All the guys here give a great cut/fade. All down to earth and easy to talk to. Very laid back atmosphere

We have come here about 4 times. Our hairdresser is Strauti. He is very gentle with kids. The hair cuts were always good. We are happy with this place. Don't forget it's cash only if you come here the first time. Sometimes the TV programs are inappropriate for kids. One time people working here noticed and changed the channel, other times they don't pay attention to it. read more

This place is okay on the whole. They are open pretty good hours for a barber shop, so that's quite decent (8:30 AM to 6:00 PM if I remember correctly!). The guys here are also efficient, so that's good. The biggest problem is the price- 18 dollars per cut. Ann-Marie's in Somerville is only 10 dollars, and the quality is about the same, so I don't really see how this place is worth the extra 80% price difference. read more

Very reasonably priced and I get the best haircut every time. Had to get my haircut elsewhere a few times, but always go back to them since no one else can cut my hair right. With a double crown, wavy hair and several caulics, it takes an exceptional barber to get it right every time. They come highly recommended. read more

I just moved to the Boston area from Wisconsin and a few days ago found myself in desperate need of a trim. I went to Ultimate on Monday at 11am and they were closed despite the fact that the hours listed in their window say they should be open like 10a-4p on Monday. I see businesses around Boston do this all the time so I guess it's just a Boston thing. Whatever. I decided to go back Tuesday. Thankfully they were open. There was one guy cutting hair and I was the 3rd person in line waiting for a hair cut. I wanted to ask if someone didn't show up today, or if they usually only have one person working the place - I wasn't going to leave, I was slightly annoyed at the wait but I was mostly just curious for future reference - but naturally there is no way to ask that in a quiet barbershop without sounding like a prick, so I just kept quiet. I ended up waiting like 45 minutes for my turn. I don't know the dude's name but he was pretty much an asshole. He's an ugly, short guy with old school tattoos on his arms - which is cool. When it was my turn, I stood up waiting for his instructions. He kind of looked at me in a way that I could tell meant he thought I was 'kweeah' and grunted. Then disappeared for like 2-3 minutes - I assumed he was taking a piss. But anyway, when he returned and started cutting my hair it wasn't too awkward and he didn't try to force conversation, which I appreciate. He took his time and gave me a solid B haircut. He started making conversation towards the end of the cut and he seems like a genuinely nice guy. I probably won't go back just because the wait was ridiculous. But beyond that, it was a good experience - decent haircut, cheap price, little conversation, nice comfortable atmosphere. read more

Been A Client Here Since Day One...Only Barber More Capable Than Chad Was His Father Stan!!!

Great guys at this barber shop, shop was very clean and environment welcoming. Unfortunately my hair cut wasn't that great, and to top it off, I had razor bump in the back of my neck which I have never had all my life. I wash my hair pretty much daily and had washed it right after the cut so I know its not because I am dirty but after some google research seems as if this happens from barbers not cleaning their blades between cuts. I am African American btw so maybe they mostly do caucasians hair not that that's an excuse, but they did seem to have a good amount of clients so they must do something right. Would have loved to give them my business as their prices are great for the service, but have to go elsewhere because of quality unfortunately. read more

I get my hair cut here all the time and they are great!!! Chad is the owner and he is damn good and the other barber is possibly even better! very meticulous and the price is right!! Cheaper than SuperCuts and better by far!! This is a guy's barber shop, they have copies of Maxim to look at while you are waiting and TV's in front of the chairs so you don't have to make small talk which most guys can probably appreciate! Went to school in Somerville, still live in the Boston area after I graduated college - as a young guy from out of town I have to say that this is the ONLY barbershop for me. I usually get my cuts from Strati - the guy that wears the hat, and he's a master. Genuinely nice guys, not overly conversational but I think thats a good thing. They never rush you, always make sure they're giving you what you want. The only place I would ever recommend. read more

Went here all the way till 2008 when we moved back to CA. Chad is a great guy and its funny to hear another poster say he 'just grunts at you' lol. He's just low key and would rather be on his motorcycle...wouldn't you?. He gave me a free cut just a day before I got married and I'll never forget that. I needed a barber closer to home. I happened into this spot and got a great bald fade. I was pleasantly surprised when the barber mentioned my cowlick and that he'd work with it to get it to look right rather that shaving the hair too high like every other barber for the past 30 years. I've gone back 5 or 6 times and have been satisfied every time. read more

This place is great. I can bring my kids in, the owner is always more then welcoming! Being across from tufts and in Medford you get all walks of life and it's always comfortable as long as you out going just like the owner. Everything from friends to family to locals to students from across the country. Great place. read more
