OMGosh, I'm ecstatic over this cheese!! I was visiting Lexington last weekend and was so excited…read moreto find a street fair happening near my hotel on Saturday morning. One of the booths was Boone Creek Creamery. Since I love cheese, I had to indulge and buy myself some! I love hot and spicy, so two of the flavors I got were "Sassy" (Sharp Cheddar with peppercorn and red pepper) and "Habanero" (Sharp White Cheddar with Habanero Peppers). Sassy was unexpectedly wonderful. Rather than hitting the tongue with heat, the heat was more in the back of the mouth and throat and lingered. No too much, but not too little either. Delicious. The Habanero on the other hand, exploded with heat from the initial bite. This one didn't hold back, it was full-on HOT! Way too often things that advertise Habanero try to be delicate... this cheese was not delicate in any way. It was HAWT!! And I'm a huge fan!! My third block is Blueberry White Cheddar. I haven't had any of it yet, but I have no doubt it will be epic! This was such a pleasant unexpected find. If you are in Lexington and like cheese... check them out. You won't be disappointed!!

Since we were the only folks in the store, Maya was chatting with us and made us feel very welcome. She had great things to say about the owner of the store who sounds like a very talented person.

All the guests raved about the flowers and many of them asked to bring flowers home. I was able to keep some of the smaller arrangements and made a gorgeous vase of flowers after the event. Have you ever watched the shows "Man vs. Wild" or "Survivor Man" and wondered if you'd be prepared…read moreto survive on your own in the isolated wilderness? If so, than I suggest easing your mind by stocking up at Gear Up, a new camping and emergency outfitters specialty store in Florence. Gear Up sells standard camping supplies (sleeping bags, backpacks, portable stoves, lanterns), survival gear (knives, rappelling gear), and emergency supplies (food rations, water purification). All of the goods I browsed look very high-quality (and pretty expensive), so they are marketed more to the serious backcountry campers than the RV and state park campers. Gear Up also sells a number of survivalist books, many of which are about self-defense. After skimming through a few volumes, I realized the target audience is a bit paranoid and a bit practical--folks who want to know how to kill someone with their bare hands (theoretically, I hope). If that sounds like you, check out Gear Up on Mall Rd.
