No plans of buying anything but this store made it easy to spend money. Who doesn't need a delicious balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil? The tasting part is the best part. Most of what I picked to taste is delicious. Too bad they ran out of truffle olive oil otherwise that could have been in my basket too. I'm sure there are quite a lot of stores in manhattan like this one but being in a small quaint town and finding a store like this is quite lovely. I got the white vinaigrette Ginger Honey and Lemongrass Mint, balsamic vinaigrette blackberry ginger and extra virgin olive oil Koroneiki. Spouts and Himalayan sea salt. I was just strolling down the avenue when I saw this store for the first time. I decided to go in because it looked so inviting. There are so many different varieties of oils and vinegars. They carry both dark and white balsamic vinegar varieties and many different flavors of oils from different countries. The store set up is very organized, neat and looks very appealing too. I sampled a few different oils and tried some interesting combinations with small samples of bread. All of these oils are excellent quality and taste so fresh. They also carry different salts, spices and rubs. Love the free suggested recipes that are available. Very creative! I purposely cooked a homemade pasta this evening and served it with a side of Italian bread and the Rosemary infused olive oil. Delish! read more

Stopping in because I needed a quick gift, I assumed it was just like other oil/vinegar shops I'd been to. I assumed wrong. The quality of the vinegar and oil here was by FAR the best I've sampled. Not only that, but the owner and his son were extremely helpful in answering how to best use the products in recipes. You can tell how passionate they are about sourcing the oil and bringing out its quality. They helped steer me towards the right choice for my mother's present, and I liked the samples so much I ended up bringing some home for my kitchen as well. I ended up with Lavender and Apple Balsamic and Tuscan Herb olive oil, which have complemented salads and spring veggie dishes so nicely. What set this shop apart besides the quality was the warm hospitality from John and his son. My fiance and I had never been to Cold Spring before, and they engaged us in a great conversation full of advice. We could have stayed there chatting for hours! Really a special experience. Finally was able to stop by for a visit. The shop is beautiful and impeccable. It was so nice to taste the flavors and mix the vinegars with the oils to get various flavor combinations. The staff was so helpful. We went home with several bottles of vinegar and oil and a few new recipes to try. We will be back. read more

This place is great! There are so many different kind of oil I had no idea even exsisted. They also have many balsamic Vinager types. I didn't even know white balsamic exsisted. The staff is very knowledgeable and can even tell you what oils and balsamic goes good with what types of foods. They also have flavored salts (I bought the onion salt). The oil prices are very reasonable considering you are getting top notch olive oil. Not the second class oil you buy in stores. read more

Love here the balsamic vinegar so much. My favorite is Pomegranate and fig taste. It's very tasty and you can use for salad, yogurt and any cooking. It's very much with Asian cooking recipe also. When I stop by in this neighborhood, I always stop by in this store. read more

Blue Olive is a beautiful shop stocked with helpful, friendly, knowledgable staff, a lovely selection of regional and infused oils and vinegars, and a wonderful collection of recipe cards you can bring home to experiment with. What a wonderful find, I really appreciated how well the staff helps guide you on a tour of the shop's offerings, what I thought was my favorite (robust/Greek) actually came in behind what I chose as my favorite - a lighter oil from Portugal. Really fabulous selection, especially if you like infused oils and vinegars. I didn't think I did, but Blue Olive won me over big time. Very reasonably priced, and if you're not ready to commit to a full size bottle, you can put together an assortment of mini bottles of oils and vinegars to bring home and try out. This store is a gem nestled in the quaint village of Pawling, NY's main street. Inside there is a variety of oils, vinegars, spices and here's the best secret: truffle salt. We actually wandered into the new location in Millerton, NY and were offered a delicious bruschetta with trumpet mushrooms, arugula and Gorgonzola with a glass of wine. Yum! We then tried a few vinegars and were directed by a very knowledgable and patient individual to Balsamic Fig, the best I have ever tasted. My husband jokingly asked about something that would improve his legendary Vodka and Tonics. We were astonished to be shown a White Balsamic Lemongrass and Mint vinegar. He adds a couple of drops and a drink that we thought was perfect rose to a new level. We will be back. Can't wait to lay my hands on the truffle salt mentioned in another review.
