TL;DR: she's amazing and knows what she's doing. 100% recommend! I get terrible anxiety when it comes to getting my hair done (from past experiences with bad haircuts/color) but I'm so glad I found Ashley. I've been getting my black Asian hair balayaged by Ashley for more than 2 years and she NEVER fails to amaze me with how smoothly she blends the roots! I've received so many questions from people about where I get my hair done because her blends are truly the best out there, not only in SD but even comparing to people in other states. Her blonde never gets brassy and she knows exactly where to place the highlights/lowlights to complement your face. All I can is WOW! I am completely blown away by Ashley and her skills! What a hidden gem found here in San Diego! I searched and searched am soooooo elated I found her I am never going else where! From the first phone call I was impressed .. she answered immediately upon contacting her, answered all my questions and was able to book fairly quickly for the following week which was perfect. When I contacted her via text a few days later with some follow up questions about pricing she was up front and responded very quickly .. no shadiness. She confirmed my appointment a few days prior and one my actual appointment day she was an absolute joy. When I came in we sort of honed in on what we wanted to do which ended up being slightly different than the photos I sent, but she made sure to listen to and hear everything I was saying and never went against anything. She recognized how nervous I was about damage given my extremely fine hair and very checkered hair history and was very careful to not only address that concern but show me every step along the way how my hair wasn't being damaged to reassure me and put me at ease. I have never felt more confident and comfortable with a stylist in my life I truly haven't. She told me to trust her and I did and honestly couldn't be happier that I did. My hair looks amazing (she also did it in a way that no matter whether I put it up don't part it side ways diagonal or upside down it looks absolutely stunning and dimensional but also natural and low maintenance at the same time!) and almost feels in better condition than when I came (like hello how is that possible?) and on top of it she's a bad ass chick! She's so fun and cool to talk to and she really really knows what she's talking about I can't stress that enough. If you are looking for someone to do your blonde please look no further .. her prices may be higher than some but honestly you get what you pay for .. she is extremely extremely thorough, leaves no stone unturned and uses high end products ... **Updated Review 8/8/18** I have attached a photo of my hair 6 months after first visiting Ashley. I HAVE NOT gone back since my original visit on 2/17. I wash my hair once a week with Fanola No Yellow shampoo in order to maintain the color. Honestly, using this shampoo is what has allowed me to go six months without having to get a touch up. I do have a follow up appt schedule this month. **Original Review** It's taken me a while to write a review because I wanted to see how my hair would look after a few washes. I got my hair done on February 17. I'll admit that I wasn't initially thrilled with the results because of 1) the price 2) didn't look how I wanted and 3) the color was so DRASTIC compared to how I went in. However, after several washes, and a month later, my hair is so beautiful. Ashley heavily processed it but it isn't even damaged. I REALLY love it. My hair color was messed up when I went in and I must give Ashley lots of credit because I have so much hair and she had plenty to fix AND she got me done in 3.5 hours, maybe 4. My hair now is a light, cool brown at the top, slightly lighter in the middle and beige/blonde at the ends. Yes, Ashley is quite expensive, but she knows what she's doing. She is an expert at lifting/coloring Asian hair; she knows what she's doing 100%. The appointment process was easy, I just shot her a text and she responded quickly. Im sure there are "cheaper" options in San Diego but I didn't want to risk leaving the salon with damaged orange hair and then having to pay more money to try to fix it. I drove over an hour leaving my 2 month old newborn at home, to receive "raved" hair coloring services by Ashley Grey. As well as get some well deserved pampering. My hair was about 4-6 inches below my shoulders with light brown/dirty blonde natural color. I also had partial highlights when I originally came in. Ashley was very warm and welcoming when we first met, however, she stated at the beginning of the appointment "I work very fast". Which is great! Especially considering the $$$ hefty price tag that comes along with her coloring services (minimum $250 to do coloring). I asked for baylage, so Ashley did her thing, however the entire time it felt very rushed, with Ashely herself saying, "oh we're going to get done quick today" and kept looking at the clock. Fast forward to the end of the appointment to the revile. I had asked Ashley several times before we started coloring to have the bayalage start as low on my head as hers. Not only was the coloring not very impressive, she did not start the "coloring" low on my head. Also the bottom half of my head where it used to be my original light brown color, was now a coppery/Orange blonde after she finished coloring my hair. I mentioned this to Ashley and she said I would have to come back for another visit in order to get that a more blonde color. Umm, okay? Ashley continued to dry my hair and told me how great I looked. She asked me to pose for a photo and I complied. The problem is, once I got home and got to look at my hair in the light, that's when I really noticed how orange the bottom of my hair really was. Now I'm no hair expert, but Ashley has colored and continues to color a lot darker tones of hair than mine. With the results of blonde achieved that I was asking for (basically to match the rest of my hair). She has plenty of instagram pictures to prove this. I have used my purple shampoo to try and "brighten" the orange/ coppery hair color since my appointment with no luck. I believe at the end of the day I paid around $300ish dollars for something I will have to find another salon to fix, ultimately paying probably another $200 dollars. If this is the work of what $300 dollars gets you then that's completely ridiculous. Completely dissatisfied, and will not return. read more

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to this woman to get your hair done. I have never ever had such a bad hair color in my life. She made it seem like she was the best hair stylist and an expert with blonde hair. I went to her because she promised me that she could fix my hair, and she actually made my hair way worse, and it came out way different than she said it would. She actually turned my blonde hair a grayish green tint on the top of my head. It is like a cap of this gray green color on top and then the bottom part is blonde. It is something out of a horror movie. She also charged me $500 for 3 hours of work on my hair and never told me in advance how much she charges.
