wife had a blackened shrimp salad with glazed carrots on the side. I had the salmon dish which came on a bed of arugula and fried rice with the glazed carrots as well. I also ordered the plantains side item, which was uniquely prepared with chorizo and parmasan cheese. Stopped by Julington Creek Fish House while in Jacksonville, and it did not disappoint! The oysters were some of the best I've ever had, and I finally got to try gator bitessssss & so good, I didn't even get a picture before they were gone. I came starving and left happy, with everything being a 10/10. Our waitress, Britney, was super friendly. Have been trying to get to Julington Creek Fish House & Oyster Company since I heard they had opened and having been at the sister restaurant The Boathouse in Ponte Vedra I knew we had to go sooner rather then later and we finally made it for weekend brunch! We made a reservation for 10:30AM just because we were not sure how busy it would be. We we arrived it wasn't busy at all but after about an hour it quickly had picked up. Went looking over the brunch menu there we a number of options I was interested in but wasn't ready to commit just yet so we bought sometime and I started off with bottomless mimosas for $12.99. You can't beat that during these times. The brunch menu has a lot of typical brunch options as well as some seafood options you don't see all that often so that's the direction I went with. I ordered the Grouper N' Grits and was able to get the Grouper Blackened. I will say once ordered we didn't see our waitress all that much but she did top our mimosas up pretty high so didn't need that much service once it came down to it. Once our food came out mine looked great. I large filet of grouper well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Some of the best grouper I have had probably since the Boathouse but this might have actually been better. The grits we also full of flavor and the servicing size was huge it was very good. I will say I was the one who enjoyed my meal the most though. Ashley had the Avocado Toast which she said was just OK. My mother in law had the Lump Crab Benny which she also thought was just alright. I will say I did try it and thought it was good. I will say it is just pieces of Lump Crab and not a Crabcake like most are used too. I will say I for sure plan to come back for both brunch as well as dinner sometime. Oh my goodness this seafood restaurant is amazing. The layout is cozy and inviting. The decor is beautiful (even in the restroom I loved the flamingo wallpaper). Our server Julianna was fantastic, very helpful with questions about the menu offerings. My husband had the crab Cobb salad and I had the fish stew (I was skeptical but it was AMAZING). Weather warmed up, sun was out and so was I at JC Fish House for my 1st visit here! Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza. Glad I arrived for an early dinner visit to get a table facing the front entrance of the restaurant. Was warm and comfy getting the sun rays inside while relaxing in the comfy and clean dining area. My server Señor Ashton was courteous, friendly and professional. The "Just Caught Sandwich" platter I ordered was the fried grouper sandwich. It came with my choice of truffle fries! Every bite I took, I was amazed by the overall freshness of the food and the great flavors. Seafood fan as I have so many great options to choose from. I was not impressed. I was disappointed with the things that I had seen on yelp that I was really wanting to try like the fried oyster, deviled eggs and some other fancy dishes. Their sushi taster was entirely too thick, cut their oyster Rockefeller, which I was looking forward to because I love eating the southern style in Savannah Georgia. They barely put on any collard greens. The seared tuna was barely seared. For the life of me, I do not understand the 4 and 5 star reviews. We came here to try since our usual establishment was closed due to a private party. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and the oysters were good but that was the only positive to our visit. Aside from that, the food we ordered was either too salty or too bland. There was an unpleasant smell in the restaurant and the tables and floors had a slightly grimy feel. Do yourselves a favor, skip this place, and go right up the street to Julington Creek Fish Camp. The food, drinks, and service are always consistently good there, and we know for sure we are getting fresh food at that establishment; not to mention, the view! I really like these Fish houses! I have been to the one in St Aug and this one the julington creek both were so nice! I would say Fancy approachable seafood restaurants! Food was delicious at both and I love they have nightly specials and happy hour! We got: glass of wine, 2 HH apps, kids meal with drink, whole lobster dinner with a huge side of sweet potato soufflé with a grand total of about $50, love it! Look up their nightly specials! We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day this year at Julington Creek Fish House and Oyster Co, but also we came for the dollar oyster night. Although we weren't big fans of the oysters - they were big but pretty watery and tasteless. Everything else was amazing. We had the wahoo, which was in special, and the whole fried snapper. When the snapper came out, I was absolutely stunned by how big it was. The service was also very attentive and friendly. Overall, I would recommend for date night, and I would definitely be going back to try their lobster night. read more

We had a reservation for 6:45 for a party of 4 on a Friday and were seated at 6:50. At 8:00 we asked the server if our salads were ready. She went back to the kitchen and said it would be a couple of more minutes. Brought the salads. Our entrees came out 5 minutes later, except for 1 of them, which was an appetizer of bang bang shrimp that was ordered as an entree. One person in our party ordered a hamachi yellowtail tuna which tasted funny and had an odd color. The server had the item removed from the bill and did offer complimentary dessert for the wait. We told her that was not necessary. One person in our party ordered the whole fish and loved it. The other had crab legs and said they were very good. When the bang bang shrimp was served it was dry and overcooked, almost as though it had been fried twice. We have been to the restaurant before and had a much better experience, so maybe it was an off night, but to wait 80 minutes before any food was served was excessive: They were busy, but not packed, the server was doing what she could, but the kitchen was not keeping up. read more

One thing about me, I love a brunch! When Mike told me a new brunch places opened up near us we knew we needed to check it out. I ordered the avocado toast and a side of eggs. The waitress did let me know that the eggs could only come scrambled so I got them scrambled. I also ordered a coffee. Everything I got was fine nothing was good but nothing was bad either. The avocado kind of tasted like an avocado spread more than fresh avocado which personally I don't like as much. I also really wanted an over easy egg so finding out I could only get scrambled was a bit disappointing. On the day we went the service wasn't the best but I don't think it totally was our waitress's fault as she seemed pretty busy so I am guessing they were understaffed that morning. All together this wasn't the best brunch experience but I do plan to give it another shot as Mike loved his food so I think it was a case of me ordering the wrong thing. read more

I drove an hour in traffic to try this restaurant. From my understanding, it's run by the same owners of Beach Road Fish house. We loved that place before they closed a while back. So we figured we'd drive out and give it a try. We checked in at 6:14pm and I was told there was a 30 minute wait. 30 minutes later, I was told it's going to be another 20 minutes. The hostess looked like a deer in headlights the entire time we were there. We were finally seated an hour after we arrived. It was busy so that I gave them grace. However, after we were seated and placed our order for 4 dozen oysters total (lightly steamed), we waited over an hour to receive food. Maybe 45 minutes in, I went ahead and requested 2 dozen more since we were waiting a ridiculously long time on oysters only. When we finally for the first 2 dozen, we informed them that they weren't lightly steamed they were well done and we asked for lightly steamed. They kept saying we'll let the kitchen know for the rest of your order. Then proceeded to bring every tray of oysters well done! With all the complaints I overheard, not once did I see a manager come out to talk to any of the tables. Piss poor service on their part. The only good thing about our night was the Florida Soul and Rae. Rae was great. She did the best she could with what was given to her, she was apologetic and asked them to comp part of our bill for the wait and asked again for an additional comp because all the food came out overcooked. They didn't comp the additional but I appreciate her for trying. I won't likely take the drive again. The experience was disappointing to say the least. read more
