I take note (well I "took note" is the proper English, sounds aggressive like, should that feel…read moreproper to use that English?) staff rarely eats the same food. Maybe because the location is *SMACK* between a jail and a strip club literally, must be funny to many, check Google Maps. Do not expect "Employment Center" to mean a job, welfare, or money, but there are free (and often religious) lectures. Staff does not eat with you during interview (my counselor actually literally laughed at the idea when I remembered other countries' support shelters, and said something to the effect of "We're not allowed to do that [eat with you for free]"). Staff *DOES* (*Warning* You will be proselytized multiple times at once, thank G-d for separation of Church and State in our great American idea of life caring and supportive government) evangelize religion in code. Staff speaks English and A.A.V.E. and Broken English and other languages, some staff (diverse, White, Black, Yellow, Cyan, Red, Green, Blue people too) even points instead of talking. If you can handle being given religious booklets, wait by the shelter or along Fallsway Rd and other religious people will give you food and abbreviatorily-predatory bibles looking like Bibles but mostly blasting adverts.

This is a food bank…read more Why give? Because they're working hard to get food into hungry people's hands. This is a mission. They have to break even, but this is a mission of theirs. It's worth supporting. 1. You may make a food donation, if you have something in quantity that is of good quality that you're ready to donate. 2. The second way to help is to give your time. They need help making up boxes (about 30 lbs per box of fresh food) that are distributed to needy persons up and down the east coast of the US and out into the middle of the country. 3. Give em some cash. They have to pay for all their utilities and their building and they have paid staff as well as volunteers. This food bank makes up food boxes that get distributed not just all over Lancaster County, but all over the eastern half of the country. They really help a LOT of people. You can make a difference helping them help others. Lancaster County is a special place. Blessings of Hope is part of what makes it special.

I just wanted to say for anybody interested, almost everything we brought home was outdated. My daughter got sick on something and we're not even sure what. If you decide to shop here, PLEASE check the dates on your items. Most of the things are over a year outdated. I don't know how they get away with that legally. I won't shop here again.

Alert!!! under new management and went from exceptional to trash overnight! The new management…read moredoesn't care and doesn't have a clue how to run a food pantry. They are only concerned with getting financial donations! The food I got under new management was poor quality basically someone's trash. Expired food, moldy stale bread, un marked tin cans, and repackaged raw meat with no labels. one client showed me a rodent had chewed on the corner of a food box - she said be careful to me. Oh even more disgusting is The leadership was rude and condescending to many other clients, treated a handful like they were trash! It disgusted me to witness . The former director Paul truly cared! Now it's just a nasty place! Wow they don't run things orderly anymore. It was chaos in line. The new director clueless Mikey and the other leadership team were standing around - the director was talking down to while ordering a very elderly volunteer around! Yikes - you could see the stress and anger flowing from Mikey. I believe that old guy quit that night. Hostile Hostile Hostile - So much so I couldn't stay a second day in such a hostile place. One of the volunteers, an older crass woman, was making racist remarks as some of the clients of color were exiting. It was soo sickening it hurt deeply I just left. I didn't want to be anywhere around that place. I'm in need and I left hungry. I will never go back to that location. I hear the church is suing Paul personally for $50,000.00 plus and all for their own chaos - it's clear to me who is causing problem! It is soo sickening to hear of the church's unthinkable actions against Paul!!! It is well known he has volunteered there for at least 25yrs - that action against him alone shows they only care about money. All the rest I've commented on only reinforced that thought in my mind. I bet they are drinking the food banks cash flow dry Their own little or not so little piggy bank. Any way you slice it - it smells!
