In the past two years my wife has needed to go into a Rehab enter. The first time was two years ago…read moreafter she had back Surgery. They put her in a facility near where we lived. The facility was nice and seemed to be well equipped but seriously understaffed. It often took a half hour to an hour for an aid or nurse to respond to her call requests. Facility okay, staffing an issue. This time she after having fallen many times in our unit she was hospitalized, They decided to send her to a Rehab Center in Anne Arundel County. This place, though highly rated by Medicare was awful. It was a rather dingy facility in which you were immediately overwhelmed by the smell of urine and feces! It also took an hour or longer for anyone to respond to her calls, often she was told just to "go in your diaper" until we have time for you! The PT/OT facilities were bare-boned and she received barely more than 20 minutes of one or the other during weekdays. And on one of those days they had a group session instead of individual treatment where none of her Rehab needs were addressed! This place was so awful I found myself crying to myself, feeling guilty that she had to stay in this disgusting facility! I fought for and finally received the OK to transfer her to Lorien, Elkridge! I can only describe it as like going from the worst Motel 6 in the world to the Carlton-Ritz! Lorien Elkridge in a very welcoming, clean, well-equipped facility. And the staff, including the those working the front desk, are very welcoming, responsive, kind and caring!! She rarely waits more than 5 to10 minutes when she request assistance. They seem to be eager to get whatever she needs and often do the same for me. The nurse in charge, is on the ball and is willing to put up with my inquires of her medical treatment and requests from me to obtain specific treatments and/or mess (I will admit that my career with the FDA as an expert in both Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals does give me an unique knowledge base.) She gets OT and PT every weekday, often for as long as an hour each! I can't rave enough about this facility and its staff. If you live near Elkridge you definitely would want to send your loved one her if they need rehab. Heck, even if you don't live near here, I would still recommend you check this facility out.

Dv hotline tells abused women" there IS…read morehelp,call now" but the only help they give is 2 to 8 weeks of rest in shelter then they put you out with no where to go except they'll give you a tent or referral to local homeless shelter. I don't think anyone finds that helpful. There really isn't any help unless becoming homeless like we did almost a year ago is what you consider to be help.i watched 6 other families from there also be put out to homeless shelter its apparently the routine thing they do for poor abused women. The wealthy ones may find that short stay helpful bc gives them chance to find apartment but if you're broke they put you out to homeless shelter.i even got a job but had to quit bc I got off 2 hours after school bus dropped daughter off and wouldn't allow her to stay there while I worked and she's of legal age in md to be left alone,was11, now,12.weve been homeless since we went there in Nov before Thanksgiving 2025. I've reached out many times to update but still no help. Stop lying to women having g them escape only to become homeless. That's not help.were so depressed and lost and feel alone with no help and no end in sight of becoming homed again.it was a mistake to go there or to believe there was actually any help available. I do t kno what they're doing with donations or got funding except fat pay checks and the small cost to house victims for the short time. Then njackman,director had nerve to scold me for telling community members that they put women out with no where to go except to be homeless.she didnt want the truth to be known,said I was talking nasty about springboard and I said I'm o ly speaking the truth about my life,which I'm free to do and if she thinks its nasty that's on her bc that's exactly the truth,I can and will speak of it.it may save another famy from becoming chronically homeless for a year or more bc they believed a dv shelter was there to help. Help me and finding permanent housing and perhaps putting a baby sitter on site so one can work to get on feet. This has been the worst experience of my life and the emotional abuse from dv didnt stop yet either. So they help with nothing.its esthetically pleading,a beautiful place but they do t help women. If you choose to help a vulnerable population and take donations and got funds for it than you have a responsibility to actually give the help. Women need to work so there's needs to be childcare, and they need a permanent place to live not a homeless shelter.leadt of all the hsp shelter that puts a correctional focus on the homeless families.you kno like prison.thats what correctional institutions are for,criminals not for abused people.hsp shelter leaves families to languish in the shelter system and doesn't transition them into permanent homes either and they don't treat residents with dignity .they make clear everyday that you are a worthless homeless person,and should be grateful you have any shelter bc it could be the street or back to your abuser.i saw some women return to their abuser after leaving springboard bc the homeless shelter was unbearable. It's sad people give money to these organizations who keep for bonuses and paychecks bc they certainly aren't using it to help women get or stay emotes or to get permanent housing. You don't leave abuse to dv shelter to become homeless.you can do that without dv shelters help. It's a crying shame the false helping organizations out there for there own greed and trying dankest to hide from the truth from the public. God only knows if or when.well get housed or if I'll committ suicide first. I hope find a home soon, I don't know how much longer I can last like this.very disappointing. Ida been better off with the abuse I knew and understood how to navigate than this torchure. Kudos to the employees who had the integrity to quit once they realized women were were being put out i. It's so wrong.dont go there unless you already have a great job and a car to be able to use as a stepping stone. They'll likely turn you away from the start if have little or no income. To abusers keep up your good work of keeping money from the abused.that stops victims from getting help in Carroll county. It's a racket for huge paychecks to director and upper management with no accountability or obligation to actually all abused women who come there.See their lies on website stating they help the unsupported and traumatized.and stating housing support.i didnt get any help at all except to be homeless going g on a year already and as I stated before I watched multiple families turned out to homelessness after going to springboard for help.and told by therapists that she saw them give a tent to a client to live on streets.so you decide,is that help? Maryland Food Bank thrives off of weekend volunteer hours for packers in their conveyor belt area to box canned goods and boxed foods as they'd otherwise have to bill these hours to payroll. I enjoyed myself and even got in a little cardio as the belt moved more and more foodstuffs through. I was in charge of canned veggies and boy were there lots of them. It was a good time and I can't wait to go back!
