Feminist Branding.. Zero Feminist Values! I've been too afraid to speak up because my favorite stylist worked here and I didn't want to risk her losing business, but now that she's left, I can finally say how I really feel. The owner, Cyrena, markets this salon as feminist, premiere and inclusive. Don't be fooled. She regularly uses clients as a captive audience to broadcast her political views, her Trump and MAGA enthusiasm, her opinions on ICE, while people sit in chairs mid-service. It's tone-deaf and unprofessional, and it shows a complete disregard for the people paying her. That disregard extends to how she treats clients physically. She once walked up and started touching my hair while my stylist was working on it, no introduction, no eye contact, not a single word to me. Like I was a mannequin. It was dehumanizing and strange, and it tells you everything about how she views her clientele. This salon wraps itself in feminist branding while being one of the most unwelcoming, hypocritical spaces I've sat in. It's a marketing costume, nothing more. I'm glad my stylist left. I'm following her and never coming back. read more

Please SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT GO HERE. Reserved a dry style and came in with slightly emphasis on slightly damp hair. So the girl said she would use the blow dry on it. Mind you it took her 5 minutes to dry my hair, and then upon being with a random girl my stylist is finally ready to do my 30 minute dry style. Mind you I asked for heat protectant and she said I should have put it on before. Such rude service and then I asked for curls and she gave me Utah girl curls the last 2 inches of my curls are straight and In the salon i didn't notice because she didn't show me the back. After all that she rushed through the whole thing and at the end when it was time to pay she told me it would be extra for the blow drying service I didnt mind mind paying since it was a $30 service until I get charged $80 + a $5 TIP THAT IS INSANE I could have gotten a cut wash and style for that absurd price. All for hair I have to recurl since it's falling as soon as I got home. Do not go here and I will keep giving negative reviews until I get refunded my $50!!! Shoutout Hannah for being a scammer and horrible hairdresser don't got here save your money. Go somewhere where they care about their customers and show dignity. read more

Bias, subtle or blatant can surface anywhere, but I didn't expect snide remarks and a supercilious attitude at a hair salon. Instead of professionalism, I was met with rudeness and disregard. Clearly, respect for clients/human beings isn't their priority. Pretends to be premium, but it's a poor imitation inside and out. I'd give zero stars if I could. As for the services, they ruined the Keratin service but the review is not for that. Mistakes are forgiven but not discrimination. ETA: Very defensive and rude response from the owner. Expected. Perhaps some introspection would have helped, otherwise with this attitude, I only see this place going downhill. read more

Nava has done a good job on my difficult thin hair. I've had female baldness since my 20's. She gave me a graduated bob something I never heard of! Also the gloss toner was worth the extra $50 it helped my hair shine! The salon is very clean and they give snacks and bubbly water! read more

Recently got my hair done here at Gloss. My hair was done by Jae with guidance from Cyrena the owner. Not only did my hair come out awesome but it was cool to see the learning process. Cyrena is a great coach and whatever she told Jaelyn to do obviously worked. A highlight and haircut has never looked so good. As an ER nurse, it's hard to find places in SD county that are reasonably priced while also being chic/relaxing. But Gloss is both of those things. I'll definitely be coming back :) read more

For a customer who had been coming to this salon for 5+ years and having to rebook the same service over and over and over again this is extremely frustrating that you cannot accommodate a schedule change. I had to do a root color (which I have been doing every month) with a note written to keep it for longer time and to comb them and pull them down you still can't get the grays covered in 2 sittings!!!! And then the audacity to tell me that I needed an overall color - when I had been coming to your saloon every 5 weeks or so to cover the grays. Yes I had to cancel my Wednesday appointment and yes I need to reschedule today's appointment because I have to take my kid to urgent care. And it's not that I'm cancelling this appointment. I am rescheduling it because of mistakes that YOUR salon made TWICE. And then to listen to you tell me that I'm being rude and raising my voice, where it's me trying to explain to you that this third visit in 2 weeks service is not what I should have been booking in the first place. Again this wasn't not the first time that this has happened. You just escalated it by not giving me a chance to talk and cutting me when I was speaking and then declaring that I am being rude and yelling and being dismissive. I did not raise my voice but yes it is difficult to be calm and collected when you start blaming me that it wasn't the right service that was selected and that somehow it is my fault that the root touch up should have been a overall color. I wish there was a better way to resolve this but if you want to blame the customer and their hair then it is pointless. You can charge 40%, you can charge 100%, looks like it is only about money for you. And then the statement that 'This is our livelihood' - yes so please do a better job at it and get some skills that doesn't require 3 sittings for a root color! I will happily think this is my charity for the week and I end this discussion. It is not worth explaining and trying to be accommodating to incompetencies when the business owner just wants to put the blame on clients. read more

My hair did not respond too well to a previous salon's highlights and it was time for a change and hair rehab. Enter Gloss with their amazing stylists and great studio vibe. I've been coming in every 3-4 weeks for root touch ups and the occasional cut and style for over a year and half now. After my previous stylist left, I was matched with TYNE who always leaves me with "just walked out the salon hair" every time. Tyne and I communicate our plan and she is great at checking in with my expectations and how we are progressing with our visit. Admittedly, I do have a thicker head of long hair, but Tyne does an amazing job of bringing my graying, heavy hair to beautiful life. Add in the great conversations we have. Whether I am going to a special event or running a simple errand right after, my locks draw compliments that I contribute to her magic. Communication and technique are key and TYNE does a great job! I've been to Gloss twice now, and very satisfied both times. The studio is clean, bright, and great decor/aesthetic. I just tried Cheyenne (other reviews spoke very highly of her) and she was so knowledgeable and had great suggestions for color/cut, I'm so happy I trusted her. I went in for a Men's Haircut, was greeted by a Professional and very nice Receptionist, Lexi! The Lady who cut my hair, KAYLAN, was very nice, courteous and extremely polite. She has a great bubbly personality and really knows how to cut hair. I will now always get my Haircut there with Kaylan!!!! If I could give her 10 Stars, I would. I'm not very happy with the service I received. I'm an autistic woman, and I haven't gotten my hair cut in the longest time, and have never had professionally colored/toned/styled. I had an appointment today 1/22/25 at 1:00pm with a stylist I never got the name of. When I arrived and she called me back everything was fine. I told her that I wanted a longer shag cut and showed her pictures, and she informed me what I wanted wasn't a shag and to be careful using that word because it wasn't at all what I wanted, and what I wanted was just a layered cut. I appreciated that she educated me on this, as I was truly uninformed on the terms. I had also scheduled for a "gloss". I was under the impression that a "gloss" was a semi-permanent treatment that was supposed to make your hair shiny and soft. During the consultation she said that I had booked for a cut and toner. I replied that I had wanted a gloss, and she replied "Yeah.. a toner." I was unaware these were the same thing, but I agreed that if that's what she said it was, that's what I wanted, I'm not a professional, she is! We go back to have her shampoo me and she asks me what my goal was with the toner - if I wanted it to be lighter or what. I replied that I didn't know. I thought a gloss was to make your hair shiny and soft. She responds that it's hard for stylists when a client doesn't know what they want. I was taken aback by this, and I apologized, I guess I was just misinformed on what a gloss was. She asks me if I just saw the "gloss" option when booking an appointment and thought it sounded cool. I said I guess so, because I had heard of glossing before, saw they offered it, and wanted to give it a try. Her comment made me feel bad. I haven't gotten my hair professionally treated at all and thought I would treat myself to something while also getting the haircut I really needed. I apologized to her frequently because I felt terrible that I might have been difficult for her. She asked what I had on my hair and I told her it was a red box dye. She told me that my hair color was very uneven and splotchy and I replied that I didn't mind because I liked the color and have my hair up for work all the time anyway. I told her that before the red, I had a black box dye, but it had been over a year since then. I know professional stylists have their aversions to box dye for good reasons - but not everyone can afford the $200+ to get their hair colored professionally every 4 weeks, and I didn't want to be judged. I understand it's important for a stylist to know the client's hair history, but as far as I knew I was just getting a gloss treatment. She washed my hair and was using extremely hot water. I have vivid red hair. I always wash my hair in cold water. To give her credit, after she put the toner in to wash it out, she asked me if the water was too hot. However, the time before that, when she washed my hair the water was extremely hot. Like I said, I've never gotten my hair professionally treated and thought they must typically just use hot water. And she's the professional, sees my hair, and uses hot water, why would I think anything is wrong? The cut is good, it's what I asked for, which is to have my dead ends cut off and lots of layers. I don't have a problem with the cut. But my hair color is nearly completely washed out. My hair is soft, but looks dull and lifeless. The color is gone. I'm not sure what she put in my hair - toner, gloss, whatever it was, but my hair is significantly darker on the lengths and I'm really unhappy about it, and will most likely have to redye it in the next few days even though I just did my regular root touch up 2 weeks ago myself. I'm sure she's very nice, but the way I was treated made me uncomfortable and I felt she was kind of rude to me. I felt that I was judged, and that I was difficult, and an inconvenience. I wanted to leave within 15 minutes but ended up staying for the whole 2 hour appointment. I tipped her $20 because I felt like I was such a difficult client, even though she wasn't very kind to me. I work in customer service too so I understand how frustrating it can be. But I was kind and quiet, I was accepting of her educating me on the haircut type I wanted, so I wish she had educated me on the glossing situation, because it doesn't seem like that's what I got. Overall, the haircut I got is fine. But I paid $125 and my hair is dull, the color is gone, and I felt judged and difficult. I mention that I'm autistic because it's very hard for me to say something when it's wrong. Especially because I also work in customer service and get frustrated too, I would never want to be difficult or inconvenience anyone performing a service for me. I've never gotten it colored or treated and just trusted the stylist. read more

I normally don't like to write bad reviews, but this time I have to. The story starts in August 2025, when I made an appointment with Diana Alfaro, who is one of the best hair stylists, according to them. I want highlights and lowlights. My hair is brown, as I am a brunette. I just want nice highlights with lowlights. I showed her my old pictures and I asked her to do the same color. I left the salon with my hair completely blonde, not one brown hair in it. Plus, when she washed my hair and brushed it, half of my hair was on the brush. When I asked her what happened to my hair, she said "Don't worry, this hair is already damaged so don't look at the brush." She charged me $450 for this color that I didn't even ask for. I asked for lowlights and highlights because I want my brown hair to still show, not a complete blonde. I called the manager & owner. Her name is Cyrena Potenziani, and after spending an hour explaining to her the mistake her stylist did to my hair, she said "I will try to fix it." When I went there, Cyrena told me that Diana made a mistake and applied the wrong color to my hair. Cyrena tried to do lowlights only but I ended up with a red, orange and brassy color. She charged me $180. I called again after 2 days and sent Cyrena pictures to show her how red and brassy my hair was made. She said "I don't know what to do." Then, one of her stylists, her name is Jaelyn Bourgeois, wants to help try to cover the red. I went back. She was trying to get some help from Cyrena of what color to mix. Cyrena told her what color to use then my last results were more orange, red and brassy color, and charged me $140. I was so mad that they made my color worse than before. Cyrena, the owner, the one that's supposed be a professional, does not know how to mix color and she doesn't know how to fix simple things. All she cares about is how to steal your money with no respect for the people or their time. STAY AWAY and beware of this place. Cyrena and Diana are the worst hairstylists I have ever seen; plus, every time I go back to have their mistakes fixed, she charges me more money. I spent $770 since I first started in August until my last appointment on October 2025. Again, STAY AWAY from this place and save your money for someone that is professional and actually knows what they're doing. read more

I went in with a haircut in mind along with examples. When I left the salon my haircut felt nice, but after washing it the uneven imperfections showed, especially the trim all around. That's made me very sad. I don't get my hair cut often and paying $90+tip is not chump change for me. I wholly trust the stylist, and I tell them as much. I wish she had had the forethought of double checking her work. To be clear, the haircut is just fine, but not worth the price because of how simple the request was. read more

Beware passing the buck. Customer service is not this salons strong suit. Had a consult with Andrena, she was fully transparent and doesn't do color corrections on dark hair. She 'highly' recommended and referred Cyrena the salon owner who specializes in correction. Salon staff contacted and arranged a visit with Cyrena. The day prior to the visit Cyrena's out sick and canceled. Understood. Salon staff recommend two other stylist that were available; however at my initial consult, Andrena didn't recommend Sylvia only Cyrena. Salon staff agreed to reschedule the visit with Cyrena for a later date. Two days later, salon staff called to inform Cyrena isn't taking new clients, but could check with other stylists. Seriously, no thank you. First impressions are everything, clearly this salon can't get it right. read more

I had such a great experience at Gloss salon today. The salon itself is super clean and neat. Cheyenne was my stylist and she was amazing. She not only listened to my rambling and concerns about my hair, but advised me and gave me one of the best hairstyles I have had recently. She taught me about things to do and how to take care of it and was super sweet about all my concerns and questions. She also did not push me to buy any products but I am definitely tempted to try them out once I am in the market for it. If you, for slight thought, could miss your aptmt, do not go, please. I had a dificult week and got distract about my aptmt. When the frontdesk salon girl called me saying I was late kind of 20 min. I got despaired and insisted to go because I was 3 min far from salon. It was denied because the profissional had another client.How does come my hair service of 3 hours was changed by 20 min? And for the worst, an amountof 120 dolares was charged me as fee for missed aptmt. OK .. policy is policy... but we need to avoid such selfish business.... read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. I pre-paid for some extensions and my appointment was at noon on Friday. I called at approximately 1040am on Wednesday to try to cancel the appointment. They said it was less than 48 hours which it isn't . I asked could they just reschedule as I found out yesterday I will need to start chemo and all of my hair is going to fall out. They said sorry but we are charging you anyways . Policy is policy . It wasn't even 48 hours . This is not only horrible customer service and a guaranteed way to loose a customer, but also robbery . I don't need you to feel sorry for me . What I want is honesty which you nor your incompetent staff members seem to be able to provide. read more
