Garlic Naan

This place is so good, when you walk in you can't see the restaurant, they open the door and it is small but the atmosphere is amazing. Our waiter was funny, my husband makes jokes about spice, the waiter was very cordial. I got the braised lamb in the coconut curry sauce, the lamb was a little dry, my husband got the spicy Sitka chicken level three, it wasn't that spicy but the spice was so good. I recommend this place if you like Indian food.

The nicest Indian restaurant in town, regarding ambiance. Food on the on the other hand, it's about average with local Indian Offerings you can get whereas the cost is inevitably a bit higher. For some, the ambiance is a prerequisite to their dining experience. For me personally, I want a bit more flavor and spice. I was tempted to try the duck leg, but $24 is a pretty premium for a single leg... OR I would opt in for an $18 platter at an Asian restaurant for half a duck

Unexpected dinner but turned out to be so good ! Blue Taj I went to years ago and remember it being good. We sat inside as it was quite hot on the patio. Service was excellent and they are quite discreet in their checking in which was nice. Really nice decor and an elevated place for an Indian restaurant. Love you don't have to look for parking too! Food was really good but only wish is that when you tell them you want it really spicy that they make it really spicy. It was all very tasty but I could have used extra !! That's just me though. The rest of our group loved it all . Taj beer made its rounds on the table . I went with just water here. Although they have a bar and nice wine list. Appetizers we had The masala papad , nice crunchy and a kinda salad mix comes with it. The chili chicken was really good and tasty. Perfectly coated with spices. Mains we had the chicken tikka masala , great big chunks of chicken lots of good sauce. The vindaloo sauce we ordered on the side was really good too. The tandoor shrimp(jinga) was in a cream sauce, not my favorite but the shrimp were good Off the menu the salmon Achari was a table favorite. Made with cabbage and a great sauce of Indian pickle spices. Great flavor. Our friends knew to order this as it's not on the menu. The garlic naan was really good soft and fluffy. All that made for a great impromptu dinner for us. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice place or even for a special occasion with good Indian ! Well run place .

My first dining experience here did not disappoint! Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a beautiful atmosphere. It definitely feels upscale and would be perfect for a date night. I had dinner here with a girlfriend and our server was kind, patient and informative when it came to explaining the menu items and making suggestions. Everything we had from appetizer to main course to dessert was fantastic! I plan on returning again soon to try out some other items. It feels like a place where no matter what you order, you can't go wrong.

Saag Paneer Chicken Tikka Masala and Rogan Josh

We've been on the hunt for our go-to Indian food spot in the Charlotte area and Blue Taj is a top contender! The owners are from Punjab so the flavors and technique are authentic. The Rogan Josh was delicious and the flavor was not too gamey. The Saag Paneer was absolutely delicious (one of my favorites) and the Chicken Tikka Masala was really tasty. We ordered medium spice level but it was pretty mild so we will definitely increase the spice level next time. You can handle it, I promise. An absolute must order is garlic naan because there's nothing better to soak up all that delicious gravy. The staff were really friendly and the location is central Ballantyne. We'll definitely be back!

As a vegan I was worried if I could find much but I did and the food was great. We ordered samosa, bhindi masala and tofu cashew cream curry with roti. Enough for 2 people. The staff was very nice and made us a lemon soda which wasn't on the menu but that's what I was craving for. We definitely recommend this to our vegan fellows and others.

Blue Taj Foods decorated as high end restaurant but dinning tables have so many scratches. They need to changed all tables or they should use table clothes. It looked ugly . Foods are very expensive and all my foods portion are very small. I found a hair in my foods. I took a picture and see attachment.

If you enjoy Indian food , you need to check out Blue Taj ! Everything we tried was absolutely delicious !! The service was also excellent . Blue Taj is definitely a keeper and will remain on my list of must visit during my trips to Charlotte ! Parking : we parked in the attached parking garage which was great because it was raining so it helped keep us dry .

Loved the Vegetable Samosa. The pastry shell wasn't too thick or hard like some can be and the filling is very flavorful. I ordered my Chicken Tikka Masala at a "level 2" which was medium spice. It got pretty spicy as I kept eating for those of you who aren't great with spice. The Masala-Chili Cauliflower has more of a tomato taste which was good but unexpected.

Finally, some decent Indian food in Charlotte!! I came here for lunch last week and ordered the chicken tikka masala lunch special. It came with a choice of soup or salad as an appetizer. I chose the coconut curry soup. It was DELICIOUS: packed full of flavor and curry goodness. The actual chicken tikka masala was also delicious! Unlike some other Charlotte Indian restaurants I've tried, the Blue Taj's curries do not taste watered down. They are bold, spicy though not necessarily hot-spicy, and have a nice consistency and texture. My meal also came with naan, which was fluffy and went well with my tikka masala sauce. I do wish they had given just a bit more food but it was the lunch portion after all. I will most definitely be back here, even though it's a bit of a hike to Ballantyne. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Went to this place couple weeks ago after being recommended by many of my friends. Upon entering was welcomed with somewhat flat/warm welcome. We were seated within 5 minutes of getting there. Place was busy but ambiance looked very nice and happening. Our server was kind, funny and had nice people skills. Food was very delicious and tasty. With curries you can actually smell all the flavor. Food was also as tasteful and flavorful as it smelled. I feel prices are justified for the ambiance, service and food(quality & quantity) you are getting. The only thing we didn't like was garlic naan, would rate garlic naan 2/5 . Rest of the appetizers and main course was 4.75/5 . Their Leek Koftas are must try. Will be be back soon.

The experience was very nice. The entrance is reminiscent of a high end restaurant. The atmosphere is dark and cozy feeling with red and gold color scheme. We came for a late lunch and missed any crowd so service was quick and helpful. I love when restaurants with spicy food leave bottles of water on the table. We ordered the vegetarian tastes platter, garlic naan, chai, paneer Tikka masala, and bhindi masala. The platter was all fried but deliciously spiced with a sweet and sour dip. The garlic naan was outstanding given the crispy outside and fluffy inside. The chai was ok, less of a full body mouth feel as others we've had before. Both of the entrees were fantastic. A 3 spicy level was perfect to feel the heat but not painful even after eating a ton. If you like spicy food, you would want to go higher. We've been struggling to find our new Indian food place on the south side of Charlotte but this may be it! Yes the prices are a little steeper than others I've been to but for the dine-in experience and quality of food, I think it is worth it. We have tried doordash for this restaurant and it wasnt as good as being in the restaurant.

Great chicken tikka, samosas and garlic Naan. I really miss the mango chutney that they previously offered on their menu.

Dakshin Indian Grill - Chicken Tikka Masala and Naan Special

My wife took the kids out to the movies last night (they went to go see the new movie M3GAN and…read morethey knew better than to ask me if I wanted to go see a movie that looked that silly). As soon as they hit the door to leave, I sat there in front of the TV contemplating watching football or playing some Fortnite(don't judge me, I'm an 80s child that was raised on video games and Fortnite is my favorite). Just as I was thumbing through the TV channels and about to get up to go turn on my Xbox (Fornite usually wins), the cooking channel came up and they were making some Indian dishes. Since Indian food is my 4th favorite ethnic food and I hadn't had it in a while, I only knew one restaurant in the area where I can order it using Doordash....Dakshin. Dakshin is around my old neighborhood and though I know I was ten more miles away since I moved and Doordash would take forever to get to my house, I knew it was worth the wait. I ordered some Chicken 65 as an app, main dishes of Chicken Marsala, Boneless Briyani, and a Curry fish dish for the Mrs. for when she gets back in from the movies. Food finally came via Doordash and a ripped open the bag. I guess I didn't have to rip open the bag, but I was tapping into my inner caveman since I had the house to myself. All I can say when I started eating was DAMN, DAMN, DAMN that food is great!!!! The aroma had me salivating. The taste of the sauces, the tender chicken, the garlic naan....oh my!! Dipping the naan into the marsala sauce was absolute heaven. Portion sizes were really good too. Now my only downfall was that I thought I was going to be a real man this time and order the medium hot spice...wrong move. I started sweating like a sinner in church and my stomach system eventually made me push out a ham sandwich I think I ate back in 1996, BUT, the taste was undeniably good. If you are looking for really really good-tasting Indian food head over to Dakshin. Next time(and there will be one soon) I will waive the white flag and order mild...how real men do it.

We did, driving to the Arboretum Shopping center on Providence Road: Ruchi. The interior is so clean and open that were surprised that they have been open for nearly a year! Certainly lots of space for parties and large groups. Very nice menu with lots of choices. Siva C. was our server and she answered our questions. Their spicy/heat scale is high of 10. Wife and I very much enjoy Gobi 65, fried cauliflower. Each Indian restaurant has their own take on how it is prepared, mostly either dry or wet, with some sauce on it. Their version at @13.99 was our best yet. The pieces of cauliflower were disappointedly small, but the flavor was wonderful. Apparently they soak the cauliflower in a tasty sauce and then heat it. It was so good that we ordered an additional order to take home. The emphasize Hyderabadi cooking, which is heavy on rice (biryani) dishes and rich brown sauces. Plenty of veggie dishes along with goat, chicken, lamb and shrimp versions. I had the Gongura Shrimp ($17.99) and it was excellent. Six medium sized shrimp were immersed in a delicious, thick brown sauce flavored with sorrel leaves, garlic, ginger and other spices. Outstanding! Because of the small sorrel leaves, the chef has to spice it to #6 to bring out the flavor. I found level 6 easily manageable. That sauce was so good that my wife, that will not touch seafood, did spoon that sauce on to rice and loved it. We also ordered Bullet Naan ($4.99) which is Naan bread sprinkled with green chilies. It was very good and eatable because the coating of chilies was lighter than we have experienced at other restaurants. We drank beer, the only one available that night was Rupee Pale Ale ($7.99) and is was a very mild IPA, so very tasty and drinkable. Excellent with Indian food. I think we have found a winner here to which we will return. Lots more dishes to explore.

Your server will save you from dying of burned mouth and tongue. I don't give out many five star reviews, but Aroma earns one for their great menu, excellent dishes and servers that speak English well. And I like eating ethnic when it is TRULY ethnic. A very fine restaurant Aroma is. Remember, Aroma caters to Indian clientele tastes. THAT is their main population that come in to eat and to host parties. They are NOT catering to American tastes. Accept that. If you are not of India race, you are, truly, a guest. But you can, pretty please, ask for a lower heat level than would normally come out of the kitchen. Mango Lassi ($6), plain yogurt and your server are your saviors. Wife had a glass of white wine ($10) and generally hates dairy of any kind. Yougurt does soothe a fiery tongue and she did have a sip or two of Lassi just as first aid. When you see the word, "Bullet", it means, generally, the hottest of the hot. I like bullet naan bread, sprinkled with finely chopped green peppers and eat food with it. OK. I LOVE their Bullet Shrimp ($18 + $2 for shrimp) done mild. It was interesting as people and staff would come by our table mentioning, with amazement, that the Bullet Shrimp was the hottest thing that comes out of the kitchen. I replied that I did ask for a mild version, which put them all on the path of the truth. Even mild, you will need to eat maybe plain naan or some other dish to break up the heat distribution. It is good, though. We had the fried 65 Gobi ($15) which is cauliflower done medium heat. Yummy with mint sauce. It is wife's favorite, and we ate one order with our meal and took a second order home with us. A great appetizer, so try it, as chicken or Gobi (cauliflower). My brother lived in Andra Pradish in Hyderabad, so I ordered a Hyderabadi Masala ($17), with chicken, to try it out. Medium heat, but still spicy, it was OK with rice or naan. Probably will not order it again. Pull up your socks and go there to try it out. Remember to use your server. Start mild spice and work your way up so that you can enjoy Indian dishes as they are normally made, but adjusted to your acceptable level of spice/heat.
