Came down to Carson in search of a robust bike for my son that chews bikes up and spits them out for breakfast. Upon arriving we were treated like family within a few minutes by son was trying bikes, we were getting good information and within about 30 minutes we had selected a bike. I feel confident this mere 30 minutes will launch a lifetime change for my child. Look forward to our next visit and the memories made here forward. They were very clear on warranty, price, product and life expectancies. They also agreed to do a one over with my son so he can learn the right way.!! read more

The Bike Smith - Test ride - Bikes Near Me - Carson City, Nevada

The Bike Smith has taken care of us for over 25 years. They are skilled mechanics and always provide honest advice. I read a review from a dissatisfied customer about new tires, but shops do not make huge profits on them, so profit likely wasn't the motive. As with car tires, it's wise to proactively replace bike tires even if you're unsure. I trust these professionals and am grateful to have reliable local mechanics at a time when their numbers are declining. We would certainly be at a loss without The Bike Smith! read more

I got a flat during a ride and stopped by The Bike Smith hoping to use their floor pump. Not only did the team let me use it, but they also put my bike on the stand, checked the tire to make sure the sealant had properly sealed the puncture, and even offered me an ice cream while we waited. The staff at The Bike Smith are incredibly friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. I highly recommend this shop to anyone in need of bike service or support--truly a standout experience! read more

They fixed my rollater walker in 15 minutes, were very courteous and price was very reasonable.

Recently moved to the area and have brought my bike there a few times because they came highly recommended by friends but I can't say that I'm impressed. First time my bike came back with the rear derailleur having the same issue shifting. Second time my bike came back operating flawlessly but have a few issues. I had my fork serviced and they just gave it back to me without asking my weight to try to get it close to dialed for me....everyone is different but just thought that was strange they didn't ask. Also, they lost the cap for my bottom adjustment dials and they forgot to flip my XTR derailleur back to on. My chain kept falling off on my first ride and then I figured out why. I don't think I'm coming back to this shop. read more

October 22, 2023 my wife, took her flat tire to the Bikes Smith bike store to get it fixed. They told her she also needed a new tire and refused to just fix her flat. So she bought a new tire. They then told her that she also needed a new front tire. I am a very experienced bike rider. Her back tire was fairly well used but it was still usable and did not need to be replaced. In addition, her front tire was perfectly fine. A huge rip off for $135 read more

Love these guys! I sell bikes on ebay and I didn't know where to get boxes to ship.. a local business referred me to The Bike Smith and they give me the boxes for free. Other local bike shops wanted to charge me $20-$40 for the boxes they get free. The staff is extremely nice and their pricing is very fair. The Bike Smith is a true local business with amazing values... I wish more businesses were run like them! Keep up the awesome work gentlemen! Customer for life! read more

Hi these folks are great . Great work and fantastic prices . Didn't try to oversell me anything in a bike repair and had it done in 24 hours. Super nice too. 5 stars since I've used them before and the work stayed perfectly with no other problems. Same great work and same great price . Trying to do 5 stars here but it's not sticking in the app. read more

Got disc brake bleeding done and great work. Was there for the Death Ride, couldn't get the brakes ready in time. Called Bike Smith after told off by 4-5 other LBS, Bike Smith was accommodating and get the work done in emergency mode and didn't overcharge. Thank you. read more

The staff here are always very friendly and helpful. The prices are very fair and quality of work is excellent. I have had them work on a few of my bikes and have never had to bring any of them back for anything which was missed. The turnaround on ordering parts and performing the work is normally done before the time I was initially quoted and I am so glad to have such a great bike shop close by. I purchased my bike from The Bike Smith December of 2018. The purchase was smooth and easy. Their entire staff took care of me in a very professional manner. Recently I brought my bike in for a handlebar swap. I have a newer set of bars from another bike I gave my Son and he put the Road bike bars back on. So Jimmy put the extra set of bars on and I'm very happy with the quality of work performed. I had made an appointment he said to hang out everything will swap out and he would do it right away. We went to Costco and it was ready on our return. Excellent service these people go the extra mile for you. All the Techs no their stuff and it's a pleasure to do business at this establishment. And thanks again Jimmy. Gary D. Dayton Valley read more

Was in need of a full bike tune so called several shops in CC. I tend to ask lots of questions and found the staff at Bike Smith knowledgable, friendly and more patient with me than some of the other shops! In addition their price for a tune up was reasonable. Thought a few other shops were pretty high especially when you ask what exactly their tune up included. However what really sold me was I could schedule an appointment that worked for me, and they committed to having it finished in 3 days. All of the other shops gave me the same line "we are busy now so you can drop it off and we will get to it as soon as possible" and they could not really tell me how long that might be. However all of them said it would not be in less than a week! So what moved it from 4 stars to 5 is they finished the tune up early, called me and I was able to pick up my bike in 2 days! Also they washed and cleaned it so good it looked like it was new! I have washed my bike over the years and it has never looked as clean as that! As for the tune up they did a great job. My bike is 8+ years old and the chain and cables are stretched so I could no longer get it to shift into all of the gears which sucked every time I hit a big hill. Thought I might need new cables or a chain to fix. However they were able to tune and it again shifts into all gears smoothly with no problem! So I would definitely recommend The Bike Smith! read more

In the process of moving to Carson City and I was looking for mountain rental bikes to explore the city and the plethora of surrounding trails. Stopped in to see what they had and well the last two rental bikes were e mountain bikes. I've been riding mounting bikes since 1990 and recently purchase an e-gravel bike. All I can say is WOW....those bikes were FANTASTIC! Adam was great at making sure we were both comfortable with the systems and ensured the bikes were correctly adjusted for our respective size. The care he took in adjusting the bike was like we were purchasing them. So if you are in the market to rent...don't walk run to the Bike Smith and ask for Adam! read more

We moved to Carson City a few months ago, and I have been delighted with The Bike Smith's service and support. I have a 2018 Levo that I have ridden hard and often. It requires a lot of TLC, perhaps more than I have given it. Fortunately, the folks at The Bike Smith have been willing and able to provide the excellent troubleshooting, repair, and TLC my Levo needs. Special shout-outs to Kyle and Spencer for their patience and professionalism. I highly recommend this shop for your cycling needs. read more

Excellent place to go for bike parts or repair. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Nice guys, let me do some service with their tools when they were slammed, and helped me out as well.

I purchased a bike online for my son's birthday present, after months of looking for one I finally found the right type/size. I took it to the Bike Smith to be assembled. I mentioned what it was for and they told me it would take a week or two, but that it would be a priority. A few hours later I got a call that it was all done! So not only did they do a great job putting it together, they had it back to me the same day which they did knowing it was a young boy's birthday present. Also my family has been purchasing/servicing bikes from these guys for years and it's always been a positive experience. read more

My free hub was not spinning so I took it to the Bike Smith. They called stan's rims and found out my hub was still under warranty. Love this bike shop. The people are knowledgeable and very helpful. They helped me pick out my first road bike and I absolutely love it!

I love The Bike Smith. They helped me with a Trek warranty issue several months ago and I've been in a few times since for service on my Downhill Bike. They are always knowledgeable and even when they have to order me parts, the turn around time is outstanding. I've never had to miss a weekend of riding, even when I ripped my derailleur off. Once on a Thursday they told me my brake pads were down to metal and they didn't have them in stock but could get them next day. They did, and then installed them, and I was on the dirt on Saturday. I usually work with Shawn, but Randy has helped me out too. They both have bike smarts, mechanic skills, and good customer service. read more

I'm a local with 2 bikes (mountain, road) and over 100,000 miles of bike commuting. This is a very good shop with courteous and helpful employees. On my last purchase (Specialized mountain bike) we had a lot of trouble with the brakes. They stuck with it and eventually upgraded the brake system with good results. They lost money with me, but gained a fan. Some friends of mine are also very pleased with this shop. read more
