I loved the whole experience until the end. I had to leave during installation. I came home to a messy house. They didn't put back any of the furniture they moved, my dogs were hungry and thirsty because they had unplugged their automatic feeder and water flow and they left old blinds (which I paid for them to remove) on the floor. I do love the shudders they installed, I just wish they would have moved things back and cleaned up better. read more

We were optimistic about working with The Blindman, but in hindsight we should have trusted the online reviews -- they do not lie. Our experience was disappointing from start to finish. We were sold a product that was supposed to allow future motorization, which turned out to be untrue. After installation, we requested to motorize additional blinds based on what we were told. They took our payment, but weeks later informed us that our shades weren't actually designed for motorization, causing further delays. We also noticed troubling line item details. We purchased our own Somfy hub based on their line item cost of $430, yet the price they charged included a "professional setup" fee that was never disclosed in the proposal so we only got back a portion of the amount. Buyer beware. Communication from the office was extremely poor -- no proactive updates, and we constantly had to reach out just to know what was happening. To be fair, the service and field support teams were great to work with (Bram, Seth, Michael), but the overall experience with the office staff (McKay - sales, and Darcy - billing) was horrific. We regret choosing The Blindman and hope they take this feedback seriously. read more

If I could give them 10 stars I would!! We have had shutters in every home we've owned and this is by far the best company we've worked with! The pricing was very competitive and the craftsmanship and professionalism is amazing. There were a couple of blemishes in the paint finish that we did t even notice but were pointed out by the installer and those slats were replaced. They also caulk around the frame which has never been done by previous companies so I was fully prepared to do it myself like in the past. We couldn't be more pleased. read more

The powered blinds are fine but the controller is not functioning. I am on my second controller and I have to reboot it daily. They have replaced it once and are surprised that it doesn't work. The worst part is that sending in a call requires days to response. Apparently, they don't have as much competition as needed. I would suggest using another service since their interest in servicing an account is marginal. The others may be more but the frustration in the product is not worth the savings. read more

The electronic blinds are nice, however, their service is terrible. I have a friend who has the same blinds. When the batteries needed changing, they came out and changed his and used his ladder. The very next week, I called to have them change my batteries they quoted $75 for service fee, $30 per window for AA batteries which was ridiculous so I said I would supply the batteries. They then said they had to charge $100 to bring their ladder. I told them that I could supply the exact same ladder that they used with no charge the week before at my friends home! I was told No, they had to bring their own ladder for $100. What a scam!! read more

I never write reviews, but when you are blatantly mistreated you sort of have an obligation to do so. We've come twice in the past to repair our plantation shutters to this establishment and they've done good work. They only asked us to bring in our shutters to do the work. Today I come in again after removing broken shutters and traveling 30 minutes from South Jordan Daybreak area. I even checked their website just in case (because of the hassle) and was pleased to see they still do in-shop repairs with no stipulations. Back to my visit, they check me in and saw that I'm a past customer with repair work on my shutters and then a female manager appears and says, " these are not OUR blinds, we can't work on these." I reminded her that from their system they had done so twice in the past. She then makes up some lame excuse and says, "Our insurance company won't allow us." And I replied, "because your work might be hazardous? I don't understand?" She's says, "Me neither but our insurance carrier slapped our hand when they found out we were doing this." Definitely felt lied to. I feel they think they have full control of blind work in the region and can mistreat others as they please. The blinds themselves I am very satisfied with. The two young people who came to install - Seth and someone whose name I cannot remember - were very polite, but seemed extremely rushed. We have had issues since installation (one year ago) with needing the company to come back out and reset the blinds on the track. Working with The Blindman has been regrettable to say the least. I used them to install plantation shutters and a couple of regular blinds. Short to the point Poor quality product, Poor service, Deceptive salesmen, and over all a Poor over priced experience on all fronts. The salesmen sold us options or types of plantation shutters that their company doesn't make. They DO NOT offer true CLEAR VIEW plantation shutters. They nail a piece of metal to each slat and its all external and visible. Not what I ordered or what the company promised, so tough once I signed their contractual invoice. The companies response was "the salesmen don't have a boss or work for us." A poor way of saying they are contracted or commission based so not our problem. Poor quality. Had I built these blinds in my garage or workshop, I would be happy with them. Paying a professional company with a factory made for a huge disappointment. No attention to detail or quality. Cracks and seams visible, missed areas when painting, chipped and nicked corners, and flimsy poorly built products. Extremely disappointed with the quality. I am currently waiting for the Installers to come out for a 5TH time, yes five times. The blinds were wrong, the blinds were broken, the blinds were then defective, and now while the installers were there slats broke when first testing them. Going on 3 months now dealing with such poor products and service. Customer service was poor at best. Every time we called for an update to see where our shutters were we were told several times we will call you back. No one ever called back. We had to continually call back. Each time we went longer and longer with out shutters there was no urgent rush to fix or make their mistakes right. Just we will get them again when we can. The office lady and Brian were so great to help me solve all the issues. I was a return customer. Their white wooden blinds were awesome but not the "smart home automation integrations." They are very expensive and you have to wait for 6-8 weeks. I am very sure that the Blindman is not the specialist for motorization. The company sent my orders back and forth with issues of sizes and a problem with one motor to Comfortex in New York. Also, the Blindman won't explain different hubs or Comfortex's warranties unless you ask for them. For example, I was told that my google hub cannot be used for the smart shades after all shades were installed. I am pretty sure that I won't order any automation system from the Blindman for my basement. read more

I should note that we didn't get anything particularly fancy, just normal blinds. Not the cheapest but not the most designer. That said, we got blinds for the whole house 18 months ago. They turned out better than I expected, certainly better than the cheapest I could have got at Lowes or Home Depot, and they've lasted well. I'm sure they have their hiccups, but not with our case and I was comforted when going with them that they had over 80,000 installs over their however many years in service. At the very least I knew I was getting some experience from the company, and it turned out great. Maybe some more complicated blinds like automatic shutters are different or something, but we were very pleased. read more

I am writing this to warn future customers so they don't make the same mistake that we did. We have been satisfied with our regular blinds and shutters but also had electronic blinds installed for a fortune in 2015 and this company never, ever should have installed them in the first place. We were doing it during a home renovation at the time and our contractor hired them to do the electronic blinds but they simply had no business accepting the job. There has been zero customer support in six years. I have called in every year asking for help trouble shooting but no one at the company is trained in electronic blinds. Literally no one. It's been an absolute fiasco run around every time I've called in. I am also still waiting on two valances that were supposed to be installed on battery operated French door blinds that I was told could be added anytime. I've called in many times for them and nothing in reply. Very unprofessional and unethical experience we've had with them with the electronic blinds. read more

I was very unhappy with the installation of my shutters I paid top dollar to get quality shutters but the guys they sent to install our blinds did a shady half assed job of it, they basically threw them on without checking if they close tight, on almost all of my shutters in every room one side is loose and don't shut right and after I called the office for the installer's tobcome back and fix there sorry job I was informed that I would have to disconnect all my shutters and drive them down to Lindon so they could fix the problem at there warehouse. Not happy with the customer service and even the install. The blinds are installed at a slant (not parallel to windows). They asked during the installation how low I wanted the blinds to go to the windowsill and still weren't consistent in their installation of every blind. They also forgot to mount one of the chains to the wall and for the ones that they did mount, they attached some to my wall at a weird angle or too loose. Worst of all, they scratched our wall during the installation AND left a mess behind. read more

Extremely disappointed in their customer service. We were told installers would be at our home on a Wednesday to install new blinds and shutters. We schedule the movers so we can move into her new home on a Friday. Installers never called or showed. When I called to inquire about where the installers were, we were told that they would arrive the following Tuesday. We are now in our new home and do not have the blinds or shutters that we ordered over a month ago. They did not seem concerned about our situation and just tried to placate us with the next available opening. I would not recommend the blindman. read more

Orders were placed and blinds/shutters arrived and installed as scheduled. A little over a year ago we bought shutters for our entire home and spent $7000 doing so... within the first year of the warranty we had trouble with the louvers coming off the center bar because the staples were not holding. We called upon them to come and fix the issue and they did. However six months later the staples are coming off again and the louvers are loose once more. I called to get them fixed and was told it would be a $50 service call to come back out and fix this minor problem because we were six months over our one year labor warranty with their product. Beware of doing business with this company the products seem to be cheap don't stay together and they only give you one year that they stand behind their work. That is before they want to charge you $50 to come out and fix their problems. Whatever happened to taking care of the customer and standing behind your product.... the manager that I spoke with wouldn't even come up with a solution to help me with this matter....it was either bring it into us or Pay us 50 bucks! read more

Inaccurate timelines given at the time deposits are requested. When brought to salesman's attention, salesmen chooses instead of apologizing, to instead insist I must have misheard him. Customer is apparently always wrong with this company. When speaking to our salesman and expressing our frustrations with some things, all we received was a passive aggressive blame game and their salesman actually sarcastically called me SWEETHEART. This day in age, for a male salesman to call a female customer a sweetheart is disgusting degrading. I am your customer. NOT your sweetheart. Use this company with caution.
