Same man works downtown, frequents the Barlow, the downtown plaza, Starbucks locations, Safeway and whole foods. Also many employees of the businesses downtown are part of this scam. Don't spend your money here. I mean go ahead spend your money in the Barlow, but I wouldn't take money anywhere on main Street or anywhere in the downtown vicinity, definitely never ever ever show anybody that you have money here, they will definitely try to defraud you. If some seemingly sweet middle-aged blonde woman offers you a cup of juice, ignore her or refuse it, she does the exact same scam in the plaza while on her break. Her method is that she'll claim that the person stole the juice and that they owe her $15. Because she's an employee of a business she has more of the say than any random civilian walking around town, and the police are easily swayed to take cash from anyone. Also if you walk by the Rialto you might get hit in the head by a security guard for no reason other than he's mentally ill, and everyone likes hiring autistic security guards because they're nice and friendly normally. Basically if you see a Cadillac or a Buick you're about to get screwed for any cash you might be carrying as well as any personal belongings that the fraudsters want their hands on. read more

Originally came here for the French bakery. We ended up going around to the different stores. We found some unique item that you don't normally see. They also have a nice variety of restaurants. I noticed that they have plenty of free parking. Even with the big apple fair going on,we still found parking really fast. It was a little early for us to eat . The Barlow is a 12 acre outdoor market so there is plenty to do and explore in this area. There are lots of local food restaurants, wine tasting rooms, places with beer and spirits, boutique shops, a cheese shop, and stores with local crafts and goods. The service at all of the places I have been to is excellent and everyone is friendly and inviting. As far as food, I love the Osito Tacos, because who doesn't love tacos. I haven't tried all the food options here but the ones I have tried were all great. I also love Region, a self-serve wine bar, and enjoy sampling different wines. Each month they feature a winery and you can enjoy a flight of wines or partake in different events they have. The Barlow is dog friendly so you will see cute dogs on leashes. They have plenty of outdoor and indoor areas to sit, relax, and enjoy your time there. What a cute outdoor mall! So I have been following this place on insta since it opened and always wanted to check it out. But it's just a bit too far for a trip on its own. However, we ended up in Sebastopol today and a city sign reminded me of this gem. This place is seriously cool. A nice area with shops, a local market, some cool restaurants and breweries, and even a kids outdoor area. You could easily make it a day with girlfriends. Try one of the award winning restaurants, craft breweries, spirits, and wineries. The Barlow is the bomb! Why anyone would give any less than a 5-star review is beyond my way of thinking! This is a lovely place to visit year-round. Family friendly, solo exploring, hanging with friends, and a fun date outing for sure! Definitely fits the bill of something for everyone! This was my first time ever coming to downtown Sebastopol and goodness it was so freaking cute!! Initially, my boyfriend and I came to this particular area because they had an organic coffee house that I wanted to check out! Then we discovered there was a whole little shopping district!! Basically told the same story of how this used to be an apple refinery or some sort of Apple canning facility, 30 or 40 years ago. The new owner ended up breaking up each farmhouse into multiple stores and then lighting up everything and out each section! It's such a cute well lit of different things from places to eat, wine, tasting, and clothing shops along with some outdoor things for kids to do while parents are snacking and eating! I would love to come and spend a day here but this particular day we brought our two puppies and one of my dogs is incredibly picky and elderly, so he wasn't really into all the walking around and the loud noises. Lol my other puppy was rather intrigued with , everything but puppies really like the smell of the pizza spot on the corner!! We ended up eating there as well as getting some coffee and some tacos to go at one of the other places! I will definitely come back again!! I love The Barlow! Think warehouse district turned local shopping district and outdoor makers market. I just learned that The Barlow was originally a few warehouses that were home to Thomas Barlow's applesauce production and cannery. Although vineyards have taken over many of Sebastopol's apple orchards, Sebastopol's apple industry is still going strong. The Barlow contains restaurants, a coffee shop, wine tasting rooms, boutique clothing shops, breweries, and more. You can tell from the many reviews that a lot of people love The Barlow, so I am in the minority. We made a day trip to Sebastopol from SF, I had seen where it was named "one of the most zen cities in America." I think the Barlow is for everyone else who doesn't like the zen. It's like an outdoor mall, you can stroll from cool place to place but it skews towards affluence and just wasn't my cup of tea. The Barlow, to an outside visitor, seems a brilliant way to repurpose industrial/agricultural buildings and turn them into a gathering space with charm. The vintage warehouses now offer places for a variety of businesses to flourish. We've visited on several occasions. Each time reveals even more about the options within the broader campus. Recently, we visited with my sister-in-law. We were looking to spend some time before my brother could join us. We happened upon a monthly crafts fair - serendipitous! We ended up strolling by the booths and each picked up a few little items. Though we didn't purchase, we were all fascinated by the crafter who was repurposing vintage luggage, outfitting the pieces with modern-day sound gear of speakers, Bluetooth transmitters, etc. Very clever! The fall weather was absolutely perfect for wandering around the site. Our SIL mentioned several of the restaurants where they'd enjoyed dining. It seemed like many of the food / beverage places had indoor/outdoor seating options. Perfect for this climate! We ended up walking to one of the coffee places in the center of the complex for a refreshment break. That provided a chance to hang out and enjoy the scenery of the vibe that's been created in this area. There were a couple of musicians performing during the crafts show. Might have been part of that whole event, or just a weekend thing. Either way, that added to the overall experience. I had no idea The Barlow district even existed until one day last year we accidentally drove up on it. It's a beautiful area with several repurposed farm storehouses lining the main road. We've now gone back a couple of times and the storefronts seem to be increasing each visit. For those of you who aren't in the know, The Barlow is a 12 acre outdoor market district where you can find local food, wine, beer various retail stores - all local to Sonoma. I've been to a couple of the restaurants (The Farmers Wife and Acre Pizza), the coffee shop (Taylor Lane), and a brewery (Crooked Goat), and all were excellent. Parking is plentiful (at least when I've been there) and free (but keep it to 2 hours). I see they are now offering tasting tours around the district which I think would be excellent and give you a mouth watering sampling of what the district offers. For sure visit The Barlow next time you pass through Sebastopol and be sure to arrive thirsty and with an empty stomach. read more

Eating, drinking, fancy and not fancy, the Barlow has all the different food groups represented. Sushi, coffee, pizza, Mexican, sandwiches, smoothies, cheese and of course, ice cream. Of course, this is Sonoma County so you can expect to find wine shops and wine tastings and wine bars here too! Don't forget the art galleries and floral shop. Tons of outdoor seating, games areas, play spaces for the kids and shady spots to eat and drink. I was fortunate to find street parking for the Sprinter van on a Sunday evening even though the place was quite busy. After some wandering and thinking about our last stop on our weekend drive, we landed at Golden State Cider and that's the next review. I absolutely adore this place! The Barlow is a fun little marketplace that's tucked away in downtown Sebastopol. The marketplace features a plethora of wine and beer tasting rooms, local and boutique shops, restaurants, bakeries, arts & crafts, and specialty food shops. I came here for the first time with a friend who comes here regularly, and I was blown away by how many shops were here! Sebastopol is a small town but the Barlow definitely packs a big punch. It's like the local hangout spot in town, but people come from all over to check it out. There's a large open patio space with tons of shaded tables that are shared amongst the different businesses. There's also grassy field space that's perfect for picnicking and child or dog play. When the weather is warm out, this place is bustling! Because there's lots to do, you can literally spend your entire day hanging out here without leaving to go anywhere else. Parking is pretty easy and convenient as well. Looking forward to exploring more of the shops in the Barlow, and I'd highly recommend a visit if you're looking for something fresh and fun to do in wine country. read more

This is a cute little shopping district, with boutique home goods and clothing stores, a cheese shop, a few breweries, a bar with unique mixed drinks, a cider mill, wine shop, ice cream, olive oil, and a quaint grocery store/market with a coffee bar, and several restaurants and a theater. You could easily spend a few hours or half a day there. When we went, the weather was beautiful, so we leisurely strolled through the shops, had a snack and a beer at one of the breweries, sampled cheese, and picked up a few things at the market. We are from Southern California, staying in Sonoma for the weekend, but commented that this would be a fun and relaxing area to stay on a future trip, especially with all of the drinking establishments. read more

If you are looking for a sweet treat, then I recommend the vanilla pastry cream from Red Bird Bakery. We picked up some amazing flavored olive oils and balsamics at IL Fusti. I understand what they're going for with The Barlow but it's not quite my scene. The whole concept of revitalizing some industrial spaces with bars, restaurants and shopping is a great one and it is a cool little area. Free parking and a nice community vibe can be found here. I just didn't happen upon any interesting shops or galleries. While there are definitely some interesting food choices, it's limited. I would have rather spent my time in the downtown area of Sebastopol for some more variety. It's a cool space and a draw as a meet up spot for friends and families, but not a destination if you're just visiting the area. I truly wanted to like it more but simply didn't. After browsing maybe 4 outrageously priced shops, having some lunch and doing a lap around the area I left thinking "that's it?" Maybe more will grow around here and I hope it does but I can't see coming back. read more

There's a legit CHEESE ROOM/CAVE that you can peek in to drool over the many beautiful wheels of cheesy goodness. All artisan made with cheese from Petaluma. I sampled a delicious cheddar and two types of blue cheese and some cheese curds. Absolute heaven. I bought some of all three and I pretty much are the whole bag of cheese curds in a day while wine tasting. YUM. He also has other local cheeses there to purchase and taste.
