Okay, so I'd have to say that the cake we got from Blue Icing was delicious.
That's the most important bit. We were camping in Penticton, and we had our wedding in two days, and decided that we needed a cake. We went into the Saint Germain cafe, downtown, and they recommended us trying the Blue Icing Bakery.
When we arrived, unannounced, the place smelled amazing. There was a girl working there- the owner - who lived upstairs of the bake shop. That reminded me of the old school, euro-style bakeries back home... independents run by people who really know how to put in a day of work.
So, we told her we needed a wedding cake and we told her we needed it in two days. It was obvious she was busy, but she said she'd get it done. Well, when I showed up the morning of the wedding (actually, two houra before the wedding), sure enough the cake was done.
So, the verdict. Well, it was a LEMON cake, and my wife is a foodie, and a Lemon-nut, and it was amazing. It was eaten to the last two pieces (archived until our one-year anniversary). Very simple, wedding sash design that looked unreal, until you took a bite. The frosting flowers were hand-made, and they were beautiful!
Anyway, that was my experience with Blue Icing. Were we so lucky to have that place in Alberta! read more
