We went in late November, when the cottonwoods are still glowing gold, and the whole riverside felt like it was an autumn paradise. The trail is flat and easy, with long stretches that let you really settle into the scenery-Rio Grande on one side, trees and little side ponds on the other. Our dog loved it. There's plenty of room to keep a dog on leash without feeling crowded, and enough side paths and textures (sand, dirt, leaves) to keep him interested. We saw ducks and geese cruising on the water, along with a woodpecker working a cottonwood trunk. It also turned into a really sweet date. There are quiet spots to stop, sit by the water, and just watch the birds and the current go by. It never felt unsafe or overly busy, just a steady trickle of walkers, cyclists, and other people out enjoying the trail. If you're visiting Albuquerque-or you just moved here and want to fall in love with the area a little bit-Paseo del Bosque is an easy yes.

The trail had a dotted center line and a reminder of the courtesies to use while on the trail. The path I took was not shaded. I would say about a 1/4 of the path had rough bumps, and many of them were painted to highlight them. It was a decent path, but I didn't feel like there was much in the way of sight seeing.

I was in town and looking for a casual hike and came across this place. I read some things that said it was an easy hike. I went out before dawn to see what the sunrise would look like. I arrived in the dark but there was desert light to make my way. after a short hike I had a good spot to sit and way for the sun. It was perfect. The beauty was incredible as the sun pulled it self up from behind the Sandia mountains. in the foreground half a dozen hot air balloons were slowly rising from the city. It ended up a great hike, with amazing views, and one of the best sunrises I have seen. next time I'm sure I may want more of a challenge for a hike, but this is definitely the most chill walk I have taken, and one of the most beautiful in the early morn.

We'd never considered taking our daughter here until she was invited by a friend and, surprise surprise, she loved it. Yes, #girlsride too. It's disturbing to think I'd never considered a bike park a good spot for her pandemic play, but there you have it. For a public resource, this little lot of dirt is pretty rad. Offering three distinct levels of riding courses -- beginner, experienced and expert -- the area is nicely maintained, with a number of good, shady trees on the north end. There's also a small balance course, also well maintained, and lots of seating for lame-o dudes like me who already cracked some ribs trying this stuff as a kid. Covered picnic tables, open dawn 'till dusk, free to the public, what's not to love? Well, the male/female ratio, actually -- it's about 90/10. Time to change that, kiddo, let's load up the bike and go.

The caveat is that the final approach to the U-Mound gets more complex and I gave up. But there's a consolation prize: the term "U-Mound" is apparently also used to refer to the general rocks in the vicinity, which are approachable via the easy trails. Given the incomplete maps online and reviews of the difficult trails around Embudo, the TL;DR take is that you should look for the 401 trail if you're into scenery but not trying to re-enact some grim 2012-era Sundance movie. There are many elevation options. While I didn't see wildflowers in April, there was a great cacti assortment. Geography note: there are buses relatively close to Copper Trailhead but the ABQ Ride schedule is not generous. As of press time there were no post-sunset buses so I took Lyft.

They had two parking lots, one in the upper area, and a parking lot right next to the trailhead. Sports Systems had a tent in the upper lot and they were demo'ing the e-bikes for that morning. We passed on that with excitement to hit the trail. We applied our sunscreen and geared up for a ride. The weather was perfect! We were a group of 4, and we hit the trail. We were 15-20 minutes into our initial climb and I realized I wasn't ready for such intensity. I've been a road bike rider for many years, but mountain biking is a whole different animal. Once we were in the trail a ways, it became a bit easier to navigate. However, the ride back to the parking lot was uphill almost the whole way. We rode about a total of 3.5 miles. I enjoyed seeing the walkers with dogs, the joggers, and other extreme fit mountain bike riders. The views were spectacular of the mountains and also looking over the city. In my opinion, I would say this was not for novice mountain bike riders. I was a bit out of my league here. Unfortunately, I even took a fall at the very end with the parking lot in view. All is good thankfully.

Because of traffic, we left the parking lot about 6:15 am and returned just after 11. The water levels were low, but the SUP's did just fine in most areas. The cost of the trip was definitely worth it. We had about 14 in our group. And since the tour was only running the first week of balloon fiesta, it sold out less than a week after being advertised and I didn't get a chance to ask others if they wanted to go as well (but it was totally fine solo and everyone was friendly and welcoming). I didn't want to get wet, so I didn't try standing up for a first timer, but I feel like this trip gave me more courage to try standing next time and trying something new. The highlight of the trip was being able to see a few balloons splash n'dash. Also, Cody and Karen arranged a nice little setup with a paddleboard balanced on two buckets with a tablecloth over for a little breakfast of mimosas, a fire for s'mores, assorted granola bars, and hot water in a thermos for hot chocolate and coffee while we waited and watched for the balloons. I'd definitely go again (and wake up at 4 am). 2022 #41

I've hiked, driven my car, and taking the tram several times. The tram way is by far the quickest and easiest. Lol. As a woman who was afraid of heights, I put myself in many high places. Yet even for me, the tram was not scary. It certainly is high. Somehow though, I've always felt secure. Moving at 15 miles an hour, you're at the top before you know it. This time we went to dinner and watched the sunset. Coming down after dark was an interesting experience. There is plenty of parking at the bottom, and plenty of space to spread out at the top. This is a phenomenal piece of engineering holds up to 50 people at one time!

Thus, our tickets were all 50% off. We found out we'd be riding the third generation. It's been so long since I last visited the tram that I probably rode the second generation. It's roomy! Even with the 60th celebration, our wait wasn't extremely long. I believe there are about 30 people on each ride, but I didn't count. I was hoping I didn't feel crammed and it wasn't too bad. Once you're up there, it's amazing to be so far above the ground. On the way up, our 'captain' gave us a bit of trivia about the area, the tram, and our trip up. At some point, you'll pass the other tram coming down, which gives you an idea of how fast you're really going! Wow. Once at the top, it's about 10 degrees cooler. Bring a light jacket or sweatshirt. You can choose to hike a trail that begins on the back side of the restaurant. You'll see the ski lifts and options for different hikes. OR, you can grab a drink from the Ten 3 restaurant and check out the views. We put our name on the list to eat and sipped on cocktails during the wait. It was nice and relaxing up there at the top! We ate at Ten 3 (our wait was 30 minutes) then made our way down. Our guide on the way down didn't say a word, but I suppose it's the same as the way up. There's only one bench on the tram so if you have trouble standing make sure you let it be known. My mom sat going and coming. When you're back at the bottom there's another restaurant if you'd like to eat there instead. They also have a gift shop with some Sandia Tramway, and Albuquerque memorabilia. It's a cute shop. I bought a few items. It's a nice trip. I've ridden before, but it's been so long I don't even remember. Check it out.

We went to every bike shop in Albuquerque, and when we originally came in to Fat Tire I saw a bike that was slightly out of the budget. She was super nice and chit chatted with us a little (while multitasking) but we left to see if we could find something similar online. After searching and searching, we went back to Trek because they had a bike in a color I hadn't seen and wanted to look at. Our experience there was awful and the color was not what it looked like online so we went back to Fat Tire to look at my bike again. Not only did they work with us, they were super nice and accommodating. It was busy that day, they were all running around trying to help everyone and they really sold us with their customer service, so much that my boyfriend bought himself a bike as well. They made suggestions for additional items without pushing reasons why we needed them. I hate a pushy salesman, but I also really hate being ignored. Fat Tire's team is that perfect in between - great all around, helpful and knowledgeable, but also let you look around while you make a decision. Definitely recommend them over the other guys!
