Look out, Gorham, you've got a hot brunch spot in your town! Better get to the Blue Pig early or be comfortable waiting, because people are flocking here on the weekend... as well they should be. The Blue Pig - adjacent to Thatcher's and offering a parking lot behind the building - boasts of delicious diner food and diner prices with non-diner like adult beverages in a non-diner like setting (the atmosphere here is very cool: it's hip meets rustic meets cow and pig decor). I came with friends on a Saturday morning at 9:30; we were lucky that one of our trio came early, waited for about twenty minutes, then snagged a table for us, because even at this earlier hour the line to get in was out the door. I settled for bottomless cups of coffee, but was eyeing the Bloody Mary's (anyone know if these are vegetarian?) and the Irish Coffee options pretty hard. If I hadn't had a full day of work ahead of me, I definitely would have splurged. For food, I'm a sucker for a good egg sandwich (especially ones where the yolk runs through my fingers) and had never had one on a waffle before... wouldn't you know, Blue Pig offers such a treat! My two egg and abundant cheese sandwich came on a folded in half waffle that I drowned in maple syrup (REAL maple syrup - these folks know what's what!) and hot sauce. Which is a FAB combo, FYI. The eggs were cooked a little too much for my personal loving, but I blame that on myself - I should have said something to our (attentive) server. I wasn't a huge fan of the home fries, either - I found them a little greasy and underwhelming. I'm a hashbrown girl through and through, and would have preferred this if it had been an option. I ate at The Blue Pig for the first time yesterday & I had a stellar experience. This enchanting little gem was full of sunshine & smiling faces. To Bri behind the bar, what a refreshing energy & glow you put into your business, I can tell you love what you do. The staff were all so friendly, cheerful & personable & the food was absolutely delicious. They crushed it with the peach tea mimosa. My wife and I went to the Blue Pig for lunch and when we walked in, we immediately loved the place. It's beautiful inside with a large bar, lots of table space, and well lit. We were there in the middle of the week around 1 pm, so no line. It was probably only 25% full. Also, parking was super easy on the street. Again, middle of the week. We both ordered sandwiches. Our server and the service was wonderful. Our sandwiches arrived in a timely fashion. A Reuben for her and a Cuban for me. We really wanted these to be special, but for us, they just weren't. My Cuban was so dry that I requested some BBQ sauce to put on it. The Reuben was better. We both liked it, but it was a typical Reuben. I so wanted to bump this review to 4 stars based on, I don't know, the "promise" of good food. I believe the Blue Pig Diner has 4 star food. We just didn't get it that day. Based on my reading of other reviews, I clearly need to try the biscuits and gravy -- a favorite of mine. It seems like we drive through this area frequently enough that we will be able to eat at the diner again, and I'm looking forward to it. read more

Found this place by accident on a rainy Sunday. Had a wait and it's based on the honor system, very nice to have everyone supporting the order. The service was fantastic, prompt to take our beverage order and food order and always with a smile. The food was great, one of the best eggs Benedict I've had. Blue Pig is one of our favorite hangouts - the staff knows us, the food is always excellent, and the freshness/quality of the ingredients is amazing. Any place that makes its own corned beef from scratch rates high in my books, and literally *EVERYTHING* is of that quality. Plus they make an excellent bloody mary. We recently moved to Gorham and used Yelp, as we often do, to find a good place to eat. The Blue Pig is the only diner that came up in our search for a breakfast place in Gorham but with some great reviews, it was an easy decision to give it a try. It was Saturday at noon and the place had a pretty good crowd. The service was outstanding with coffees presented immediately and our food order on our table within 15 minutes of entering. Well organized and clean, it's a great place for a family meal as well. They also have a bar if you want a beer but no TVs. And they do close at 2pm and closed on Wednesdays so plan accordingly. The food is outstanding with oversized portions so you can take some home. We had the chicken and waffle with homemade sausage gravy and the corned beef hash which came with huge tender chunks of corned beef. Both meals were excellent. The good: very clean and pleasant service. The bad: the food. I ordered coffee and the veggie eggs benedict. The coffee was watery and on par with gad station breq. The benedict was awful. I thought they had forgotten the hollandaide but when I asked for some, I was told the slight sheen of yellow on top of the eggs was hollandaise. There may have been a teaspoon of it on each egg. Thw veggies under the eggs were bland and scattered all over the plate. The eggs themselves were a bit cold and oddly uniform in shape (mass made and reheated?). The english muffin wasn't toasted. The potatoes on the side were mushy boiled on the inside and not either not browned or burnt on the outside. Everything was bland. I tried to make things decent with salt and pepper, but after3 bites I asked for the bill. At $8, I didn't mind walking away from the food. The place was empty and everything came out in under 5 minutes, which is never good when hollandaise is involved. After a 6hr drive, I was starving and ready to eat anything, but this food was so poorly prepared and presented, I couldn't eat it. It was not inedible, but definitely terrible. Sorry. read more

So much yum. I had been wanting to come here based on the great reviews, so when my friend suggested it on a Sunday morning I was game. We were able to instantly grab a window table around 10-11am and the waitress came promptly over. I was so tempted to order one of the adult beverages they offered (Irish coffee or tiramisu martini) but I boringly stuck with the iced water. Next time I will for sure! The menu looked amazing, I struggled choosing between the breakfast and lunch options. . I decided on the blueberry stuffed French toast Panini ($8). Comes with real maple syrup. It was delicious and I would totally order this again. My girlfriend ordered the chicken and biscuits which comes with home fries and coleslaw ($13). I had a bite of that, and yes it was delicious and I might have to order that next time (sans coleslaw). She loved it. In conclusion, I want to come back as soon as possible. Maybe get that tiramisu martini and the chicken and biscuits, or maybe that pulled pork and corn bread that I saw on the menu. Definitely worth the drive to Gorham! read more

Fantastic! Staff- Amazing, smiling, polite, helpful. Seating area- cozy without being too cramped. Food- blueberry stuffed French toast panini was perfectly cooked and stuffed. Yummy!!! Veggie Omlette was cooked to my husband's standards and all the changes he wanted were done correctly. Coffee both black and specially made were above most diner standards. And the staff made sure my husband always had coffee in his mug (bonus)! Coming back here as soon as I find myself nearby this little treasure. Can't wait! Came here under the recommendation of a friend who described it as a great place for "meat." He was right. I ordered the Pan Seared Potato cake w/steak & 2 eggs, gravy and toast. It was all done very well. The wheat toast is nice and thick and the steak was cooked perfectly. The eggs were a little runny but still very good. My one complaint would be the lack of the fake sugar...I like sweet & low in my coffee. I also thought the coffee in general wasn't great. Service was good. Waitress was nice and service was pretty quick. I found easy parking out front. My wife had pancakes, they were huge. She ordered 3 and ate maybe 1. Very good...real maple syrup. I was so excited to go here. Heard such great things. I went for breakfast around 830 Sunday morning. Only a couple of people in there. The atmosphere is really cute! The food I thought was average, it lacked salt and pepper. I had the breakfast burrito, it was ok. The table split a side of brisket hash, I was not a big fan. I thought pieces were a bit burnt and again lacking salt. My son had the chocolate chip pancakes which were heavy and dense. My husband had the meat lovers omlet which lacked salt. By 9 the place was packed! The have a bar so for a Sunday Funday I think this place is awesome but for just straight up breakfast it was average. Prices weren't bad though. We may ditch the kid, come back again and have some adult Sunday brunch beverages! read more

Wonderful food and service. We came in at 1:15 not realizing they closed at 1:30 and they treated us very nicely and didn't rush us at all (even though it was inconsiderate of us to stay as long as we did!) We ordered the pancakes, biscuits and gravy, blueberry muffin and the ruben. Everything we ate was wonderful and very reasonably priced. Way to go Gorham! You have finally done it! You have a restaurant I plan on going to on a regular basis and I couldn't be happier. The Blue Pig gives me that Becky's Diner feel. Locals, tourists, and college students all in one place, dining together, hanging out and getting a beverage or 3. This is a great spot for breakfast and probably lunch. I loved the waffle breakfast sandwich and gravy from the chicken and waffles. This is traditional style dining all the way. Curly fries, burgers, reubens, biscuits and gravy, chicken and waffles, eggs benedict, the list goes on and on. They also have a nice little counter, which I always love, when dining alone or with one other person. There is something about bellying up to the diner counter that makes me want to come back, again and again. I would give this locale a 5 star review, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the fried chicken is from a box and I want hand breaded chicken, damnit... First of all: Do what Steff says and get the waffle breakfast sandwich. It literally takes up half the plate and is super delicious. Also, sub the homefries for the real fries, because YOLO. Secondly: DO WHAT STEFF SAYS AND GET THE WAFFLE BREAKFAST SANDWICH. This super awesome breakfast/lunch spot is amazing and awesome and adorable! I stopped in the day after thanksgiving and they already had their Christmas decorations up and some Christmas music playing!! It was clean and the service was friendly! While Gorham (which my phone insists on autocorrecting to Gotham so this sentence is taking forever to write) is kinda far away in my mind, it is totally worth the "five Taylor swift songs singalong" ride to come back and I will definitely do so!!
