It is one of my favorite stores, and the couple who own it, and their workers, are all nice, friendly people. Fundemonium is definitely my favorite hobby/toy store in the area. Their employees are always helpful, kind, and knowledgeable about the products they carry. I recently came in to purchase a Gundam model kit for my partner as a gift. Employees Kyle and Andrew were extremely helpful helping me find the right tools and lead me in the right direction. Although I ended up returning it the next day (the product was great, just bought the wrong one) Kyle assisted me in possibly finding a replacement and quickly looked through their inventory to find the right one. 100/10 customer service. Always a great selection in any department you visit. And they even have RC racing, children's events, and weeknight meet ups for hobbyists, card players, and board games. Wonderful place to find unique gifts for kids and huge selection of legos. Staff are sweet and very helpful. They even do complimentary gift wrapping too! Weekly they have events including. Pokémon trading and game night event, which we will probably take our 7 y/o son to check out. Lots of specialty candies and novelty gifts too. Would recommend this toy store to anyone! We had our 3-year old's birthday here and it was perfect. The little play area, "Bot Town" was reserved for us and it was just the right speed for our group of 2 and 3 year olds with plenty for them to do in a contained area. The party room was large and fit our 30 guests, and Fundemonium handled the decorations, plates, cups, etc. The owner, Jean, was so helpful and was available for the duration of our event. Whenever I have any questions or need assistance, mr judge kyle is always there to help me out. Pokemon tournaments aside, he is always helpful when it comes to choosing from the amazing selection of product available. Staff is very helpful! Bought an RC aircraft from them and, of course, crashed it. Bent the shaft in the gear box so I needed a replacement. They ordered the parts for me and let me know when they were ready for pickup. They also gave me some pointers on the repair and the right type of glue to use. Hands down the best hobby shop I've been to. If they don't have something in stock, they will get it for you. Highly recommend! read more

What a great local business!! They have a wide variety of games, toys and goodies and delightful staff! There is a whole part if it thats group gaming and RC racing that is super fun, though not open during covid19 stuff currently. Speaking of covid 19 and social distancing... we were able to buy a birthday present gift card over the phone, make a cute poster with the code on it, present it to friend over video chat and then he was able to shop online/over the phone and use gift card, then pick it up curbside! I have been frustrated with other party venues that have a "party host" but I have to track them down and ask to have things done when they should already be doing it. I normally do not write reviews but felt the need to given our experience today. The store as a whole is great, my son loves coming here. The floor staff have been extremely welcoming in the past (as well as what I assume is the male co-owner of the business). HOWEVER, I do not know what it was about the interaction with the female co-owner that did not sit well with me. She followed us around the store and constantly kept an eye on us as shopped. It felt as if she was expecting me or my 6 year old son to steal something. As we were paying, she told my 6 year old "make sure you put that back before you leave"....my son and I are also people of color. I do not throw things around like this lightly. As amazing as a store this is, I will not be returning back and will be telling others about my experience with the female owner. This was not my first time in the store and have felt this way from the owner several times. read more

I've been to Fundemonium about 10 times. It's always been an enjoyable experience for my kids and I until this last visit. I had 2 of my kids with me and I wanted to check out their slot car selection. The older lady, whom I assume is the owner (I overheard her micromanaging some employees as I came in) approached me. I asked where the slot cars were located. She told me their stock was really low and I asked her what the price range was on the cars they typically sell. I have no idea what the entry cost into the hobby is and wanted to get a rough idea of what it would cost me. She seemed really annoyed with that question and became short with me. Almost like she thought I was just pricing them out and taking my business elsewhere. I didn't appreciate her unwarranted attitude. I was nothing but polite the entire time. It's okay though because I won't be back. Judging from other negative reviews, I can almost guarantee this will get a snarky response from the owner(s). This place is above and beyond with their customer service and attention to detail. I was in a last minute rush to get a gift after an item I ordered online was delayed. I called the store and Steven asked the age and style of the birthday kid and gave some wonderful recommendations for every budget by popularity. He is organized and keeps the kids engage. I will never buy my child anything from this place again! I spent over $200 for a Russian army tank that broke after my son used it the very first time. We didn't take it in right away but when I did I was told it would take 2weeks to get the parts and it's been over 3months and I still haven't heard back from them about anything. They dont do refunds! It's ridiculous! And they're over priced! They should be shut down! The owner is a greedy old guy that steals from innocent little kids that come in to buy toys from there! Went in for marbles. Got as many in the bag as I wanted. Tied it. Walked around with two kids They pointed items out said for their next birthday they wanted this toy or that model car. Was asked about every three aisles if I needed help. Guy in the RC's was rather rude when I took a photo of an in the case RC truck that I knew a friend would love. "Are you looking for a gift?" "No I am just admiring" audible sigh. Picked out our name card walked to the register was ignored for a few minutes while the older woman had her back to the counter. When she turned around she started feeling the bag of marbles and started to make a comment about fitting more in. "Yes I know we could but we have as many as we need, thank you." I saw the eye roll. Do they discriminate because I had two kids walk the store with me instead of dumping them in the play area for the 15 minutes we were in the store? read more

We had an amazing time with the animal creation party! I can't say enough about the staff and the helpers we got with the package. They make it as easy as possible for the parents. They offer food, can put together the goodie bags, help with set up and clean up! I can't say how impressed I was. We had kids ranging from 11 months to 13 years and they all enjoyed it! Toy store meets hobby store meets kid activity center-- this place has it all! My mom and I were passing through for a business meeting in the Bay Area. I promised I would bring my son back a little gift for patiently waiting for me. On a whim, we decided to stop to check this place out and we are so glad we did! The first thing we noticed was the size of the store...it's huge!! Already we wished my son could have joined us for the experience. There are little toy sample stations sprinkled around the store to test and play with the products --- try before you buy. Such as: sand clay, small robot demo, model train display, etc. Can you do that at a regular retail store??? No way! You won't get that forced smile "hurry up and buy something and leave" attitude. The employees are sincere, friendly, and super helpful. I love how everything is clean and organized. We bought my son a sack of planet marbles -- you wouldn't be able to find something like this at a Target or Walmart. For a small fee: there is an RC rental with large speedway to race around which is super cool. A fenced in pretend play area with kitchen, dollhouses, magnet play, etc. There is also an area to hold birthday parties. Truly a special place to find that perfect gift! I love the selection of educational toys they offer; Melissa and Doug, Brio, etc ***Be sure to sign up for their frequent buyer program for savings and additional fun bonuses*** We brought home the planet marbles and my son L-O-V-E-D it!! I can't recommend this place enough. Seriously it's the best modeling shop in the Bay Area, and not just because of inventory, but customer service. All the employees there know me by name, they ask how my projects are going, and they even remember what projects I'm working on. They have an amazing array of paints like Testors, Tamiya, Model Master as well as thinners, modeling tools like knives, cutting boards; balsa; paint brushes, glues, and seriously much much mor...and nearest and dearest to my heart: model rockets. We had our car loving son's 10th birthday here and it was fantastic! The kids had an absolute blast...and us parents had a great time watching and/or participating in the the action as well. We chose an rc car racing party. The whole staff was a pleasure to work with and made scheduling and planning smooth and easy. The party was well organized with some fun free time and an activity before the racing began and the racing was organized perfectly so all kids got equal racing time. When not racing the kids had just as much fun on the pit crew. We opted to have them provide the pizza which was take and bake that they made there so it was hot and fresh...and really good pizza. (I was hesitant about this since I didn't recognize the pizza company so I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was!) Kids and parents got to pick from a variety of drinks out of the fridge to put on our tab which worked out well. We chose to give the kiddos $5 gift cards for their party favors and they had a blast picking out their own toys and/or candy. It was the perfect way to end a great party! Besides the party, we also enjoy shopping at Fundemonium. All staff are always friendly, welcoming and helpful and the rc staff really know their stuff and are passionate about rc's! read more

Tonight me and group of friends went inside the store for the first time excited to see the toys, I came in with food and admittedly did eat some and Jean (the co-owner) asked me to not eat and of course I listened as I understood. I felt bad so I went out of my way to go outside and throw away the food. When I came back my friends told me that they over heard jean say to another coworker "let's keep an eye on the dark skin boy" which was one of my friends. I thought they just heard it wrong, till i realized she would consistently follow us around trying to be discreet and would constantly ask us questions(specifically more my friend). Note that me and all my friends are of color. It also seemed like she would tell her coworkers to watch us, and indeed they did follow us and ask us questions. I even put it to the test and separated from my 2 friends (who are a bit darker in skin color than myself) and Jean did in fact follow in their direction trying to make it seem unnoticeable. Definitely the worst welcome to a new store i've ever had. read more

This is a great store and the owners have really made it work. We live in east Sebastopol, so this is very close to us and offers fun things for the whole family, my husband likes the RC Cars and my son and he are both into LEGO, I think they have a great board game and puzzle selection. It's more expensive than Target or Walmart, but I'm happy to pay more knowing I'm supporting people and not a corporate entity. Last time I was in they were quiet, so when my son shopped I had a nice conversation with their employee Sam about video games and board games as well, he was very knowledgeable about both and even offered to see if there were any upcoming expansions for the games I like, there were not but I'll definitely be checking back.
