As someone who was born and raised in Somerville, I can say without a doubt that this place is an embarrassment and run by absolute clowns. They have no host at the front desk, which would be fine if every single barber in there didn't have an attitude as big as their gut. Before I even sat down for a haircut I was already given attitude by some douche working there who acted incredibly annoyed when he asked me if I had an appointment. I told him I did, and who I was there to see, and during that whole process he seemed annoyed that I was even there. This was the first red flag. The second red flag is after telling my barber that I wanted a low/mid skin fade (probably one of the most common haircuts for men in their 20-30's to get) he told me he "only does high fades" okay bozo - then why do you let people book different styles of haircuts through the app, which include all different types of fades? The haircut came out like absolute shit, which is no surprise given that my barber was ripping a cannabis vape for the entire duration of my haircut, during said haircut he spent the entire time talking about his history of drug use and all of his "past" issues with the law.....wtf? He almost seemed proud to be a complete loser. On top of ALL of this nonsense, this place charges more for a haircut than half of the "high end" barbershops in downtown Boston. Absolute joke. Anyone dumb enough to return here a second time almost deserves to be ripped off. This place is absolute garbage and I hope they go out of business soon. read more

I have been looking for a new barbershop in my area and have tried a few, but until yesterday I hadn't found one to become a regular. This shop has been open for about 7 months but I stumbled across it when the Assembly Row orange line stop was closed and I walked to Sullivan to catch a ride into Boston. It's nestled in a nook on the "Fit Row" near the T stop entrance and it is awesome. You can make appointments right on the website and (for now) it's pretty wide open. Currently, they have three barbers: (Owner) Pat Owens (who wasn't in when I was there), Domenic Screnci, and James Grieves. I went with first available and got James who gave me one of the best haircuts I've had in a long time. Both he and Domenic were super friendly and cool to chat with and these guys have the skills. The shop is small but super clean and exactly what a barbershop should be. The haircuts are on the pricey side (services range from $18 for a beard trim ($33 for a cut) to $60 for a cut and shave), but I feel it's well worth the money when you go in knowing you're getting what you want and it will be done well. The straight razor on the neck and hair line is solid as well. If you're looking for a new place to make your go to barber, you really need to give these guys a shot. read more

IM A BARBER. I've been cutting hair going on 4 years now but I drove an hour and booked my appointment with Sahdaat and he gave me exactly what I wanted. It's frustrating when you get a barber that doesn't listen to your request, but Sahdaat listened and gave me a professional full service haircut. He was also really funny and easy to talk to. Wasted my time; did not cut my hair. I showed up the day before a trip to see a pair of barbers cutting a pair of heads of hairs. They saw me; neither bothered to say a word to me, let alone to man the front desk which was completely empty. I pointed at the couch, and they nodded. I sat, and watched them gab and cut hair glacially slowly. At one point, both barbers stopped cutting to talk with a third employee, who from what I could gather stopped by off-shift after dinner. Despite having time to chat with one another, neither made time for me. Twenty minutes in, I was growing impatient watching them dither with trimmers and edgers, so I walked up and asked them how long it would be. The answer? "Wait, you're a *walk-in?* Sorry, I assumed you were my next appointment. We're totally booked today, appointment only." Did they appear to be cutting decent hair? Sure. Were they cutting well enough to justify charging three times the price of a Supercuts? Could be. But will I trust people who disrespect my time to respect my hair? Will I trust people incompetent in basic customer service to be competent at basic barbering? Not a chance. read more

I've been going here every 5 weeks ever since I moved down to the city. I can't believe I ever went to great clips or Super cuts prior to coming here. I've had a haircut (and/or beard trim) from all the staff Pat, Brandon and Dom and they all know what they are doing and do their job incredibly well. If you need a fresh cut and line up expect that these barbers will take their time so don't rush them, because you will walk out looking fresher than you did walking in. When reviewing a new location, it's so important to give a location at least a couple of tries in order to receive an accurate picture of the location, workers, and services. I can't tell you how uncomfortable I was receiving my services here. The 2 star resembles the furnishing and the aesthetic of the location. It's beautiful! However, the individual's who occupy this location could benefit from more supervision. My last haircut was ok, I don't want to single him out. He was late in starting our appointment by 15 minutes talking to the other barber right in front of me (I have stuff to do! We all do!) The other barber was LOUD, outwardly SHOUTING or SINGING inappropriately to vulgar rap music. Sometimes both my barber and this other LOUD barber would go to the window next to the Assembly T-stop to check out and comment on women (sexually). I gotta say, I have never been to a place where they told you they can't cut your hair. I would assume that a barber can adjust and cut any types of fade but this was really disappointing. Considering that they charge on the higher end you would think they can cut any type of hair style. I asked for a square fade and they said they couldn't do it. read more

Have been looking for a good haircut place for a while. My search has finally come to an end. The owner, Pat , was the one who cut my hair and did a GREAT job. Great small talk , not too much nor to little. The store itself is very clean and organized. The price is a little more expensive than other places, but totally worth it. I would rather a thousand times have a more expensive cut on something that I like rather than a cheap cut that I don't like. Never going back to those cheap "supercuts" places.
