When you show up to class, you don't really know what to expect. The word "class" brings many weird associations to all of us. I was never good at school, so I didn't know how this particular type of school would work out. I'm just so, so insanely grateful now. Corey has been a phenomenal teacher. He just has this ability to find the funny in you. He has this ability to help you understand comedy and see it as a craft. He's a good listener. He has little to no ego. That's one of the many things that makes him so good. You're not just there to listen and take notes. You'll be on stage early, first in front of your fellow students and then in front of up to 120 people. Being on stage like that can be a life-changing experience. Even though you're expected to joke and be funny, don't treat the class as a joke. You soon realize how much work goes into being funny, and that a five-minute set can feel like an eternity. You're forced to cut things out. You're forced to make your jokes better and more direct, sort of similar to how you're forced to keep reading this review of mine. Don't wait until you've done an open mic first. Don't wait. Don't be scared that you're not funny enough. Just show up on Sunday at the oldest comedy club in LA and do your best.

They have a wide selection of musical genres to satisfy the audience. They are great at reading what kind of music that the crowd wants to hear. I have seen them a number of different times in different settings. I know that right now they are playing every Friday at The Smokehouse in Burbank. A great place for live music. They play in the bar and lounge area, and play both a dinner set and a dance set. The audience is made up of different generations and the band and Rick are able to satisfy all musical tastes. I was at The Smokehouse not too long ago and was very pleased that Rick and the band were playing while I was enjoying conversation and food with my friend. While eating, we were serenaded by the great sounds of the band. They had a dinner set that featured many memorable songs. After a short break they came back with a dance set with a variety of danceable music, fast and slow. Many of the diners took to the dance floor. Rick dedicated a number of songs to special events that were happening as well as birthdays. He is a master host as well as a musician. I always know when Rick Whitfield is playing that I will have a great experience. I enjoy his original songs and the explanation of their origins from personal experiences. If you have a chance, see the Rick Whitfield band - you are sure to have a great time. One that will keep you smiling after you leave.

As for drinks, I ended up getting a spicy margarita mocktail and my partner got a regular margarita. Our drinks took forever to arrive, and when it did, I realized that my mocktail had alcohol in it. Since the drink was kinda sweet, you dont really taste the alcohol at first, but I started getting the Asian flush so there was definitely alcohol in it. Not a big deal for me since I dont mind the alcohol, but I'd imagine this could be serious for people who are avoiding alcohol (Allergies, pregnancy etc). Other than that, the venue is great. She worked with us to make sure it was a win-win for the group and the establishment. SO. MUCH. FUN. great live jazz music. Everyone there had great energy. It didn't even feel like we were in LA it felt like we were in NYC. End: Our server was so sweet and on top of it. She got our drinks to us as fast as possible and made sure we were taken care of. I emailed, called, instagram DMed. I didn't know if it would be TRULY ADA accessible-- but it was! I didn't get an answer to my digital attempts, but they had my name and info down so they clearly got the memo! I got let in through the parking lot. I'll admit in my chair it was a little rocky on their asphalt, but not impossible! I believe they had a ramp on the other end of the building, but I went as directed by their staff. I got to zip around the bar, restroom, and auditorium in a breeze! Everything was wheelchair accessible! Shout out to Candace at the bar for recommending their draft espresso martini! I felt like a little prince! The crowd during the show was so sweet. The venue had an ADA seat for me but it wasn't needed since I had my chair! Some folks let me get closer to the stage, and one of them happened to have historical knowledge on the venue. He told me when you're in, look out for the 4 authentic panels of art on the ceiling from the OG school that was there in the 1930-1940s! My partner told me Sid has been around for a while, but that this is there first ever venue. I've never been to the ones before this venue's existence, but count me impressed! As a disabled person, I'm overjoyed that I found Sid The Cat. Keep it here, we need this space forever.

Went…read morelast year for the first time and then twice this year to see both Production A (The Unnameable, the Chimes, and Cask of Amontillado) and Production B **new** (Casting the Runes, A Ghost Story, and The Body Snatcher). I brought a bunch of people with me to see Production A this year. It was amazing as always... Note to newcomers - if you are meeting people at the event, make sure that all members of your group receive the same color sticker on their program. You want to stay together in the same group. Also note that they have coffee, hot apple juice (which they insist on calling cider), and a few candy bars. $2 each or 2 items for $3. Bring cash, a jacket as you will be outside for a time, and comfortable shoes for walking and standing for short periods. The plays are immersive as you walk following the characters and story progression through the creepy and eeriliy lit long hallways of the mausoleum... and through the cemetery across the street. Most of the acting is great. Last night was unusual because they had BOTH productions going on at the same time. I was concerned that we would be running into each other in the corridors and we would lose the integrity of the individual plays with competing noise in the background. They actually handled it really well and there was only about 5 minutes when I was distracted by noise from another play. Production B was very good for the most part. I will not forget the images from Casting the Runes and The Body Snatcher. The Ghost Story however, started out GREAT but then the second half was kind of ridiculous. What annoyed me most was the fact that because it wasn't as long as the other plays and they all had to end at the same time, the guide read us "The Raven" as we walked back. Now, I take my Poe seriously and want it done right or not at all. This guy read it from the folder, lost his place a few times, used a voice that I assume was supposed to be funny (and wasn't). It just wasn't done well. If they HAD to fill up that time, (and I hope they read this review) they should have the poem read at the original site and read seriously by someone who can do it properly... by candlelight... with some thunder, rain, and lightning in the background. I was not only disappointed, but mad that it had been done so poorly. I could have read it better (and not from a folder). All in all, it's still a Halloween favorite and the location is fantastic and used well.

What surprised me was the bands versatility, musicianship and overall friendliness. Many of the guests wore concert shirts in honor of "Javi" and the band played music from 60-90's for sure, maybe even more contemporary, based on the bands on the shirts they saw!!!! Rock, funk, soul and even heavy metal!!!! Who even has that versatility? They even took requests and nailed stuff you know they didn't practice, but if one band member knew the chords and words, the rest just played along and most of us didn't even realize how ad lib they were! Very friendly too. Took time to talk to the crowd during breaks, talking music and strategizing ways to take more requests. I would hire this band in a heartbeat and hope they play some open venues soon so I can enjoy their music again soon!!! Will load a video of my requested song soon! Just need to crop it down. She played the best songs, giving everyone a chance to dance and play on there own. When the party seemed to die down a bit, she grabbed the mic and had the whole party playing fun crazy games! It was a blast and we all had so much fun! Those memories will live on all because Becky created that great atmosphere. I really couldn't recommend this service enough! Trust, this is the option you need for your next big event.
