What is there not to love about TJ's? Honestly this location just makes you feel like home. The staff is always running around to make sure everything is stocked up and they sure show their smiles under their masks. Love coming here, my favorite is their flower selection. They have so many fresh flowers and the best is the little greenery (and mini succulents!). They last quite a long time! I could sit here all day and speak about each individual product that I love from this stow but I will have to say that during covid, the staff has been amazing. They've been properly disinfecting and keeping the store clean. They're also limiting quantities of people that come in. Sanitizing stations available. Great Trader Joe's, the only thing that could make it better is if they had a spirits and wine section. It's ok, beer selection is available! RUDE EMPLOYEES! Not one but TWO Trader Joe's employees - a young man with glasses and brown hair, and then an older woman with grey short hair cut in front to get to the bathroom when there was clearly a line of people waiting. The young man said nothing and cut in front of me, then next the older woman cut in and inserted herself in front of the door as a customer was walking out. This customer was caught in the middle and I informed her that there is a bit of line and I was met with her response - "yeah I work here." It was inconsiderate and unprofessional. I have never experienced this before and it's a gosh darn shame! I was looking forward to shopping here but I was so uncomfortable and I walked out. Trader Joe's - give your employees more training and more bathrooms, clearly it's needed. I will not be coming back. read more

Prepare to go nuts... I just about bought the store and I was throwing things on my cart as if I had never seen food before. This store is mighty clean, fully stocked and organized, and going late afternoon on a Thursday was a prime time bc it was low traffic. The prices are out of this country affordable when compared to the regular food stores and their unique and delicious selections make it hard not to grab everything in sight. Trader Joe's will always be my #1 and the Danbury store is no exception. I very much appreciate the business model and I can't think of a location that is less than solid when it comes to the customer experience. This is the one that's closest to me, at roughly a half hour away (I've never ever lived close to a TJs but it's worth making the trek every few weeks). I remember when I moved here last year, considering Aldi, which is closer, might be a more convenient substitute, but oh helllll no. Not even close. The dreadful aisles that are carelessly packed with items, dim lighting and barely controlled chaos is not for me, sorry. I'll make the drive. I want to first remark on my appreciation of how the store is operated during quarantine times. It is highly efficient. They control the amount of people in the store (only one per household) and then there are arrows to indicate which direction you should be going so that people's carts are never meeting/side by side. Staff roam the store to remind people of which way to go, where to stand by the registers so that check-out staff is protected. Meanwhile, local supermarkets are barely controlled chaos and plenty of people do not obey social distancing so you need this type of order. They direct you to wipes and hand sanitizer as soon as you enter the store, too. The last time I was here, they had signs asking people to not horde, to please only buy three of any item. Cool with me! It seems like they took away these signs and: they have TP! Which I forgot to buy, but nice to know it's there seeing as it's such a precious commodity. Clearly that wasn't my priority yesterday. Nutritional yeast was, seeing as they were out of it the last time and it's so much cheaper here than at the health food store! Also stocked up on produce (note: avoid the bagged baby kale from TJs in general as it always goes bad far in advance of the sell by date). Now let's talk about quarantine snacks because we all know snacks are what's getting us through these hellacious times. My favorite TJ snacks are: Giant Peruvian Corn (better than Corn Nuts!), chocolate orange sticks, salted pumpkin seeds, coconut strips, toasted coconut chips, restaurant style chili lime tortilla chips, peanut butter pretzels and those huge corn chips (seems like I'm all about corn and coconut). I love the seasonal offerings (jelly beans RN) and miss the discontinued stuff like crazy: maple butter that wasn't a small fortune, yuzu hot sauce (a brief appearance, hope it comes back) and black licorice laces - WHY ARE YOU NO LONGER? And I appreciate all of the vegan offerings. When I'm feeling lazy, I don't make my own pesto and buy their vegan kale pesto in the tub. Their coconut whipped cream is divine and it's amazing to be able to buy Miyoko's butter and cream cheese for a couple bucks less. I'm holding out for when they also have her cheeses because the TJs brand shredded cheese is godawful. One of very few things I don't love from them. Finally, let's talk cauliflower gnocchi. For months, they were sold out. I had theories that word got out amongst the keto obsessed soccer moms and I was extremely resentful because I don't avoid carbs but this gnocchi is so much fluffy and tasty than potato gnocchi! I throw a bag in the air fryer and then toss with massaged kale (note: their kale gnocchi is nowhere nearly as good) OR, melt some Miyoko's butter and Frank's hot sauce and drench the gnocchi so that it's like Buffalo tots. Ok, I just devoted an entire paragraph to the cauliflower gnocchi. Yes, it's that good. TJs, thank you for being there for us in these difficult times. Thank you for having a very orderly operation that keeps both your staff and customers safe. And, most of all, thank you for keeping the cauliflower gnocchi stocked. read more

Service here is usually excellent. Unfortunately today we met a younger guy with glasses at the cashier who basically told my husband and I to pack our own bags because we brought our own shopping bags. That's not the norm so it took us by surprise. Then as he scans the meat packages, he takes it out of the plastic bags I placed them in and doesn't put them back. I had to do that myself. Then as we struggled to get all our food items into our bags, he didn't offer to help or ask if we needed more bags. He stood there and watched us. I would have given 1 star but I gave 2 stars cause I love Trader Joe's. It is disappointing that this employee made the company look bad today and like I said, service here is usually great. The prices compared to grocery stores in the area are good. The variety of items prepared and otherwise excellent. Produce if not on sale on the high end. Special note, apples especially honey crisp are well priced and excellent. Lots of great vegan options. I love the vegan artisan bread!!! The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The feel of the store is greatly welcoming. Even when crowded (it's always crowded) you are out in a relatively short time. What can I say...it's Trader Joe's! Love the selection of foods and I always walk out with more than I planned to buy haha. Always something new that catches my eye. Plus the staple items like everything but the bagel seasoning, soup dumplings and French onion soup! I'm so happy that I live close to Trader Joe's! It's great to go there in a pinch for many common items like milk and eggs, but some of their products, like flax and chia seed peanut butter, should NOT be missed!! The only downside is...sometimes they run out of things (ie. Currently the peanut butter is out of stock), which makes me sad, but hopefully it will be back soon! read more

If you haven't discovered TJ's yet, I'm not sure what rock you've been living under. But anyway, if you are uninitiated and don't live too close to one...yes, it's worth the trip. We head out to this one fairly often, and my favorite thing about TJ's is always finding something new and interesting to try out. Did you ever want to test out canned jackfruit as a pulled pork replacement the next time you make nachos? Well, then TJ's will help you out. Honestly, I'd make the trip just for the snack aisle and the "Pound Plus" bar of dark chocolate. Most TJ's have weird layouts and tight aisles, and this one is no exception. It is also the most impossibly bad parking lot you'll likely ever have to navigate. But still, the TL/DR...make the trip and load up on all kinds of goodies you won't find anywhere else. read more

I rarely eat red meat, but this time I just couldn't pass up Trader Joes center cut filet mignon steak premium Angus beef. If any of you love steak, this is absolutely a no brainer to try! Its a little expensive but it is just amazing in taste, flavor, and so tender and juicy that you could cut it with a butter knife. Trader Joe's just blows away all the competition in every dept. For me, this Trader Joe's competes for my business with the more recently opened one in Albany. That one is more convenient, but it comes with "parking lot hell." I am more likely to come to this one for very specific things, such as wild-caught seafood and Grade B maple syrup. New York State does not sell Grade B maple syrup; it is packaged as "Dark For Baking." I like the store's renovation, but I wish they had more registers. As far as prices, I would consider the price of their meats and produces competitive for the area. However, since I have the benefit of living closer to several Adams Fairacre Farms, I am much less likely to buy meats or produce here unless it is a specialty item. Everything else, especially their own brands, is reasonably priced, and if I'm here and need those items, I'll definitely buy them here. read more

I will drive a long way to hit a TJ. Even vacation plans include a visit! Keep an insulated bag in the car every time I am in Jersey or CT juuuuust in case a detour shopping trip is possible. Used to clean the floors at the Pacific Beach store in San Diego 100 years ago, I think the all-nighters staring at their products left an impression. Great products at great prices. I am always a sucker for their coffee, sweets, salsa and prepared foods. Where else can you find frozen arancini bites? This location does not carry wine so no 2 Buck Chuck. Yeahh.. I like this one! Well, there really isn't any TJs I don't like. I have a nickname for each TJs now (my favorite being 'Happyland' in Stamford) I've only been here once, so it still has yet to be named. I do like the friendly workers but my TJ reviews are really very unproductive. So I am going to try to be useful and list a few of his best (yes, Trader Joe is a real guy-- I actually sorta met him..He is from California.. Wish I could have married him, but so the story goes. he sold the store many years ago to a German company, but still is very involved)... Anyway.. best recent buys: Bar None ice cream bars (beat Magnum), vanilla ice cream (do not buy the Pumpkin-- so bad) Mini choco chip mint ice cream sandwiches (ate the entire box) Green curry sauce (good grief, stay away from the red) Farro (much cheaper than in regular markets) Garlic, ginger and lemons- great prices Pomegranate juice (boil this to reduce it, makes a delicious sauce over chicken or fish). Frozen items: only like the Asian items. Lemongrass chicken rolls and scallion pancakes, especially. (Trader Jose and Giotto need some help) There, I hope my review was at least somewhat useful this time. read more

I've liked this store for a while and come all the way from Dutchess County to shop there. I'm totally with wearing masks to protect each other and our most vulnerable, but only allowing one family member in at a time is making it harder for us to shop, and it's not really helping. My partner is on the autistic spectrum and hard of hearing and needed my help to shop. We're not going to take the time to go here anymore. My cravings from cookie butter to yummy frozen dinner and organic veggies you always leave me happy and content. Danbury T. Joe's is no different, friendly staff and honestly not as crowded as the ones in NYC or SF i'm can happily shop for all my staples from asian snacks to yummy carrot cake. This place is very well stocked....the layout is horrific.... frustration in the public abound.....might be better if they paint arrows on the floor for traffic flow! Staff is knowledgeable and very helpful....polite and courteous...prices are reasonable.... However with the clientele driving their shopping carts like weapons makes for a somewhat frustrating experience... You know how some people pretend not to know you when you KNOW they know you, and they know that you know they know you? This will never happen to you at this TJ's. Going here actually feels cool, like you're in a record store. I'm not even kidding. They take such awesome pride in their items, and because they're always adding new stuff, you find something new and different very often. Seeing familiar staff is always a pleasure, they're always helpful, positive and genuine, and don't pretend like they don't see you every week. What I like: No GMO's in TJ brand products, lots of organic veggies to choose from in season, new products regularly What I don't like: Whatever I don't like about TJ's on Mill Plain doesn't even register on my grocery judging list. (for reference : stop and shop scores a negative 50 Billion on said list) What I can live with: stock on some popular products runs low sometimes. This is clearly because their stuff is actually fresh and in demand. Whole foods is cool, it's got great interior design, and pretty clever layout tailored by the marketing department. I'm not going to review Trader Joe's as a company because every store is going to carry different items, hire different staff, etc.. I will, however, review my experience at this specific TJ's. My oh my! This Trader Joe's has got to be one of the cleanest I have stepped foot into. Everything is in order, easy to find, and sanitary. The staff here are so friendly, and I didn't encounter one bad egg! Everyone was super helpful and kind. Checkout was quick despite the little line that accumulated, which brings me to say that the staff here know what they're doing and don't waste their time or anyone else's. Pretty easy to find parking, despite a parking lot that seemingly looks 90% full. Lots of people coming in and out! I would definitely check out this TJ's rather than the Whole Foods a couple of miles away. read more

This location is pretty well stocked, and is always busy. They have fresh flowers at the entrance, and there are nearly always cooking demonstrations with free samples in the back. I like the energy of this place, with the colorful tropic theme and cheerful employees. But for me the food also has to be good, because I am not taking the ambience home with me. They have lots of neat food items, but the prices are variable. Some things are cheaper than you would expect, but other things, such as fresh produce, are not that cheap. They have lots of processed foods, which does not normally thrill me. But when it's a particularly good chutney that I can use to jazz up some brie and make a terrific appetizer, I'm a fan. And I also love their sushi (okay, I only eat California rolls). It's still delish. The one million and one frozen food items - not so much. The other thing is that you cannot do a complete shopping trip there. On a recent visit I was looking for horseradish without any success. When I asked for it I was told they used to carry it but they don't anymore. They do not sell wine, thanks to Connecticut's Blue Laws, so no Two Buck Chuck here. They do sell beer, however. As I've said, their stuff is pretty hit or miss. The Mile High Pie promised a pie overstuffed with apples, but when I cut into it it turned out that there was hardly anything under the top crust. Seriously!! The top crust was floating in mid-air, and the apples were maybe layered 3 slices deep down in the bottom. I dubbed it "Air Pie" and ended up returning it to the store after no one wanted to eat it. The return was easy - Trader Joe's -- like Aldi -- has a satisfaction guarantee that will allow you to return anything if you don't like it. Not many people know this, but Trader Joe's is owned by the discount food chain Aldi. The Albrecht family (from Germany) split up the company, and Aldi Nord owns Trader Joe's, while Aldi Sud ownes the Aldi stores. Once you realize this, all the prepackaged foods make sense, as does the very good quality (and cheap!) chocolate. read more

Ok, I'm giving this place 3 stars... Here's why. First off, the prices are amazing. I can get everything I need for my big shop for just under or just over $100. The parking for this place is atrocious. The parking spots for one or extremely tight. Being parked next to another car will sometimes be only a couple inches of space that separates making it difficult to get in and get out. The traffic. The location of this store in my opinion is in the most chaotic areas of travel and rush hour traffic intersections around. Being that millplain Rd connects to 84 and route 6, most of the time to even get near trader joes you must wait in bumper to bumper traffic for long periods of time. Once you finally turn into the shopping complex it is a grid lock due to the outside traffic. As mentioned before, the prices are great... Although some of the quality of foods you would expect are somewhat below average. read more

I have many things I only buy at TJ's and other things I will not. I really enjoy shopping here because it is small and efficient, with lots of great products and good prices. Love the personal care products, soups, dairy products and frozen veggies. BUT, I no longer buy fresh meat of chicken at any TJ's because almost every time I have had to toss it out because it smells bad and I live 45 min away. Yes they offer a money back return, but who has time to make two round trips for a couple of packages of chicken. Being someone that used to stop by Stew Leonard's once every couple weeks or so, I was a bit upset that it wouldn't be much of a convenience anymore since I moved out of that area. I mean c'mon, their chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk are pretty insane, can't we all agree on that? Not to mention, now that it's Fall, the apple cider doughnuts are just not fair. Not even one bit. But Trader Joe's, or as I like to call it "Mini-Stew Leonard's," has become my savior on most occasions when looking for fresh produce and decent prices. The location is crucial since I live right up the hill, so if I we happen to run out of something food related, it's not a deal breaker to travel to. And most of the time when we do end up shopping, we prefer Joe's over Stop and Shop, just because the employees are super friendly. I will admit, as I do in most reviews for that plaza, parking is an absolute nightmare, but again, it's just the plaza, not Joe's. Huge fan of their chicken breast and salmon since we've all been on a protein kick lately. I usually pop in here to pick up 2-3 packages, keeping one in the fridge and freezing the rest. Normally I wouldn't buy so many from a place like Joe's, but the pricing isn't bad, so why not, right? Their produce is usually very fresh and decently priced, especially their bananas. Joe's also has a pretty solid craft beer selection in case you don't have enough energy to walk over to Warehouse Liquors (I've reviewed the past). My only problem is that the store gets really busy sometimes and generally it doesn't feel large enough to hold the customer base. I've had times where I would have to traverse to other aisles just to make my way to registers. But other than that, I'm still a fan of Joe's. read more

The years of anticipation that preceded my first TJ's visit could have easily ruined it. But luckily, I was expecting something a bit different than what it was, so that worked out for both of us. They have a whole lot of interesting choices along with the staples. The decor is quirky and old-style. Best of all, they have surprisingly affordable prices. Seriously affordable. I mean, over a pound of Belgian dark chocolate for $4.99? I was expecting it to be pretentiously overpriced and it wasn't at all. Very nice. On the flip side, they don't sell booze, a slight disappointment when we were looking forward to the Two Buck Chuck. That may be Connecticut's fault, however, if they have the same liquor laws as New York. (side note: why do we have to go to different places to buy wine/liquor and beer? STUPID. even Florida knows better!) Lastly, it was crazy busy. But it was a Sunday, it's the only TJ's around for quite a distance and they must be doing something right to draw those sort of crowds. So please, execs of Trader Joe's... bring one to the Hudson Valley! read more

I hit up this store a couple of times a year since its about 40 miles from home. So worth the trip! Note that parking can be a problem. All those parking spots with "C" on it are for compact so don't go parking your SUV there! The usual high quality fruit and veggies and great cheeses. I buy plenty of their Tofurky Italian Sausage and Tofu when I'm there and also stock up on their organic No HFCS Ketchup. For a treat I pick up their Dark Chocolate with Toffee or Caramel bars before heading over to stock up on English Crumpets. Don't go here with the idea that you will have time to browse the isles. It's the only TJ's for miles around so its always busy. P.S. No wine here. read more

I LOVE THIS STORE! I recently got put on a very restricted diet.. no red meat, no glucose, etc and this is the perfect place to shop! They have so many amazing things.. Every time I go there I always find something new I have to try! The store itself is pretty small.. I believe theres only 4 or 5 aisles.. Its always busy busy.. Its very clean.. The staff is always so friendly and pleasant, available to answer any questions. I went there expecting it to be pretty expensive, I was surprised at how cheap some things were.. I spent $50 and got 3 packed bags full of stuff.. I live an hour away and will make the trip at least once a month to stock up on snacks and frozen foods! I adore TJoes! I was always too intimated to shop here because of there rumored high prices.... well let me just say that's soooo not the case. Being 21 and receiving the normal 21 years olds pay check and, spending $100 on 2 bags of groceries isn't exactly ideal! Tjoes has the best prices on what I like (cant speak for everything). They have my seaweed snacks (1$) kettle corn(1$) canned salmon(1$+) These super yummy grilled chicken patties (3$) lobster bisque (3+) common people! Beats the heck outta stop and shop and at least you know you getting quality food. On top of what your spending the staff have always been super friendly and helpful and the store is spotless. CONS: Good luck finding reasonable parking * The lines sometimes!!! So this is a "posh"county, and some of my fellow county mates are to damn "posh" to bag there on darn groceries.......the registers only but so big! read more
