I wanted to formally express my concern regarding an interaction I recently had while attempting to apply for a position at your business. During the conversation, the manager stated that I was "begging for a job," which I found to be unprofessional and discouraging. Comments like this create the impression of a hostile or toxic work environment and are not appropriate when someone is simply seeking employment. Additionally, I was concerned to observe that an apprentice groomer appears to be grooming dogs without proper licensing or supervision. If that is the case, it raises serious questions regarding safety, compliance, and professional standards. I plan to review the relevant regulations regarding grooming practices. If necessary, I will consider reporting the situation to the appropriate authorities, including the ASPCA. My hope is simply that all animals are being cared for safely and that the workplace maintains a professional standard for both employees and clients. read more

We called to get our Dog Nala in for a full service groom. She smelled SO good, her nails look and feel so much better and she was just a happy doggy after. They even gave her a cute little bandana and she looked so cute! If we were not moving to Virginia in 2 weeks we would definitely bring her back every time. I'm not sure how she got her nails so perfect because Nala is pretty finicky so whatever you did, THANK YOU. Nobody, I mean NOBODY, has/will trim her nails as perfect as you did. Our Sawyer goes nuts when we tell him he's going to daycare (we call it class). He has an insane amount of energy and when we get him back at the end of the day he's calm, happy, and tired. Good experience here. Ranger initially came while we were away at a wedding. Little skittish at first but he warmed up quick. Now we bring him and his new brother and they have a blast. Way closer to home and a bit cheaper than our other place. He prefers this too even though he has spent more time at another dog facility in Denver. Sometimes I'm waiting a bit when I walk in for someone. Staff is outside. Maybe a groomer busy in the back. Still a great place though. Friendly staff and the pickup and drop off situation is extremely quick. Big fan of the doggie report cards they do. Initial visit and boarding stays. Nice to know what my "kids" have been up to that day. Big open lot out front so you won't have trouble parking. Sometimes in the morning they'll even come out and grab your furry friend for you! read more

We have boarded our dogs here a few times previously and always had a great experience! The staff is so friendly, work great with all the dogs and are super knowledgeable. Our dogs got groomed while they were boarded this last stay and it was amazing-their coats were so soft and they smelled great! This last time I brought my cockers in for a COCKER CUT, I was extremely disappointed. I had asked for Val since she did such a good job the last time. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what but I picked up two shaved dogs. Sorry - but at $100 I can shave the dogs myself. I can see where MAYBE the one might have had a little matting (although he was just brushed) on the ears - but my girl had JUST BEEN to this facility two months prior. NO WAY did she have any matts. NO WAY AT ALL. Spoke to the owner about it who offered no reparations whatsoever. Won't be back. read more

I don't know who loves this place more - me or my pup. Callie is going on 6 months border collie/mini Australian shepherd mix that has a TON of energy, and she comes home happy and tired. She's just excited to get in there as she is when she sees me to pick her up! I often drop her off just because she loves it and I know she's in great hands. Keep in mind she's pretty shy at first with other dogs, but the staff here got her warmed up and now she runs up to dogs 3 times her size at the dog park. I cannot say how thankful we are to have a place that the staff loves her as much as we do. read more

I wish I could review these guys based on having my pit mix there in person, but they participate in breed discrimination, so I can't. The woman I spoke to on the phone sounded busy, but took the time to explain it was a personal choice of the owners to participate in breed discrimination and offered me a referral to another daycare. However, I would urge The Barking Lot to consider case-by-case assessments of dog behavior, and accept dogs based on demonstrated sociability, regardless of stereotypes around breed. The ASPCA officially declares that pit bulls are not more prone to aggression or biting than any other breed of dog (https://www.aspca.org/about-us/aspca-policy-and-position-statements/position-statement-pit-bulls). Dog behaviorists assert that dogs should not collectively discriminated against based on their breed. I don't understand how The Barking Lot can't comprehend this. Based on this information, it's obvious that pit bulls deserve the same treatment as other breeds who have been proven to be just as likely to bite, including: Chow Chows Chihuahuas German Shepherds Cocker Spaniels Yorkies Corgis Rottweilers Labradors Great Danes St. Bernards Akitas Australian Shepherd Lhasa Apso Jack Russell Terrier Cocker Spaniel Bull Terrier Pekingese Papillion Not to mention mixed breeds... ...which reminds me, you know what's funny? Reasonably priced, most friendly staff ever, and I know they spend a lot of time with the dogs. I left my pup with them overnight and when I came back to pick her up the next day they gave me a report card - in only 24 hours, they were able to describe her personality and knew her tendencies and preferences almost as well as we do at home! They told us which dogs she enjoyed spending time with and even posted photos of her playing and hanging out on their Facebook page that day. Truly impressed with the service that the Barking Lot provides and will bring my dog "Boopy" back here in the future when we need boarding services. read more

I started going to The Barking Lot off of a referral from a friend, who had previously taken her dog to one of the corporate chain day care companies. She RAVED about how great the Barking Lot was, including their groomer! We've been attending here for a couple weeks and while Murph seems to love every day care, I really enjoy the customer service here. The way they treat dogs' owners is SO important and the staff has been kind & caring. We did have a small altercation when another dog's jaw got stuck on a Murphy's collar and they freaked out and got into a small fight, but the staff was great with how they walked me through the situation and was sure to explain neither dog was in the wrong. I'm not one that usually writes reviews, but I love this place so much, I had to share. I'm an overprotective dog mom, so I was nervous the first few times we dropped our little Roux off, but she LOVES it there! She's shy around new people and new things, but she's got no problems with any of the folks at The Barking Lot. We pull up in the parking lot and she practically forgets that I exist. The staff is so kind and caring. I know Roux is well taken care of whether I'm leaving her for a day of daycare, a few days for boarding, or just getting her nails trimmed. I was so excited to check out a new daycare place with my dog - everyone who meets him comments on how friendly and nice he is. After walking in I was told that they do not allow pitbulls (nor walk-ins). There is no breed restriction law in Arvada, Westminster, Wheat Ridge or anywhere west of Denver. I was told that it is because of their insurance. The level of ignorance involved in this decision making is mind boggling to me. I have a fuzzy, clean puppy at home tonight, thanks to the Barking Lot. I just moved to Arvada and this place is down the street from me. Zed was due for a bath and a haircut, but I've reached my limit on doing all that stuff myself. He hates getting baths and he hates having his fur trimmed. So, naturally, I hate doing both of those things myself. I popped in on my way back from a walk and they had an opening right then to get him groomed. I came back about an hour and a half later and the woman who does the grooming was just finishing up. I could hear her in the back, talking to Zed in a sweet tone and keeping him calm the whole time. Heck, she even managed to get his nails cut on her own, something that normally takes 2-3 vet techs to achieve. She had to cut his hair a little shorter than I wanted, mostly because Mr. Zed had developed some rather large dreadlocks that needed removing (if he would just let me brush him, that wouldn't be an issue, but he's a brat), so next time, we'll be able to keep it a little longer. Overall, my dog is clean and I am happy and the price was MORE than reasonable for how well my pup was groomed. I would highly recommend this place for anyone in the Arvada area. read more

This place is a wonderful facility otherwise, and while I do understand the frustration, I'd like to open these reviewers minds a bit. Most often decisions like these also have to be made due to insurance concerns. Before sending hate mail to the owner, stop to think about the red tape that is the real issue. No one blames the big corporations but in reality they are most often to blame. I'm giving 5 stars b/c of my personal experience w/ the staff and facility as well as the diplomatic responses from the owner for these reviews. Wow looks like I'm the first to review?! I RULE!!! Anyway we have been using The Barking Lot for 5yrs now they are the best around! I love the staff which really hasn't change, I think one new face. We have used them for boarding, daycare, and grooming of our Aussie/Akita mix and they do such a great job. They really go out of their way to get to know my dog and you can really tell that they are all animal lovers. Their hours of operation are from 7-7 and if you live in the area it makes it nice to be able to drop off your critter before work and pick him up on the way home.The facility it really big and is always clean, although you are not allowed in the back you can see it and its always clean even in the winter. Its both indoor and outdoor so the dogs are not trapped inside and like I said its really big pleanty of room. They also have seperate gated areas to keep them seperate if needed for what ever reason. Prices are really good too, $20 for all day daycare. You can buy a punch card that gives you a discount and if you have more than one dog the price drops. Grooming fees are good,depending on the dog of course. Not sure what else to say other than its a great place to take your dog. I know my dog is pooped after a day at day care, its awesome!!! read more

I was very disappointed with how the dogs are in kennels for lunch with no supervision, during which time my dog chewed through his new harness. The staff blamed my dog saying that he had "anxiety over his lunch break" if you saw a dog struggling with his harness why wouldn't you just remove it? Or tell me to not drop him off with it on. I did not appreciate how the staff handled the situation. if I wanted my dog ignored in a kennel I wouldn't pay for daycare. The lunch I brought for him had not been touched when I picked him up which means he didn't eat from 8am to 7pm while he was there he just chewed through his harness and no one noticed? read more

Out of desperation, I tried this facility after my dog had been banned from other facilities. She is a good girl, but she is a rescue with behavior problems. Deanna, banned my dog, but she explained to me why she did, she gave me training recommendations, and even offered to retrial. Compassion like that has not been shown to me and my pup yet, and to top it of that she even called and followed up. Deanna really seemed to care, not just for my dogs but for all the dogs at her work, it was a night and day experience from the other places I have been. read more

I didn't actually use these groomers because I have called at least 8 times during business hours over the last three days that they were open and nobody ever answered the phone. I got their voicemail every time and left at least 3 messages with my cell number - never got a call back. You would think if somebody leaves a message saying they were a potential new customer and wanting to set up a grooming time, they would at least have the decency to return the call...Unfortunate. read more

I literally think this is the best day care in the Denver area ! My little boy spruce, an Australian Shepard, has been coming here close to two years now! I moved away briefly out of state, and would watch my dog on the cameras of this other day care just following around the humans and very unhappy. He is so loved and cared for at the barking lot, and just comes home happy, it was actually heart breaking watching his behavior when we had moved. I trust the staff immensely, and also think the groomer here is wonderful! She is so gentle with my boy, and does an amazing job grooming him ! I have read horror stories of other places that have injured dogs in grooming and actually punctured ribs and stuff, so it is very reassuring to know here your dog will be handled so well and gently, and also treated so well! I love this place and wouldn't consider going anywhere else! They evaluate the dogs very well that attend here as well, so the pack is also a lot of really good dogs!!! This review is a long time coming! We have used barking lot several times and have always had a great experience there. It is always difficult to find a place to trust with your beloved pups but look no further. The barking lot is amazing! The owner Paul is awesome and made us feel at ease. You can tell he genuinely cares about your dogs. The facility is great because the dogs have an open area that they are able to run around and play all day. You don't have to feel guilty because you know that at the barking lot the dogs are running free and getting lots of love from the staff. Our dogs come home exhausted every time and get excited every time we drop them off! The prices here are more than fair and I am happy to pay anyone that takes good care of my dogs! We love The Barking Lot!!! After having a very bad first experience at a doggie daycare, where our little girl got kennel cough and giardia, we have been extremely hesitant to take her anywhere else! But the staff at The Barking Lot put me at ease the second Pepper and I walked in! I was so happy that they took me, the human, on a tour of the entire facility, I got to see where my pup will play, cool off in the pools, and nap! I absolutely loved that! The staff has been so great with Pepper and you can tell they love their job! We have now gone 2 times and Pepper was so excited when we pulled into the parking lot and I love picking her up and she's all wet from the puppy pools and exhausted from playing all day!! I also loved that after her first day they gave me a "Pawgress Report" updating me on her first day at daycare! Outstanding place! There is a new owner (an RN!) who really cares about his 4-legged customers. He apparently cares about their owners as well (prices). We've been taking our 3 dogs there for over 8 years and haven't ever had any problems. We have always been happy. However, it is an ever nicer experience since the new ownership because the place has been majorly spruced up. Cindy, the lead groomer, is the best in the Front Range. We have tried other places when she is not available, and have never been as pleased. She doesn't "nick" them and she knows how to put the dogs at ease. She also works with you about scheduling. The Barking Lot also boards, and has great facilities. They also have day camp, and the prices are lower than these "branded" facilities. Even if you are happy where you go now, try The Barking Lot.
