The Sun's news section is how a newspaper is supposed to be: unbiased reporting of local, national and world news, with no attempts to change viewers' political beliefs (take note, Washington Post...). Unfortunately there's not enough of it, probably for financial reasons and having to keep a small staff to remain viable. Which is a shame, because if they had the resources of a larger paper, with their focus on neutral and unbiased reporting I think they would be one of the nation's top newspapers. The rest of the paper is equally thin but great at what they do have. The subscription is worth it alone just for the Friday Weekend section that lists all kinds of activities going on around Baltimore, that I don't know where you can find anywhere else. read more

I wrote a letter to cancel. I would have kept the account but the subscription is too expensive. Then they sent a "wait a minute" email letting me know I could subscribe at a cheaper rate. I never answered the letter as I am not interested in renewing. I called and asked them to cancel my account and they still tried to talk me into renewing despite me telling the agent to please cancel this account. I checked my account and my crediit card was in their system, held hostage for a future subscription. She stated she cancelled it . I had to ask for a cancellation number as proof though I do not know if this number is legit... I had to call my card company and block them from adding anymore charges or having access to my card...period. I recommend that everyone BLOCK the Baltimore Sun from their credit card. read more

Unable to cancel my subscription after months of trying. Customer service doesn't respond when you call, and email responses have been unhelpful. They say they can't find my account, but when I log onto the site it says I have an active subscription. It's not clear how often I'm still being billed - digging through my credit card records I haven't seen anything recent, but the ambiguity is stressful and cancelling should not be this difficult. This behavior is criminal. Based on other reviews, apparently I'm not the only one. read more

I am writing this review on behalf of my 90 year old mother whose husband recently passed at 96 after a long battle with dementia. In reviewing my parents' finances, I became aware that the Baltimore Sun has been criminally over-charging them for paper subscription services, likely for many years. Since November 2024, the Sun has been charging my parents $250 per month for subscription services, an increase from the already outrageous price of $170 per month for the prior year(s)!! Thats $9 per day!!!! Meanwhile, the intro price is $6.99 per week. This type of behavior, especially against elderly people managing chronic health conditions, is predatory, criminal and shameful. They subscribed for 60 + years. I am all for local print media these days, but if this is your business model, you don't deserve to be in business. Shame shame shame on you Sun Paper. Shame. Honestly, It makes me feel ashamed to be from Maryland. Luckily, I got to complain to a call center 1/2 way around the world. so thats nice It is unfortunate that yelp does not allow 0 stars. read more

I've skim read some of the existing reviews and they're all100 % accurate. Under the new management they continually keep jacking up rates. Why they've embraced Fox 45 I do not understand and find VERY offensive. Now the FINAL straw is that their MOST ILLUSTRIOUS journalist has abandoned ship. No offense intended to all the other current editors on staff. Any bets on how soon the Sunpaper collapses and departs ?????? read more

After they have called and harassed me about a payment of newspapers that I have not received I have advised them that I'm not using it and I want to cancel this has been going on for 4 months so I called the phone number and after being hung up on one time I called back and Mary refused to give me a mailing address so I can send them a legal document but they will not stop me they are coming after me for money I do not owe and they've been trying to get in my account at least four times a week read more

Was fine, apart from some missed deliveries and a subpar app, until we cancelled our subscription and then were taken to collections over $11 without any prior notice ($11 that we happily would have paid had we known a balance was somehow due from our automatic payments), despite the mailing erroneously stating that we were previously notified. its unfortunate what the Sun has become after being a Baltimore staple for so many years. read more

They did a promotion in the supermarket where they ask for your credit card and they supposedly were giving a free food gift card. They stated it was for weekend deliveries and you could cancel anytime. I called to cancel before payment and paper delivery was made, they use people overseas to answer calls , and the person acts like they don't understand what your saying. They have taken money off my credit and never provided any service to me. A true Rip off. I am cancelling that credit because of their theivry for such a small amount of money. But, it adds up if your doing this to thousands of people. I was forced to give 1 star, they don't deserve it. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. They charge your credit card and won't stop when you ask them to. I spent two months trying to stop them and get my refund. I even have my canceled subscription receipt and they continue to ignore. Don't give this place your card. We have to go to the bank and cancel our card. I bet they send a bill to our house afterward for overdue when we get no papers. read more

Like others, I wanted to support a local newspaper that does a good job of reporting. Unfortunately the billing has overcharged me and impossible to rectify by calling several times. Cancelling and notifying my VISA card to decline payment and not accept any future charges, only because the company was unable to resolve this issue directly with me. read more

The newspaper is nothing but reprints of AP and NY Times articles for the most part Little diversity in its reporting I don't know how it will survive read more

The Baltimore Sun is more scam than news outlet. In order to read the end of the article, they entice readers with a deal: $1 for 26 weeks! Regret sets in as soon as you click the button. The article provides little to no additional information and you are left searching for a real news source to get the full story. This disappointment and distraction allows you to forget that $1 charge (just as they'd hoped). Months later, upon reviewing your credit card charges, you notice $21.21 charged from Baltimore Sun Subscription, and it's only then that you realize this has been going on for months. When you dig for an account, it seems they have no record of your phone number, address, or account to log into. When you call, they inform you of their "no refund policy," and appear surprised when you push for the subscription to be canceled. Make sure you ask for a confirmation number as it seems they can just "have no record of your calling" and refuse a refund of subsequent charges, because as they'll remind you, they have a no refund policy. read more

Worst customer service! Have not received the paper in over 1 month, have called at least 10 times. Customer service reps can hardly speak English. Nothing gets resolved. Finally got through to a supervisor, if no paper next Saturday will cancel. read more

Was only getting paper three days a week. They were attempting to charge me $120 per three months for this. That might be the definition of insanity, even during these inflationary times. Canceled the paper immediately. Nice to have a lighter recycling bin each week and more money in my wallet. read more

Horrible customer service - they say the same thing over and over without resolving the issue at hand. Tried to get them to stop delivering b/c I did not subscribe and former resident has moved out of state, they don't listen. Customer service agent (same person) confirmed with me that they will immediately communicate to delivery couriers to stop deliveries multiple times in past months - they are just empty words. News paper still comes every freaking week. Nothing has been resolved - they do not do customer service & they do not communicate with delivery couriers. They do not care at all. Hate it so much, they are wasting so much paper!! I absolutely do NOT recommend The Baltimore Sun services. read more

I took advantage of a subscription special posted by BS on 4/1/22. I paid $10.00 for 1 year subscription. I have been charged over $ 16.00/ month for over 5 months. I have tried to inquire several times. The rep has hung up every time that I called. In addition, the delivery person NEVER puts the paper in the paper box. When it rains the paper is soaked and unreadable. Impossible to to do business with . read more

I recently signed up for a short-term subscription for the paper. The gentleman who was offering a promotion for the subscription advised that the Baltimore Sun is trying to keep the paper in business. Delivery did not start right away, so had to call customer service to find out what the issue was. Customer Service is contracted out to a foreign source in another country. Each time I spoke with one of the representatives, the interaction was rude, and lacked diversity, empathy and courtesy. Once I discovered that a once local newspaper was too cheap to hire local citizens to represent the newspaper with service issues, I decided to cancel my subscription. I tried several times to cancel the subscription, but I was never successful in doing so. So I expected the traditional daily paper, and instead only received it twice a week with the weekend issue. Times have changed. The newspapers were thin and lacked many of the features from years gone by, much to my disappointment. And to add salt to the wound, the push was to read the content online on the internet. Never again will I subscribe to this service. I would not recommend anyone subscribing to this newspaper. Sloppy expense cutting = Loss of sales. read more

Screw this company. They use bait and switch tactics to get money from potential subscribers. I agreed to a 3 month promo with a monthly option after. They billed me $50.16! You cannot resolve this online, must call their customer service (can only cancel via phone as well). They said they'd cancel my service and give me a refund, I asked to receive a confirmation email with the refund and cancellation and they said they would send it. I didn't believe them so I tried to stay on the phone till it hit my inbox. Lo and behold, no email.... I've reported the charge to my banks fraud department read more

This is the WORST company!! Customer service is horrible. Phone selection is a joke. IF you are ABLE to speak with someone, they WILL not speak credible English! If you call with a complaint, you will be hung up on. Spent 45 minutes today to cancel subscription. I was hung up on 4 TIMES!!! The first man spoke broken English, I had to keep asking him to repeat himself. I asked for his name, he didn't give it. Told him we didn't get Wednesday paper, or Saturday's or Sunday's. All I got was Uh huh. Told him we were promised a paper by that afternoon (each day!) NEVER GOT ONE, MUCH LESS THREE. When you call about paper problems, they say they'll extend your subscription for another day. Asked why can't I have that amount deducted, nope, can't do it, and which point you'll be disconnected!! Called the second time, a woman answered, broken English also, then click, hung up on AGAIN. 3rd time, called again, spoke to a woman, who also spoke broken English. Asked for a supervisor, have no idea what she responded, told her I didn't understand her, could I just speak to a supervisor. She told me, "I help." Sigh... Asked her if she could tell me the name of the first man I spoke to, she said there was no way to do that, they don't have that record. In the next breath, she said, okay, you are...., your phone number is.......,your address is...., how can I help you? I said to her you have ALL the information from my first call, but there is no record of WHOM I spoke too? Uh, huh! So, had to repeat everything again, and then she said to hold on. Finally, about 6 minutes had gone by and a supervision by the name of Amy answered. She could not be understood that well either! Went through the whole spiel again, and at the end, she said the account had been cancelled! I asked if we were going to be reimbursed for the missed papers. Have no clue what her answer was. If you expect to get any satisfaction, you are wasting your time. When they don't understand you, or if you ask them to repeat what they say, you will hear a dial tone. They have quite a racket going with "extending" your subscription when your paper is wet, undelivered, etc. We have had a subscription to the Sun and to The Aegis for over 30 years! Jeez, I wish the News American was still in operation!! The Baltimore Sun is beyond horrible. Don't waste your money, we are now picking it up at our local Royal Farm Store!! I wish there was a negative amount of stars I could select, because having to give it even ONE star is one too many! read more

This paper is awful. I have been trying to cancel a subscription that the owner of my house previously set up and it's been IMPOSSIBLE! I have called SEVEN WEEKS in a row and they STILL can not communicate to the delivery person that I am no longer on the list. No one on the customer service lines is any help. No one ever follows up on this and each week I am more and more disappointed in the poor customer service. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS PAPER! read more

used to be able to get general information from the Baltimore sun. Now the Baltimore sun is solely used for Clickbait for advertisement, you can't read, not one Baltimore sun article anymore without being proposed for an advertisement and you cannot read the article unless you give them your information. Surprised they're still in business, is anybody actually reading the newspaper anymore because the articles online aren't able to be accessed unless they can sell your information . I guess a failing business has to do what it has to do to keep its head above water, but just a heads up people stop supporting this bullshit let them go out of business. read more

Don't do it. They start charging $30/mo for digital news without notice. Can't cancel online or through their app. Not to mention articles are riddled with poor writing and spelling errors. read more

The Baltimore Sun is a horrible company to do business with. The news and sports sections are relatively brief and superficial in their reporting. But my main concern is the lack of customer service. They are completely unresponsive to subscribers. When a subscriber calls, it is difficult to wade through the layers of the automated system. When a real person answers, they provide responses that are obviously scripted. When you ask to speak to someone else, they refer you to the main phone number which brings you back to thyye automated system. The newspaper is equally non-responsive to online requests. I have cancelled my subscription despite my commitment to supporting local news outlets read more

I may be a little partial to the sun but definitely enjoy the Papers presence online and off. Boasting a host of sections including the midnight sun about nightlife in Baltimore, the stories are relevant, timely and informative. I absolutely adore the building and look forward to what they'll do with it in the future!! read more

I am having issues getting the paper delivered. Keep getting the same story/excuse when I call. Sometimes I am told the paper will be delivered later that day...that doesn't happen. Is anyone else having issues with delivery in the Forest Hill area? read more

This is as poor of a paper that I have ever read. All of the staff are contract reporters as print newspapers are dying. What is a shame is in a town the size of Baltimore, that use to have two major newspapers, what is left is not worth looking at. I am surprised it is still around. Top it off the Sun is about left as any paper I have ever read. They make no attempts to hide it either. I give them that but it is so far left that when you put it down in the middle of your coffee table it slides off the left side of the table to the floor. read more

not happy with the Baltimore Sun tried last week to get a refund and cancel my subscription I was told I could not get a refund !!

I, like others, miss the spontaneity of buying a newspaper, and having a newspaper in my hands. There was nothing like scanning the paper in the morning and then coming home from work and leisurely reading the articles in the evening. I checked into getting a subscription, but it would have to be through the mail and the news would be a week late. So, I get the news daily, on time from the Sun in my email. Of, course it is an abridged edition, but that's better than nothing. Its always nice to get the latest medical news coming out of Johns Hopkins. The editorials are usually equaled out by a counter editorial, Still, I miss the days of Jack Germond, when journalists were not universal, and were particular to their region, in the exposition of their opinions. A great paper, and always fun to see their past and present photo montages. read more

My wife and I subscribed (or, should I say, tried to subscribe) to the Sun and one of its local community newspapers. However, we never got a single newspaper delivery despite repeated calls to customer service. Finally, after a month we asked for and received a full refund -- the one thing that went right. read more

An old building, home to Baltimore's finest newspaper. With this type of readership declining, the quality of the Sun's journalism has decreased over the years. It is sad what has become of newspapers. Everything is online now. I miss holding the newspaper while eating breakfast. Those days are coming to an end soon, I believe. read more

They have to have one of the most useless customer service departments I've ever had to deal with. I have just ended my 3rd subscription period. The carriers I had were terrible. Insisted on leaving paper in a puddle even though there is a clear sidewalk space 5 feet away (still in front of our house). We complained numerous times & it was never corrected. We seem to have been given a new carrier a few months ago who did seem like they had some sense, but we have had multiple instances of missed papers, and when you call they do not offer a refund- only an extension of your current contract. All well & good but almost impossible to figure out whether or not we ever were rightly compensated. Just this week I called about missed papers & was told my credit card payment did not go thru in November so they cancelled my agreement. Without notice. There were also 3 different amounts due given: 1 on a physical bill, one in an email, and another in my account section of their website. I have records of at least 3 times I spoke to someone in their customer svc. dept. & was given a confirmation # for payment. None of these times did it get charged to my card number and who knows who got billed for that.Terrible service, terrible billing, terrible record-keeping. We are done with this crappy paper. Good riddance. read more

Horrible home delivery service. Constantly have to call to get the paper delivered. May be cancelling if not improved after six calls.

Based on my 5 second glimpse I got of the Sun's building off 95 south, this place looks exactly like I thought it would given my recent viewing of Season 5 of the wire. I actually got goose bumps! read more

The Baltimore Sun Newspaper customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with or tried to deal with. Outsourcing the customer service connection is not a good idea. I tried changing my subscription to a cheaper weekend only package and I called the customer service 3 times in a row speaking with different people from across the globe. I have no idea if they understood what they were doing or what I wanted to do. So annoying and unprofessional way to do business. Frustrating to say the least. read more
