Just bought a Trek FX 2 bike from here and I am very pleased. The staff is very friendly and cares about your experience at the store as well as your experience with the bike that you choose to ride on the road. I was sized and found the perfect bike for me thanks to the young lady that helped me and to Jeremiah the manager. CAMPUS SHOP Review - I love this place! Jake has always treated me right & is professional & personal. If I walk in here I know I'm going to get quality service & quality parts even if they have to order it. I needed parts for my 24" campus cruiser & he gladly helped me out. I wasn't met with a smug attitude because I wasn't riding a $5K Specialized(which is what you get with the other shops in town). The location in Waco Dr does have a larger selection but I actually prefer the smaller more personal atmosphere of the Campus shop. Bear Mountain is the ONLY place I'll go for my cycling needs! read more

I started looking for a new bike about a month ago, visiting bike shops in Austin and Waco. My first visit to Bear Mountain was a positive experience. This store earned my business by being informative, no pressure, and friendly. Overall laid back, comfortable shopping experience. That earned my business and I walked out with my new bike very satisfied with my purchase. If you are researching bikes for a new ride, my suggestion is stop reading and go visit Bear Mountain. I have gone in before looking for Chacos and went back today to buy them. Both times staff have been incredibly helpful and friendly. Their customer service is excellent. However, one employee, the one that wasn't helping me, was talking to another employee and trashing Chacos. Said that he told friends of his not to buy Chacos but Birkenstocks instead. They're not similar shoes.. I'm also not sure why he would be trash talking a product they sell when there are customers in the store. I knew what I wanted and what I was there to buy but if someone else was in there they probably would have lost the sale based on his comments. However, I'm giving them 5 stars based on the other employees I have interacted with. They were all friendly and knowledgable. read more

Best outdoor clothing/gear store in Waco. The staff and owner are awesome! Always ready to help and answer questions. They carry the best brands--Patagonia, North Face, Marmot, Arc'Teryx. Great selection and if they don't have something, they'll order it. The kind of place where they know your name, know what you like, call you if they see something you might want, give you a slice of pizza when you're hungry... the best. I bought my bike here a little under a month and a half ago. At the time, the staff was super helpful, and I was happy with my bike. However, since then my back tire has popped 3 times, simply from riding in the street and on sidewalk. When I came in and said it had popped 3 times in a little over a month, the guy said that was literally impossible and I was exaggerating...until he checked my payment history and changed his story to, "well it happens. Just keep coming back if it keeps happening." He clearly had no idea what's going on, but doesn't care very much because he still gets paid. Its like he knows he can get away with taking advantage of me because they are the only shop close to campus. At this point all I want is to be able to ride my bike to classes without my tire popping. I simply can't continue to pay for a new tire every ~13 days. If it pops again, I would be insane to go back and expect a different outcome. read more
