This spot came highly recommended by the crew at FTF Goods, and let me just say they didn't miss. Tucked in the heart of Denver's River North Art District (RiNo), The Block Distillery Co. captures everything that makes this neighborhood electric: creativity, craftsmanship, and pure flavor artistry. I started with "In The Woods" - a four-grain straight whiskey blended with herbal liqueur, absinthe, cinnamon, and walnut bitters. Imagine if a Martinez and a Black Manhattan had a beautifully balanced love child that's this drink. Smooth, bold, and hauntingly aromatic. Then came "Sweet Nothings" - Spring gin, apéritif, elderflower liqueur, watermelon rose, egg white, and coconut milk...tiny, tasty clouds that disappear in your mouth. Dreamy, floral, and fresh without being over-sweet. The bartenders here are Pros! Friendly, sharp, and passionate about their craft. They walk you through their process with the same ease as they pour...whether it's their bitters, liqueurs, amaros, or small-batch whiskeys, you can feel that everything is made with care and intention. The Block Distillery isn't just a bar...it's a statement on how to do things right. From grain to glass, it's a love letter to handcrafted spirits. You'll love the decor; shabby sheik to a modern touch of class! Already planning my next Denver trip... because this spot alone is worth the return ticket.

    Cold pressed - seasonal cocktail

It was a Sunday in December, despite the large tv the place was almost empty. So our group of 6 was able to snag the large communal table. The vibe is industrial yet, quaint. I ordered a seasonal cocktail, the Cold Pressed which was an olive oil infused vodka cocktail. The ingredients sounds interesting and was very unique and delicious tasting. I wasn't feeling another one and there were limited vodka based drinks so I asked the bartender to come up with a cocktail. She did a great job, creating a fruit forward summery type cocktail. Be sure to make your way down Larimer to Block and great a cocktail. You don't be sorry!

Loved walking in here and into the toasty warm vibe they had inside. Walked over after eating at a nearby ramen spot for a nice digestif hehe. They only serve spirits they distill themselves onsite- vodka, whiskey or gin. They have a lovely craft cocktail menu incorporating their spirits; i tried the pink runway gin drink and my bf had the Mario party - both were good but mine was sweeter and better! Loved the comfy seating and music they had going. It wasn't too packed that you had to wait in line for a drink or seating but still busy enough that it felt like a fun atmosphere. Definitely will be back

Honestly I would say if this review was based solely off of quality of cocktails/drinks this would be an easy 5 stars. Well made with plenty of flavor. The reasoning for the two star knock down would be the staff friendliness. It felt like either the bartender was having a bad day or disliked something about my wife or I. Unfortunately I have to believe it is the second option due to other interactions she had with patrons near us. She seemed annoyed with us for just sitting down with no sense of short talk or friendliness and felt rude in her tone. We gladly showed our IDs as expected at an establishment specializing in alcohol yet she did not check the IDs of our neighbors near us. She also made jokes and small talk with them while barely asking us how we were doing. Extremely off putting especially compared to the incredible attitudes and general demeanor of the staff everywhere else we have been today. Minus that negative aspect the drinks and spirits are extremely solid. The overall vibe is industrial with some great artwork on the outside building. Really everything appeared extremely positive before our bartender greeted us... The bathrooms or as they call it washrooms are also a bit interesting as they are non-gender with two rooms but the windows are glass based that makes you question if you have true privacy inside of them due to being able to easily seeing out! Drinks are worthy but if you don't fit what the bartender wants to see as a customer maybe grab their bottles elsewhere and make cocktails at home!

Super fun spot to grab a cocktail! They're also open during the day and serving coffee now, with free WiFi! Very work friendly, and also a great spot to meet someone. I saw several people sitting at the bar alone and it was a very welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Nice little gem on the main strip of Rhino. Felt like a neighborhood staple with all the regulars. Older crowd but lively. Drinks were perfection. Delicious and well presented. Be prepared to spend a couple extra bucks but if you're looking for some great drinks you can't miss here.

    Marigold Sour and Old Fashioned

To cut to the chase, the marigold sour is the best whiskey cocktail I've ever had. Perfectly foamy from the egg whites while also balanced from the citrus. I loved it, and loved that it was a donation-driven cocktail, too, to justify the cost. :) The old fashioned was more straight-forward, but also great! We were visiting the area and stopped by based on proximity, but really loved and lucked out on the open street patio! Very approachable and chill while also elevated flavors and distilling! I hope to be back soon!

Yes fun craft cocktails!! I'm a sucker for a drink with egg white in it and had to try the thyme after thyme. It was a unique drink with that creamy finish that only egg white can produce! Husband got the old fashioned that was also tasty! They had a great space with lots of different seating options! Super cute. Everyone was super friendly and helpful as well!

I highly recommend this place for innovative cocktails made from fresh ingredients and delicious, distilled spirits right on site. It's one of three first place we go when we come to town!

    Tiger's Blood
    Kyle P.

Sneakily some of the best cocktails in Denver. Unique cocktail options featuring their own whiskey and gin. The Tiger's Blood, in particular, is spectacular, showcasing a gin aged in peach brandy barrels. Perfectly balanced and nuanced throughout, absolutely delicious. A really good vibe and fun hang with great drinks to match!

Kraig and two of his stills.

Young up and coming distillery in Rino. Kraig, Kameron and Mel and their team are making quality craft spirits. Attended a tour and got tons of info on their focus on #everydamdrop. A clear focus. If you enjoy spirits, particularly whiskey, you be a fan. They have a tasting room with a great bar featuring all of spirits, neat or in a cocktail.

    Four Grain Straight Whiskey
    Edie A.

What a great little gem in RiNo. I love their values and their unapologetic commitment to their craft. I am generally a vodka drinker but am learning to love whiskey more and more. Let me tell you, I fell in love with their Four Grain Straight Whiskey (a blend of red wheat, white wheat, rye oats, and malted barley). This was served in their 'Call Me Old Fashioned' cocktail with panela and aromatic bitters. They have a chill bar next to the distillery that is perfect to hang out and chat with friends or play one of the many games they have on hand. Block Distilling has partnered with Nathaniel Rateliffe's Marigold Project as their non-profit partner. I left with a bottle of their Four Grain Straight Whiskey, so in the word's of Rateliffe, "son of a b-*#!, give me a drink."

On my first ever trip to Denver, I ended up visiting The Block three times because I liked it THAT much. So of course, I had to make it my first stop of this trip. Unfortunately, the interior (which is very vibey) was closed for a private event, so we sat in the shipping container, which is their outdoor seating option. It was sadly less cute, but warm and dog-friendly. I've never had a bad cocktail at The Block, and this time was no different. I got the Cold Front (creamy and delicious - tastes like a boozy Starbucks drink), and my friends had the Espresso Martini (so well made), Smoking Jacket (bold, smokey), and Gemini Sour (also fantastic). Our server was also extremely helpful with her recommendations. We only stayed for one round, but I will happily return the next time I'm in Denver!

After checking in, we had time to spare, so we tried to get a bevvie. When it is this busy, it is best to go to the outdoor patio and order from the bar there. The patio is pretty spacious, with comfortable seating areas, complete with fireside cabanas, shaded patio tables (great for summer events) and cornhole (natch!) As MHS is a distillery with tasting room, the only food one will find is the random food truck or two parked at the front entrance. Restrooms are decent (open area that is accessible) but cleanliness is an afterthought here (possibly because it was busy). There is a pool table on site but I did not see any darts or Jenga games.

I've tried a variety of drinks here, but my favorite has got to be the Just My Luck - a fruity and light cocktail made with the Denver Dry Gin. A close second is the "Nut a day keeps the doctor away," which is made with their (delicious) almond tequila. The distillery alone is very impressive, before adding in the immaculate vibes of the space and people who fill it. Everyone who works there is happy to talk to guests about the whiskey distilling process, their go-to cocktails, and the story behind this bar. Note: They have transitioned away from the party scene MHS used to be. No more silent disco, but same spirits - just elevated. I highly reccomend checking out what they've done with the space and how they have encapsulated the amazing spirits into hand crafted cocktails that will blow your mind.

This space creates a magical moment for a couple's date night, girls' gathering, happy hour with your coworkers and so on. It was an occasion for me and my adult daughter just yesterday. She and I get together as a family which we traditionally do almost monthly to celebrate "us" and we were glad that we chose the Family Jones Spirit House for the very occasion as there was no element that disappointed us. Ambiance: The sleekness that is common when described as "chic", the high-end design is well-incorporated into the space throughout. Despite its way of being high-end contemporary however, the place emits a very inviting cozy feel. The whole place is enhanced by the soft lighting. Overall, the whole place has an elegant image of "cocktail lounge". Drinks and bites (on the menu): They have great ideas to concoct unique cocktails using their current lineup of whiskey/bourbon/gin/vodka. We could easily go for something typical such as wine but we were like "Why would we want to do that at a place like Family Jones?" We started out with one of the Espresso Martinis (Cinnamon Bun) and Early Grey Negroni. After a good few to several bites (House Salad which was a good portion; simple and yet refreshing, Spicy Herb & Cheese; its spiciness was well-manageable, Antipasto Plate was also generously portioned with healthy choices), we concluded our night by another drink, which was Lohi Rising (absolutely an excellently made cocktail out of the whole menu). Most of the items we ordered were discounted by $1 or $2 due to the fact that we were able to order in before the Happy Hour end time of 6pm. Even with the regular pricings, however, the menu items are reasonably priced. I forgot our waitstaff's name but she was able to assist us with great suggestions when we asked her which ones to order especially the drinks. She was the only person who was mostly walking around the whole dining area (the other staff was mainly in charge of the bar but he once came out and asked me if I needed anything before my daughter's arrival.) Not to mention: the hardworking kitchen staff who prepared our dishes should not be forgotten for all the amazing chef skills. Denver's LoHi neighborhood hosts a good number of contemporary restaurants. Other big names might overshadow this cocktail lounge/restaurant but despite the overwhelming elements, Family Jones Spirits House's position to quietly serve as a humble restaurant is worth a mention. So if you are looking for a special place for a special occasion, go here. You will be pleasantly surprised with what they offer you.

The Salt & Vinegar Martini was also memorable and came with a pickled potato that made it even more fun. The Alpine Glow was lighter and refreshing with hibiscus and citrus. We also ordered some food to go with the drinks. The grilled cheese with soup and the pretzel bites were perfect for a cold winter day and paired nicely with the cocktails.
