"with fast reliable responsive service", the ad states…read more FAST: According to my contract, I would have a screen door within 3 weeks, or at the very least, an appointment to install. Nothing, not even a phone call 3 weeks and 3 days later. RELIABLE: On the appointment day to measure, I had to call the no- show rep 30 minutes past appt time. The rep had forgotten the appt but agreed to drop what he was doing and arrive 45 minutes later. Hey, I thought, everyone makes mistakes. RESPONSIVE SERVICE: There is no phone number written on the proposal, and when I call a number found online, I get a voice mail. Meanwhile, this company required a 50% deposit when the door was ordered and wanted a check, not a credit card. Therefore, as the check was promptly cashed 3 1/2 weeks ago, I really have no recourse. Let's just wait and see how long it takes this company to communicate. Buyer beware.

Good News! My order #15540502, 06/2026 arrived on time…read more (actually early) Every blind fit perfectly. The order of woven wood shades met with high approval, (wife). The installation went well. As a seasoned installer, my only suggestion is for the roller blind bracket "wing nut". The roller bar has a very tight space to start the threading of the nut. Persistence works well. So, if the wing nut had only "one" longer wing, It would be a "one finger" install. So, go to the hardware store and buy one and bench test it on an actual roller blind. - Thank you, Stephen Place -508-326-5457

We chose the Rug Merchant after hearing great things about them and having a couple of estimates…read moredone by Empire etc. and chose to go with them for the vastly broader selection, quality to value, and personal attention to detail they take in taking on jobs. The owners, Hillary and (Steve?) are great to work with. Where most people tend to focus on price as the sole factor for many of their home improvement projects, the olde adage of you get what you pay for often holds true as well. We found a great non-standard carpet that fit our style and needs for a basement finishing job and came out about the same of where we would have going national chain, but the offerings and quality, as well as customer service experience were far superior. They really were able to convey what the differences were in what you were getting, durability and cost, and found a great carpet that wasn't available from a big discounter. Four years out the carpet, and composite flooring we put down in one area still shows like new despite getting regular to heavy use. By comparison, the standard stuff we have through the rest of the house when we moved in started showing its age within a year or two. Will go with them again when we have the rest of the house done...
