Elote (Mexican Street Corn)
Pamela L.

I am adorned in gold from head to toe I wear a flock as white as snow I can't go out until I'm grilled to perfection My choice of perfume is a spritz of lime Sprinkle some chili powder and I'm good to go What am I? Answer: A Mexican Street Corn (Elote) Original poem written by Pamela L. and not AI Here is what we ordered from our first two visits here at Birria Kitchen. - Elote - Birria Tacos w/cheese ($1.00 extra) - Birria Ramen (be warned that this is quite a heavy dish) Everything is served piping hot, even the consommé. The item I go crazy for are their Elotes. I love corn on the cob and have had many Elotes that I thought was only okay. OMG, these are thee BEST!!!! It has just the right amount of mayo, creaminess and seasoning. The corn is sweet. Don't share, get your own and nibble away. Definitely worth a visit for some good Birria. The lovely young lady working in the front is super friendly. Plenty of parking available.

Birria Kitchen in Edison is a small, cute place that is clean and quiet, with very friendly staff. We ordered beef birria tacos with cheese, a birria bowl, Mexican street corn esquites, and two passion fruit juices. The food was very flavorful and we enjoyed every bite, but it was a bit salty, so make sure to drink plenty of water. The passion fruit juice was refreshing, but not enough to balance all the salt. Overall, I really recommend this place, and next time I'll just order more water.

Solid birria tacos spot. The taco bowls are a good portion size as well. Fresh ingredient all around. The 4 tacos could have been a bigger portion, was still hungry after eating them. The side of corn was very good, and can put it on everything : tacos, bowls, etc. The warm chips and salsa hit the spot too. Check this place out if your in the Edison area and craving Birria Tacos !!

Hands down the best birria tacos I have tried in Jersey so far. Service was quick. Tacos and consume were extremely juicy and flavorful. There was plenty of seating inside. Will definitely be craving this spot again.

Birria Loaded Quesadilla. Absolutely delicious!

Food and service is amazing. Best Birria I have ever had! The beef is tender and flavorful. Horchata is delicious too.

The food was great, tacos were crispy while the meat was juicy. Consome was flavorful and had a nice kick. Seems like majority of their business is from delivery and takeouts. My partner and I dined in and we have no complaints. This is a quick grab and go place! interior was clean and simple. Would definitely come back.

My new go to Birria and taco place. This place is unbelievable good. I have been trying to find a Birria place that didn't cost an arm and a leg, and I found it! The portions are big, clean, filling, and CHEAP. 4 tacos are about $14, compare to other places where I paid $25 for 3 tiny tacos. There is only chicken and beef, and as a person who only eats halal it made me soooo happy. I didn't have to worry about there being a ton of pork on the menu! This place is super lowkey, hidden from the world but super trendy and spacious inside. Definitely great for meeting up with friends to overeat great food. The consommé was hot and flavorful, and if you needed more of a kick, they had a hot sauce station! The staff was very kind and helpful with all the questions and when we came back for a second round of tacos! This is the type of place to order everything on the menu with your friends and go crazy. I highly highly recommend and I will be back!

Beef tacos, amazing!

I love a restaurant that focuses on one kind of food and does it perfectly. The menu at Birria Kitchen is small and I applaud that! I've eaten in here multiple times and gotten takeout just as many times. Customers order and pay at the counter and can get bottled beverages from the refrigerator case. I'm happy that the restaurant offers Starbucks bottled drinks. The flavors in all the tacos are satisfying and the portions are good. I usually get a Mexican street corn along with my tacos. There's a very small free parking lot. The restaurant is in a little strip mall next to a pizzeria.

Place was decent, more of in a hidden away location and I didn't know this existed in Edison. The store is decently sized and very organized. The one thing I didn't like was that how cold it was inside the actual restaurant, I did bring a jacket but still felt like it was too windy with too many fans on. You order upfront and then sit at the tables and the waitress brings your food, services is decent and the staff cleans right after the customers leaves. Now time for the food, I've had plenty of tacos and I feel like these are decent, taste way better with the spicy green sauce. My husband got the burrito and said it was average. We would be down to come back and try other food items in the future. Hopefully they expand the menu a bit more.

This review is pending from July, I went here for lunch on a weekday with a friend around ~2pm and it wasn't busy although they had folks coming for takeout. Service was average - she answered our questions but wasn't super friendly nor mean, just average. Ambiance is fresh and clean. The food was good but felt like it lacked flavor or punch. I will come back again to give it another chance.

Churros- must try Tres Leches
Latoya L.

This was an ok place. I got the street corn on the cobb, hot Cheetos corn on the co b, birria tacos, 2 chicken and 2 beef, churros, and a tres leches cake. The tacos lacked flavor, the corn was undercooked in my opinion. The best thing was the churros with the white icning. I can eat that all day. All in all, check this place out for lunch.

Esquites

This place is a hidden gem serving up some seriously good birria! Everything on their menu is super authentic. You guys have to check it out today! And for my adventurous people, they have hot Cheetos street corn and hot Cheetos esquites !

Do they have vegetarian birria tacos?

No they don't. I'm sure if you asked you can get just cheese on them.. but that would be a quesadilla essentially. Unfortunately traditional mexican birria is meat, but they do have delicious street corn and esquites which is meat free. Possibly one…

Ok.. hurts to write this but it needs to be said…read more Been going here since first week open. The tacos were delicious, well seasoned, and the salsas were amazing. But....now it seems that the spice level only serves a specific crowd. Even the guacamole the last time we ordered it was an 8 on a scale of 1-10 for how spicy it was. I think it's great that establishments can get creative with certain dishes to appease all dietary needs, and even fuse two cultures. However, you're still a "Mexican" taco joint. All three of your salsas and now the guac are WAAYYYY too spicy. You can have spicy but for some people who really enjoy the wood fired flavor of the meat, it's DROWNED OUT WITH HEAT. Also, i have ordered tacos several times through the online method and chose NO SAUCE.. tacos still came with sauce (8/10 spice scale of course) and ruined the tacos Please pay attention to the modifications.. if it's too much, a: don't offer them, or b: make sure your employees know how to read the modifications Probably won't go back until they either open a spot for their newly intended audience or revert to a taco spot again.

When my lunch plans fell through it was a perfect opportunity to check this place out. If you were going past here too fast you would definitely miss it It is a small restaurant that faces a big hole in the ground in New Brunswick. Parking is New Brunswick parking, if you've parked in New Brunswick you know it to expect. If you've never parked in New Brunswick try circling around a few times and if you don't have any luck with the meters you might have to pay for one of the decks, fortunately there was one right around the corner from this place. When I came in I already knew what I wanted to try, The namesake menu item that has been pretty popular lately. There were a few tables downstairs, and there was a stairwell upstairs that I never ventured up. The few times I visited here I've always found first four seating and never felt the need to see what was up the stairs. The tacos came out a little while after ordering and they looked really good. I think this was my first time consciously trying Iberia tacos and they were very good. I might not be the best person to judge this is I've never had other ones. But I was satisfied with what I had and the broth that it was served with was delicious. I have been back since, and will likely be back again. If you're in the mood for some good tacos you should check this place out.

The front desk staff is welcoming, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the restaurant itself is stunning. We happened to visit while the Halloween decorations were up, and they worked perfectly with what I believe is the Sugar Skull centerpiece surrounding the bar. As soon as we walked in, we heard the staff singing birthday greetings, complete with indoor pyrotechnics! Talk about setting the tone for the evening. We had actually considered heading to another bar after dinner, but quickly realized, why would we leave? THIS is the bar to be at! They have EVERYTHING! For appetizers, we ordered the Mode-Glazed Pollo Bites, Citrus Shrimp Aguachile, Truffle Street Corn, and Crispy Yuca Fries. The pollo bites and shrimp aguachile weren't really my favorites, but the Truffle Street Corn was phenomenal! I genuinely could have eaten that for my entire meal. As for dinner, everyone agreed their food was excellent. This is where my memory gets a little fuzzy... or perhaps I just didn't care what everyone else ordered! I do know that I had the Jalisco Birria Melt Tacos, and let's just say, by the time my wife thought to ask for a taste, they were already gone. Absolutely delicious! Now, let's talk drinks, because Meximodo really shines here. I started with the El Jefe, moved on to the Mi Amour, and my friend and I shared two tequila flights. I strongly recommend trying the flights, especially if you appreciate premium tequila. Think of it like wine tasting. You might not order a $600 bottle of Cabernet at a restaurant, but getting to sample a couple of ounces of something special makes the experience worthwhile. Their cocktail menu is impressive, and with the selection behind that bar, I'm convinced they can make just about anything. I also loved the little chili pepper symbols indicating the spice levels of their margaritas. Our waiter, Raymond, had the perfect way of explaining it: "Can you eat a jalapeño? If so, you can handle the habanero margarita." Simple enough! My wife also tried Sotol, a spirit I'd never even heard of before, and absolutely loved it. Another fun discovery! Between the atmosphere, the food, the incredible bar selection, and the attentive service from Raymond, Meximodo delivered a fantastic night out. It's the kind of place where dinner can easily turn into an entire evening. Five stars. We'll definitely be back!

First, staff is super -super nice!! helpful when trying to decide what to order. Mini Me and I both chose three tacos carne asada with the smokey roja sauce. Hubby had the same but as a burrito. For the sides we had chips and guacamole and the Mexican street corn. Drink were Horchata (Obviously). Tacos and burrito were stuffed, and absolutely delish. They have a self serve salsa bar with the three salsa, the smokey roja, salsa verde and habanero. Let me just say I tried all three- fantastic heat to flavour ration and I poured the habanero on my tacos so good! in fact the smokey roja with the salsa verde is a great combination !! Seating area outside is much larger than inside, we sat inside at a table that had just become available- they do a super brisk take out business and we didn't wait very long for our food to be ready. In fact, my husband and Mini-Me - all three of us, agreed we would for sure make the drive again to have tacos here!! If you are in the area or at school near by- you have to come here at least once, to try the food. I paid for my hubby since he was not my +1 and his meal was about $16. so that in itself is very very reasonable for the amount of food you get. We were very pleased with the food, service and price point.
