Hannah worked with me for months on the details of the tour and did not disappoint when the day finally arrived for about 15 of us to tour the station. The digital sign in the lobby even had a welcome message with our chapter name and number on it. So welcoming! Hannah showed us everything from the control booths to the special lighting and robotic cameras, to the telethon stage/phones, to the new special events/concert stage area. We learned the history of MPT, how it's broadcast throughout the state of Maryland, what shows are locally produced, and about some special events and ways to support public broadcasting. the night is my friend. i know it well, but at times it is my nemesis. i have driven so much on…read morethis big road that it feels like an old girlfriend that you are too lazy to dump. it's been a long day. what was it? 18 hours? something like that. the red and white car lights dance like fireflies. the somnolent enchantress does her dance. i snap my head back from the nod. i roll down the window even if it is winter. the dance continues. should i pull over at the rest stop? nothing seems to be working. then a song plays on the radio. a song that has not been heard in years. Dumb Things. that old Paul Kelly and the Messengers song. the synapses fire. the fingers tap. the volume increases. then My Morning Jacket comes over the airwaves. the road continues but it is no longer dark. New Pornographers play. some old Frank Zappa. Bright Eyes. Robert Plant & Allison Krauss. Sly and the Family Stone. the Nighthawks. the Arctic Monkeys. it's only when the static sets in that i realize that i have made it home. i pull up in front of my house and turn off the ignition. WTMD probably saved my life tonight. thank goodness there wasn't a Towson basketball game that night. i might still be on I-95.

WTMD is the great alternative radio station in town. They're likely to play anything they want at…read moreany given moment. I find it a little unfortunate that means they play a LOT of standards from the 70s and 80s, but they do go right back to modern/eclectic selections. They really shine when they play blocks of music based on themes. Weasel's Wild Weekend is a great showcase for interesting music that you don't always hear, and they do blues shows and other off the beaten path segments. They do a lot of community concerts and events, including Baltimore-themed contests through phone apps (which usually only work with the most up to date OSs.) This is truly a home town station for music lovers.

Please write about the most experienced, professional, personable and CARING orthopedic Surgeon…read morethat I have ever known in the last 50 years when I have had 17 major orthopedic surgeries from 10 different providers. I met Dr. Joseph Serino in 2025 after I had experienced the second failure of my left artificial knee. I went to two other Surgeons prior to learning about Dr. Serino on the internet. The first two Surgeons declined to tell me what was wrong with my knee and declined to treat me stating that I was too "High Risk" for a third total knee replacement and a history of past surgical infections. I learned about Dr. Serino on the internet. The information that I found indicated that he specialized in very difficult knee, hip and bone fracture surgical cases as well as "routine cases". Dr. Serino saw me and within five minutes looked at the x-rays and told me that the knee implant was loose and damaging the shin bone. So I needed a third Total Knee Replacement. He went on to say that he could and would repair this problem for me. The Doctor described the procedure in detail, went over all the risks and articulated a mitigation strategy for each risk factor. Dr. Serino replaced my knee in 12/25 and the surgery was totally successful with no complications. The recovery was smooth and quicker then I had ever experienced in previous surgeries. The Doctor operated on me again in 02/26 for an unrelated tendon tear that I did in the gym. Again, a flawless surgery with no complications. Why do I think that you should write about Dr. Serino? The most professional, technically "cutting edge", personable and a superb patient communicator. The best I have met in 50 years with 17 orthopedic surgeries. * Extremely responsive. Responds to messages and phone calls within a couple of hours at most. * The most extensive, risk mitigated pre-op procedure that I have ever experienced. * On his own, he called me three times after each surgery to check on me. * Very punctual, I have never waited to see him in his office more than 20 minutes. Afforded me all the time that I needed at each appointment. * Dr. Serino is new to the DMV area and already is amassing a significant patient base. He sees patients in Columbia, Fulton, Catonsville and Eldersburg. He operates at Saint Agnes Hospital as they have the most up to date and modern joint replacement programs and a very effective infection prevention protocol. * Bottom line: Dr. Joseph Serino genuinely CARES about his patients. You can tell that in every word and action that he takes. I will tell you for certain that He is extraordinary in every sense and much much different (positively) than any other Doctor I have ever known. I truly believe that there are many people in our area who have difficult orthopedic cases that Dr. Serino could help.
