This review is based on a personalized cake made towards the end of September 2019. Having a themed cake was honestly a last minute idea. I figured it would add a nice touch to our daughter's 6th birthday party and it was also a surprise for her. My daughter doesn't like cake, believe it or not, but she tried and really enjoyed this cake! I found Melanie here and immediately contacted her. I let her know the party was literally a week away. With all transparency, she let me know she was pretty busy, but would try to squeeze us in. I emailed her two photos of my vision for the Aladdin themed cake and Melanie ended up creating a gorgeous cake! Melanie was in constant communication about the details of the cake, which I appreciated. She also called me the day before the party and suggested we bring a serrated knife in order to cut optimal cake slices. She delivered the cake on time to Aerosports Trampoline Park in Murrieta. She left me written cutting directions, but as a courtesy, before she left she also explained how we should cut the cake for our guests. Initially, I was looking for a one layered cake to feed 25-30 people. In order for the cake to have a WOW factor Melanie suggested two layers (same cost, as cost is mostly determined by slice per person). Both layers of the cake were chocolate. The cake pictured was $320. Everyone raved about the design and taste, so it was well worth it. More importantly, my daughter was pleasantly surprised. Overall, Melanie is AMAZING! Melanie was professional from start to finish and her response time was almost immediate regardless of the time of day or night. She took into account my ideas, mixed that with her expertise, sprinkled lots of patience and delivered pure magic! I highly recommend Melanie for your unique baking needs. read more

I've been searching for a cake baker that I can rely on. Having a good baker is as important as going to a favorite hair stylist, you want to know that they can put you at ease and you can be stress free for the big day. It turns out that Melanie lives nearby and we had an email consult about the cake I wanted for my daughter. I sent her three cake photos I liked and she returned with more cake options that she can do. I was very impressed! Most cake places would just say "well, that's what she wants, so we'll just go with that and not offer more". Not Melanie, she went out of her way to even offer to make the animals on the cake more realistic! Another thing that impressed me right off the bat are her cake flavors! Seriously, you start drooling just looking at the cake flavors. I'm not a big cake person unless the cake is really well done (like wedding cakes) and Melanie specializes in that, so I knew her cakes would be amazing. She makes two types of buttercream, regular and italian buttercream. The italian buttercream blew me away, she bought a sample over for me and I absolutely fell in love with it! It took me back to my wedding day since I had a buttercream cake as well. On the day of my daughter's birthday, she offered to bring it to the park in a box with ice packs. Seeing how close we lived to one another, we could have just had her bring it over to our house so the fact that she offered to take it to the park was just wonderful. The cake came out beautifully, I was amazed with how big it was and delicious at the same time! usually when the cake is so big, it loses its quality in taste, this was not the case at all. Her cakes are amazing and in fact, my husband and I fought for the last piece of the cake. It was just that delicious and like I said, I'm not a cake person, so she really impressed me. From the first time I spoke to her, to meeting her (she has a sweet, calm presence about her), to having the cake delivered, my experience was excellent all the way. She did an a fantastic job, I will be requesting a birthday cake for myself from my husband to work with her on it. read more

I would love to give this Bakery a great review. But Not possible. We tried to text and call her one day before our event with no response. So 15 minutes after our cake was already suppose to be delivered she answers and says she's running late. Over an hour late she delivers our cake. She did not offer a discount on the $25 delivery fee or on the expensive cake. Very disappointing and unprofessional. Plus the " talked up" Italian Buttercream frosting was extremely thick, greasy and tasteless. Don't waste your money. read more

Easily one of the best tasting cakes I've ever had. Keep in mind gourmet cakes are not cheap. You get what you pay for. Though it was a pretty penny, I would use Blooming Bakery again and again. For my daughter's 1st Birthday Party, we ordered cupcakes for 30 people, and included as a gift from Melanie to the birthday girl was the smash cake (for 1st Birthday only, I can't confirm if this is still something she offers). So sweet! Her birthday was a safari chic theme- we discussed having different safari animals on the smash cake, based on photos I sent. At first, she wasn't sure if they would fit but she made it work! The cake was so adorable! The cupcakes were pretty with glitter and also tasted so yummy! I just ordered a cake from Melanie and it arrived yesterday evening as part of surprise celebrations for my mother and father in-law's 50th wedding anniversary. Not only was the cake beautiful, but its 3 tiers were the most, moist, delectable cakes I have ever eaten. The base was an incredible white cake with strawberry filling- gobbled up in quick time. The second was a moist yellow cake with banana cream, which disappeared at equal speed. The crowning cake was a rich red velvet with cream cheese filling and amazing chocolate notes.
