After 3 months of waiting, I called numerous times. Finally on third call they said they were in for painting. They came and installed about a week or so later. Upon install they installed separate shutters for each pane removing the ability to open blinds up for full window view. Thus, removing my great view of the valley. When asked why they did not install the bi-fold/tri-fold original design they said they do not do those. When asking for a remedy they said there is nothing they can do. They said they could uninstall but would keep my 60% deposit and insisted I pay remainder without discount. Miscommunication happens, I get it! Yet, the unwillingness to accept responsibility or workout an equitable remedy is unconscionable! The wood blinds are decent quality and the price was reasonable. We would keep the thermostat at 70°in the summer and it never shut off. When it would the house would heat up quickly and it was back on again. This summer, after the shutters were installed, we have noticed a significant improvement in the temperature despite higher outside temperatures. We keep the thermostat at 75 to 76° and it doesn't run constantly as before. I am very impressed at the impact it has had on the comfort of our home. We just got a bill from Rocky Mountain power and it compared last July to this year's use and it was significantly lower this July despite warmer temperatures. Aside from the impressive cooling, Utah Shutters does quality work and has the best prices.

The wood around them is now warping, apparently the installer caulked in the peephole. Again, 2 kids came out, changed out bottom peephole, used a ton of caulking and actually took the liberty to cut the wood out in odd little squares. I have been trying to get them back to fix the mess for weeks. The guy I have talked to is arrogant and condescending. Such a bad experience with Homestar, Milgards windows are great, Homestar installation, etc is not. I knew I wanted white plantation shutters with a hidden tilt bar but didn't know much more than that I got multiple quotes from different vendors: the budget option, the big company option, and this was a local small company option. To my surprise, the company with 'budget' in their name quoted the highest price for the same job; by almost double what Wasatch Shutters quoted. I also liked this company because the product in manufactured & built locally here in UT an hour away from my house. Plus: the consultation went quite well. It was scheduled quickly, and all my questions were answered. In addition: this company quoted a turnaround time that was half that of the next fastest business, so I legitimately saw no downsides. Again: this quote was about 75% the cost of the 2nd lowest quote I got, and 2x as fast as a turnaround time. The installation went quite well; it took a few guys a few hours, and I am very happy with the result. The shutters look of high quality, and they look very nice, you can't tell the vinyl from the wood. Plus the installation guys cleaned up really well afterwards which is nice & you don't see very often on these kinds of jobs.
