The Baking Grounds has been a part of my family for over a decade. They were the little house across from arbor clos and then became the pink bakery. I worked there when I was 14 and could only work a few hours a week! I grew up and moved away and had children. My son's first birthday was coming up and we were going to celebrate back home so I knew immediately I needed to call the bakery. I ordered a cake over the phone which I knew was a risk and sent images of what I wanted. The cake turned out absolutely fantastic and tasted even better. However, there were 2 finger prints directly in front of the design and the top was not smooth. It was a tiered cake and you could see the center piece that held up the pieces. We've lived in Buford for and never stopped in here. Yesterday, we thought we'd give it a try, and go for breakfast. Outside is fairly simple and not all that inviting. Inside is decorated better than you may find anywhere. So cute, and filled with interesting decorations and sweets on display. Unfortunately, that's what earned it three stars. We ordered breakfast form their very limited menu. We were informed that they were out of pancakes and cinnamon French toast. Wait; isn't this a bakery? Aren't those relatively simple items? We stayed and ordered anyway. The breakfast was just ok. Nothing to stand out, or make us return. We thought, perhaps we aren't giving it a fair shake, and bought some of their baked goods to take home. Last night we tried the danish, scones, and eclair. The eclair wasn't bad, but needed more chocolate. The scone and danish were solid sugar. That's the only flavor we were able to discern. We asked about the decorations when we were there. We were told the owner decorated the inside herself, but they had 5-10 people who decorated cakes and other items. We were disappointed in the breakfast, as well as the baked goods we chose. The best aspect of this place was the cute decor inside. I'm a fan of giving some places a second chance, and my wife and I agreed we will try their pastries another time. We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning, it was busy, but we still found a table right away. It is a darling bakery/cafe, with adorable decor and superb service. My husband ordered pancakes and said they were out of this world, the best he'd ever had. So I had a bite, and they took me right back to my childhood. They tasted just like the pancakes my mother made. We shared biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy was excellent! The biscuits were very good! I had cheesy eggs and bacon with a blueberry danish. The danish was wonderful. Before we left we got a dozen delicious looking cookies, and whined about how we wanted to take cake with us too, but didn't think it would do well in the car for the day (it's going to be 92 degrees today.) We also picked up one of their handmade mugs. Which are super cute! All in all this place was wonderful, we will definitely be back! read more

Received a delivery for my birthday yesterday from here! I just moved into the area so I haven't been to too many places yet. I'm not sure exactly what I received but I think it's a slice of vanilla cake, a chocolate cupcake and a tiramisu. For the first two items the cake part was very good but the icing was a bit heavy so I just used very little of it. The tiramisu however was amazingggg! Cute little café in Buford, we went there on a Sunday for breakfast, arrived there around 10am. 1- Place was really cute with tables on both side of the store You just sit wherever you want and the server will bring you the menu 2- Food : very affordable I wanted to go 1st to la madeleine by the mall and I remembered I wanted to try baking ground for quite some time. it is close to where I take my kids for karate and piano. Ordered a baby shower cake from Baking Grounds Bakery and was very pleased. A friend of mine recommended them when I was looking for good bakeries. The Baking Grounds Bakery Team was easy to work with and the cake was ready to go at the designated time. More importantly the flavor of the cake was AMAZING!! Seriously. We did a unicorn pumpkin cake. The cake was moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet. One of the gold color eye of the unicorn had a little bit of a blemish but the cake flavor and the rest of the cake design made up for it. They also had a spacious dining space inside the bakery which I will definitely have to come back to try some of their other food. I went there for lunch with a friend and I wanted to order a cake for an upcoming party. Because this was not a birthday party, I did not want a childlike theme but I wanted something simple and sweet that had a little bit of oomph. Not only did Dessa, my server, go out of her way to help me think of something (we did start off with a picture I shared of something they done in the past)she also drew it up for me so she could give it to the baker. For many people this might not seem like a big deal but for the modest price that I am paying you would have thought I had paid $800 for the type of service I have just received. Including the wonderful customer service, my soup and salad lunch hit the spot. My Reuben sandwich was delicious as well as my colorful side salad. The cookie that I received instead of chips was a perfect touch to the end of my lunch. It wasn't too sweet yet flavorful. What a nice little gem in Buford. I'm a sucker for sweets so this place is my kryptonite. After moving Sugar Hill 2 years ago, I avoided this place for as long as I could until I couldn't resist anymore. My brother was celebrating his 40th so we decided to stop by and pick up a dozen cupcakes. The parking lot is fairly small and as you walk up, you can see there is seating indoor and outdoor. Plenty of people there on a Saturday afternoon enjoying brunch/lunch. The variety of cupcakes to choose from was great. We picked up a little of everything including birthday cake, carrot, chocolate, etc. While waiting for them to pack up the cupcakes, I looked around to check out their various pastries and cookies. On the other hand, I happened to stop by here for breakfast. Pleasantly surprised, I walked into a lively, bright, 'country- style' café atmosphere. The displays of the pastries look good and there looked to be a lot of variety. Needless to say my sausage was ice cold and the coffee was almost not drinkable. The quality of my meal was less than any typical breakfast chain (Waffle House, IHOP). She made excellent recommendations and listened to everything I said I wanted. She made the whole process so easy! She even called a few days before the wedding just to confirm everything. They delivered the cake to my venue and set it up with no issues. She even accommodated the cake topper I had ordered off of Etsy. And most importantly, the cake was delicious!! We went with red velvet and a mix of buttercream and cream cheese icing (her recommendation) in order to achieve the design we wanted. It looked beautiful and tasted great! Disappointed with their safety measures. Some wait staff with no masks and most behind the counter with chin strap masks. Went in to buy a huge order and walked right out- 1000 other places to get sweets. Cute place. We went on a Sunday and I had the Turkey, Bacon and Avocado Club. It was pretty good. The rest of the family got breakfast and all said it was ok. My daughter thought an egg and cheese biscuit from McDonald's had it beat. Service wasn't very good. We were with another family. Two people in our party were missing the cookie that should have come with their meal and several of us were missing the pickle. After asking, we were told they were out of pickles. My sandwich had the Seven Grain bread and I loved it. Our friends that we dined with knew how much I liked it and were sweet enough to purchase a loaf for me to take home. They wanted one themselves but were told that mine was the last one. Our friend then asked to purchase a loaf of wheat and was shown a bag of Nature's Own and told that that is what is used for the wheat bread.
