A trendy cafe across from the station attached to Castle Towers. We stopped in for coffee and breakfast on a Sunday morning, it was busy but was able to score a table out front. The cappuccino was top notch. I had The Baron, a fancy bacon egg roll with avo and garlic, it was messy and bloody fantastic. My wife had the Mister Francesco, really well made fritters, she summed it up with "it shits on any other fritters I have had", so thumbs up on that as well. read more

Came to the Baron for a lunch . There were 3 of us . We had a variety of goodies from the menu and it didn't disappoint. We also had 3 cappuccinos . Coffee was very average and served in a very small cup. It has vegan options too which is imperative for us. We have 3 different taste buds, a carnivore , vegan and clean eater and we were all able to get something we liked. It's a great vibe in the Hills with yummy food and good and efficient service. Urban style comes to Castle Hill. It's finally arrived, a new funky coffee shop put together on a budget and with an industrial feel to it. Castle Hill is leafy, conservative and comfortable but the guys involved in The Baron have shaken the suburb with a brand new look for the area. Cement floors, plain brick, partially plastered walls and an assortment of chairs and tables make this cafe stand out from all the others, plus they really deliver with the food. I can't describe the coffee, it is so good - a single estate and made with skill. Their menu is very short but is quite delectable. The two 'sandwiches' are very different and served on ciabatta, their cooked meals also 'stray from the norm' Castle Hill fare. Don't forget their takeaway! Prices are good, services is great and the guys very friendly - maybe a little too hip for this sleepy suburb. Hope they are around for a long time. read more

We got to the baron and 2 unlikely questions popped out of my mouth. 1) I have to put my name down and wait in line for brunch? 2) Why does this place look so hipster? Oh deary what has happened to Castle Hill?! A change for the good but just give me a minute to process it. FOOD I ordered the little pig slider (slow braised bourbon 'n coke pork w creamy red cabbage slaw on brioche). At $7.5 I was thinking damn it's a bargain! It wasn't very big though. Good thing I'd have breakfast beforehand so this was more like morning tea for me. The pork tasted great although the bun was a bit sweet which didn't quite match. SERVICE We sat outside and the service was slow. My friend's espresso didn't make it out and we must've called for the waiter at numerous stages only to be ignored because they were too busy and rushing around. read more

People have talked about this place. It bustles. The staff are friendly and it obviously a regular spot for many sitting around me. I was on my way to work, and street parking was not good so I parked on the upper level of the Towers which opens earlier than the main area. I ordered the muesli. They could call it Muesli Mountain! Nah, not really that high, but certainly plenty in the serve. I surrendered to it, and asked for the rest as a take out to nibble on if it was a slow morning at my workplace. So I thought that Cosmos was the best coffee in the Hills, until I had my cup of coffee in the Baron. So the Baron is using coffee beans from Single Origin, and so you know that the coffee is going to be good. And it is. I haven't had any food here so I don't know what's it's like. Arrived about 10.30 on Saturday and the place was packed! The waitress took down my name and said that there would be about a 10 min wait - which wasn't too bad. You may have to flag down a waitress when you are ready to order. We were seated at the end of a large communal table. I ordered the Return of the Avo on toast and Jen got the Bacon & Egg Roll. We also ordered the Black-ish fried rice to share. My avo on rye was simple yet tasty - the herb sauce (similar to a salsa verde) was amazing! The blackish fried rice with chorizo, chilli, garlic, spring onion and fried egg is the bomb! A combination of sweet and salty! As we were leaving someone had ordered this but also added fetta cheese and avocado! Even better combination! Overall, Great first time visit, will definitely be back again. Cool place near the bus stop at castle towers. My brother recommended it as he's a bit of a trendy so have it a go. Warehouse type interior, cement rendered floors and wooden tables. Waitress was lovely and had a friendly vibe. I got a beautiful latte which tasted very nice, Ethiopian single origin blend. I hadn't had breakfast and ordered two things: muesli delight and maxx power salad. The first dish was a beautifully presented toasted muesli - with strawberries, edible flowers poached quince and rose syrup and coyo. This was delicious and I'd definately order again. The coconut yoghurt was Particularly nice. The second dish was a plate of healthy stuff; boiled egg, slightly runny but not oozing, a large piece of pumpkin, quinoa, half an avocado (rare with the price these days), and a red cabbage and greens salad. It was accompanied with an eggplant purée. Not a huge amount of flavour but tasted very fresh and healthy. read more

Really enjoyed brunch at this place. Small, coffee house type atmosphere...hip and trendy. Best array of brunch items we've found in the area. (Many other restaurant/cafes are uninspiring.) Pictures on Foodspotting drew us in. Had the Breakfast plate, while wife had the Avo on Toast and kids had the Bacon and Egg Roll and Banana Bread with Passionfruit Butter. The Baron is The Place to be for Brunch in Castle Hill. Hipster decor, good coffee, and interesting breakfast options make it basically a no-brainer compared to the boring bacon and eggs and crappy cappuccinos you can find anywhere else in the area. Unfortunately it's usually quite busy on weekends for this reason, and there's not a lot of seating overall, even including the outside seating which is not a bit exposed and noisy. Be prepared to wait if you arrive at peak brunchtimes. Highlight for me was the breakfast platter, which has some cold meats, a tasty soft boiled egg and an inspired avocado/fetta combo. They do turn into a bar at night, but I've never been so I can't vouch for what that's like. An interesting idea though, not sure it works in The Baron's out of the way location? read more

Inner city hipster coolness brought into the hills area. This place is always buzzing with people either lining up for coffee to go or devouring one of their killer sandwiches from the lunch menu. I come here quite regularly for brunch and coffee. The gourmet bacon and egg roll is lifted from the basic bacon and egg roll by the aioli and relish. The espresso shot of single origin coffee has nice flavours that isn't too bitter or sour. Good to see a small business still going so strong after a few years. read more

This is a trendy cafe serving good food and good coffee. Would have given 4.5 stars if I could. We had coffee and BAE (bacon & egg roll). The bacon is delicious and generous. The accompanying sauce and egg is great. Coffee is good+. The service was good and food arrived quickly. My only complaints are the acoustics and they need more tables an chairs. They've packed them I but could use more space. Treat yourself and give this place a bite and sip. Better then anything you'll get in the shopping centre!! read more

Fantastic coffee made by true barista's, funky decor and friendly staff. Definitely the place to have coffee in the North West. Haven't tried the food yet but it looks delicious. Location on the left outside (just up the escalators near Surf, Dive & Ski) on Old Castle Hill road is interesting and out of the way a bit, but will be perfect for when the new train station is completed. I'm sure many will enjoy having their morning beverage here. read more

Read about this place on urban list. It was packed! Had a very industrial hipster feel to it, polished concrete and wooden seats. Ordered the Cuban sandwich and wow! everything you want a Cuban to be and more. Rich buttery on the outside and bursting with flavour on the inside. One thing, the coffee was a little disappointing, it wasn't very hot and not sure what beans the use, but they lacked the punch I need on a sleepy Sunday. Not being a coffee drinker I can't comment on their coffee - however I stopped by here for lunch today and grabbed the bacon and egg roll which was delicious, while my friend had the tofu noodle salad (which was equally as delicious). Great inner city vibe in the hills (complete with a table of hipster guys nearby). Don't expect the come here for quiet conversation though - the industrial styling complete with concrete walls makes for a very noisy experience! 3.5 stars I like trying all the new cafes I hear about . The Baron is no different to any of the new hipster cafes. old industrial feel . concrete floor, old distressed boards on the wall and old industrial bits and pieces scattered throughout. outside old chests are used for tables- you know the look. It does create a nice casual feeling but is starting to get a bit samey. I went here for a late lunch with a friend . The menu choices are limited and I had a hard time finding something I wanted to eat . They ordered coffee and a bacon and egg roll I ordered a carrot cake/ muffin and just had water my friend loved the coffee - they said it was the best in the area and also loved the bacon and egg roll - good food done well My muffin was not so good the icing was a horrible butter icing - I was expecting cream cheese frosting - my own fault for not asking . I definitely will come back again ( my friend will definitely make me judging by her comments) . I am hoping that when I return that the menu is seasonal and there is something new that I want to try read more

I have also had the worst coffee I've ever had (very literally and truly gag-able) from the baron. Great if you like strong coffee. The servings are quite small for the price you pay.The staff are friendly and lovely people but it can get busy enough that you are forgotten. The food is great quality but the servings are quite small so you end up spending more on food.
