I ordered a cake for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. They designed it just as I asked. They made Cattleya orchids for the top. This was the flower my mother had in her wedding bouquet. The vintage piping was beautifully done. My parents loved it. It was so good! I added the 60 and diamonds on the top for their 60th diamond anniversary.

I think the business was sold recently. The bakery is NOTHING compared to what it was. The petit fours look like made a cake and cut into pieces. They were dry and we threw them out

Be sure to stop by this gem of bakery in Buford, Georgia located just a few miles away from The Mall of Georgia. The place has been in business since 1958. While most people go there to get their cakes and cookies for special occasions, the breakfast and lunch offerings make this a worthwhile destination for anyone who is hungry. The prices are reasonable (about 11-13 for a plate). The portions are generous. (Other meals at my table took up several plates, I was looking for a smaller option). The food is excellent with professional touches that can make or break the experience. For example, the syrup was warm, the cinnamon roll was sliced for better syrup application before being battered, and can buy the mugs if you want one. The service is great. The cinnamon roll toast came with hash browns but I didn't want more starch on top of the rolls and syrup. The waitress rang me up a la carte so that the meal came out the same price but I skipped on the hash browns and got bacon instead. The place was quiet but busy with lot of groups of older men and a few mix gendered groups having breakfast at 8:30-9:30am on a Wednesday morning. Only one word of warning: this is a bakery, they don't stay open very late because they open early.

I get bakery things here all the time. EVERYTHING is always so delicious. And the inside atmosphere is soooooo cute and welcoming. The service is also very helpful and polite. The breakfast was on point! Simple, flavorful and not overwhelming or too filling. The bacon was Smokey and perfectly cooked.

Malinda is such an accommodating & understanding owner and baker who truly brought our vision to life (we wanted an elegant and minimal wedding cake). Her cakes are absolutely delicious with a wide variety of options at fair prices. I didn't want to leave the bakery because I was amazed at all the beautifully made cakes and other pastries, it was like flower shopping but better lol. I highly recommend her to all future brides!

No surpise, the service remains good here. Same people working every time we come in to visit. She had the breakfast bowl, and I had the sausage, egg, and hashbrowns. Both very tasty meals. Parking was plentiful, not very busy on a Thursday at 9:45AM. Discounts for seniors over 62. On our way out, we picked up some bakery items for later today. They look awesome. We will be back.

The food was so good I forgot about a picture of it. They make their bread in house so if you visiting I recommend the rosemary olive bread ( and I'm not an olive person, but it's very light on olives and compliments the bread and rosemary well) The staff is super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, very quick too, even on a busy Saturday Morning Very chill too for Saturday The pastries are light, fluffy and so delicious too. ** Biggest thing for me is that even though everyone is raising prices they are still very reasonable, so much so I asked to have them double check my check before paying. I love this little bakery. Their items are always so fresh, nothing is ever dry or stale, and the prices aren't bad at all either. They're in the old downtown part of Buford and they're a staple there. I'd absolutely recommend them! read more

Five years since the first time we came here and I wrote my very upbeat review. This is still a favorite of our for either breakfast or lunch and the cakes and pastries are still fantastic! The cafe portion of the business is only a dozen tables, so intimate and occasionally busy, it is still well worth a visit and a wait! read more

We've lived in Buford for and never stopped in here. Yesterday, we thought we'd give it a try, and go for breakfast. Outside is fairly simple and not all that inviting. Inside is decorated better than you may find anywhere. So cute, and filled with interesting decorations and sweets on display. Unfortunately, that's what earned it three stars. We ordered breakfast form their very limited menu. We were informed that they were out of pancakes and cinnamon French toast. Wait; isn't this a bakery? Aren't those relatively simple items? We stayed and ordered anyway. The breakfast was just ok. Nothing to stand out, or make us return. We thought, perhaps we aren't giving it a fair shake, and bought some of their baked goods to take home. Last night we tried the danish, scones, and eclair. The eclair wasn't bad, but needed more chocolate. The scone and danish were solid sugar. That's the only flavor we were able to discern. We asked about the decorations when we were there. We were told the owner decorated the inside herself, but they had 5-10 people who decorated cakes and other items. We were disappointed in the breakfast, as well as the baked goods we chose. The best aspect of this place was the cute decor inside. I'm a fan of giving some places a second chance, and my wife and I agreed we will try their pastries another time. If they're the same, I'll let the post stand as is. read more

We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning, it was busy, but we still found a table right away. It is a darling bakery/cafe, with adorable decor and superb service. My husband ordered pancakes and said they were out of this world, the best he'd ever had. So I had a bite, and they took me right back to my childhood. They tasted just like the pancakes my mother made. We shared biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy was excellent! The biscuits were very good! I had cheesy eggs and bacon with a blueberry danish. The danish was wonderful. Before we left we got a dozen delicious looking cookies, and whined about how we wanted to take cake with us too, but didn't think it would do well in the car for the day (it's going to be 92 degrees today.) We also picked up one of their handmade mugs. Which are super cute! All in all this place was wonderful, we will definitely be back! read more

The Baking Grounds has been a part of my family for over a decade. They were the little house across from arbor clos and then became the pink bakery. I worked there when I was 14 and could only work a few hours a week! I grew up and moved away and had children. My son's first birthday was coming up and we were going to celebrate back home so I knew immediately I needed to call the bakery. I ordered a cake over the phone which I knew was a risk and sent images of what I wanted. The cake turned out absolutely fantastic and tasted even better. However, there were 2 finger prints directly in front of the design and the top was not smooth. It was a tiered cake and you could see the center piece that held up the pieces. Reminder to always check your cake before pick up! read more

Received a delivery for my birthday yesterday from here! I just moved into the area so I haven't been to too many places yet. I'm not sure exactly what I received but I think it's a slice of vanilla cake, a chocolate cupcake and a tiramisu. For the first two items the cake part was very good but the icing was a bit heavy so I just used very little of it. The tiramisu however was amazingggg! I loved it very much and will probably pay a visit soon for another slice! read more

Cute little café in Buford, we went there on a Sunday for breakfast, arrived there around 10am. 1- Place was really cute with tables on both side of the store You just sit wherever you want and the server will bring you the menu 2- Food : very affordable I wanted to go 1st to la madeleine by the mall and I remembered I wanted to try baking ground for quite some time. it is close to where I take my kids for karate and piano. I got 4 eggs with hash brown and toast and my hubby a place with sausage has brown, + 2 hot drinks 3- Price we paid like 18 including tip, it was good I might come back with my kids, food came pretty quickly. be careful when you drive by it is not in a shopping center so you might miss it Support your local business !! read more

Ordered a baby shower cake from Baking Grounds Bakery and was very pleased. A friend of mine recommended them when I was looking for good bakeries. The Baking Grounds Bakery Team was easy to work with and the cake was ready to go at the designated time. More importantly the flavor of the cake was AMAZING!! Seriously. We did a unicorn pumpkin cake. The cake was moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet. One of the gold color eye of the unicorn had a little bit of a blemish but the cake flavor and the rest of the cake design made up for it. They also had a spacious dining space inside the bakery which I will definitely have to come back to try some of their other food. I will definitely be back for custom ordered/designed cakes. read more

The best pancakes ever! It was so good, it disappeared before I could take a picture. If that's not a magical pancake, I don't know what is!!! You must try it... it's only $1.85 per pancake! Really fluffy, light, and has a little crunch on top! I love the atmosphere inside and out. It's such a super cute place, hidden away from everything. I went there for lunch with a friend and I wanted to order a cake for an upcoming party. Because this was not a birthday party, I did not want a childlike theme but I wanted something simple and sweet that had a little bit of oomph. Not only did Dessa, my server, go out of her way to help me think of something (we did start off with a picture I shared of something they done in the past)she also drew it up for me so she could give it to the baker. For many people this might not seem like a big deal but for the modest price that I am paying you would have thought I had paid $800 for the type of service I have just received. Including the wonderful customer service, my soup and salad lunch hit the spot. My Reuben sandwich was delicious as well as my colorful side salad. The cookie that I received instead of chips was a perfect touch to the end of my lunch. It wasn't too sweet yet flavorful. I look forward to my cake in a couple of months as well as going back for lunch! read more

It was like walking onto the set of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! This is literally one of the best bakery's in the Atlanta area. Everything they make is utterly amazing. What a nice little gem in Buford. I'm a sucker for sweets so this place is my kryptonite. After moving Sugar Hill 2 years ago, I avoided this place for as long as I could until I couldn't resist anymore. My brother was celebrating his 40th so we decided to stop by and pick up a dozen cupcakes. The parking lot is fairly small and as you walk up, you can see there is seating indoor and outdoor. Plenty of people there on a Saturday afternoon enjoying brunch/lunch. The variety of cupcakes to choose from was great. We picked up a little of everything including birthday cake, carrot, chocolate, etc. While waiting for them to pack up the cupcakes, I looked around to check out their various pastries and cookies. Needless to say my mouth was watering and I need to get out of their quick. The service and payment was quick and seem less and felt like we were in and out in no time at all. read more

I was looking for a bakery that makes fondant cakes that taste the way they look . I asked in class if anyone knows a good bakery , 3 people mentioned The baking grounds. I looked up their instagram and immediately was convinced. The next day I visited for cake tasting and placed my order . On pick up day , service was GREAT !! They even placed the cake securely in my car. Cake was beautiful , tasted amazing . Thank you !!! read more

For someone ordering custom cakes and things, this place could work. I say could because after my meal I did not opt to try any of their colorful creations. On the other hand, I happened to stop by here for breakfast. Pleasantly surprised, I walked into a lively, bright, 'country- style' café atmosphere. The displays of the pastries look good and there looked to be a lot of variety. Needless to say my sausage was ice cold and the coffee was almost not drinkable. The quality of my meal was less than any typical breakfast chain (Waffle House, IHOP). I don't think breakfast/lunch is this cafe's strong suit, but for cakes and treats they surely have found their audience. read more

I had a taste of cake from this place at an office party and it was great. I decided to get a very nice cake for my sister's birthday. It was big and expensive and I ordered, at my sisters request, and paid extra for raspberry mousse filling. Guess what wasn't in the cake? We had the BEST experience with The Baking Grounds for our grooms cake for our wedding. Malinda was great with communicating and helped me to figure out exactly what I wanted for the cakes design. She made excellent recommendations and listened to everything I said I wanted. She made the whole process so easy! She even called a few days before the wedding just to confirm everything. They delivered the cake to my venue and set it up with no issues. She even accommodated the cake topper I had ordered off of Etsy. And most importantly, the cake was delicious!! We went with red velvet and a mix of buttercream and cream cheese icing (her recommendation) in order to achieve the design we wanted. It looked beautiful and tasted great! We tried three cupcakes: wedding cake, chocolate and champagne. I thought they were just really cold or maybe they were frozen. Naw, tried them the next day at room temp and none of them were good. We made an hour trip here based on reviews. Hopefully, this saves someone else the trip. read more

One thing I do want to mention because I think it matters: After Sally's closed, another restaurant moved into the space previously but never properly updated the signage or Google information. So many people, including myself at one point, walked in expecting Sally's and ended up confused because it was a completely different restaurant and menu. Unfortunately, I think that caused frustration for customers and prevented the previous restaurant from ever really getting a fair opportunity. Noshi is completely different. Noshi opened only about three weeks ago and is owned by Liliana and August, who were both incredibly welcoming and kind during our visit. Liliana handles the front and makes everybody feel welcome while August handles the kitchen and sushi preparation in the back. They both came over to introduce themselves and check on us personally, and you can tell they genuinely care about the community and the experience they're providing. The pricing here immediately stood out to us because it is VERY fair, especially for the portion sizes and quality. Many hibachi plates are around $12-$13 and come with generous portions. Sushi pricing was also excellent with regular rolls around $6-$8 and specialty/fried rolls around $12-$13. We tried quite a bit: fried gyoza dumplings, crab rangoon, the Godzilla Roll, Philadelphia Roll, Boston Roll, Lanier Roll, spicy crab salad, clear soup, steak and chicken fried rice, and vegetable lo mein. The gyoza were crispy and flavorful, and the dipping sauce they serve with them was incredibly good and addicting. The crab rangoon is done differently here than most places. They're larger and almost pastry-like, similar to an empanada style. Crispy outside, soft inside, very comforting, and extremely tasty. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The Godzilla Roll was probably my favorite item I tried. Great flavor, great texture, and very well prepared. My wife especially loved the Boston Roll. The fried rice and lo mein were both excellent as well with fresh vegetables and great flavor throughout. The steak and chicken I ordered with it were tasty and the steak was tender and cut well. They also make their own yum yum sauce in-house and it was excellent, very creamy and flavorful. It paired perfectly with the fried rice, hibachi, and appetizers. I also appreciated how clean and spacious the restaurant is inside. The chairs are actually very comfortable, the tables are large, and the dining room feels open and welcoming. They also have a convenient self-serve to-go setup in the corner. Parking was easy since it's part of a shopping center with plenty of available spaces. They also carry bottled Coca-Cola products, which made me happy because an ice-cold Coke Zero always makes a meal better. This was a genuinely enjoyable experience from start to finish. Good people, fair prices, generous portions, and flavorful food. If you're in the Buford or Flowery Branch area and have been curious about the new restaurant in the old Sally's location, give Noshi Sushi & Grill a shot. Liliana and August are doing a great job and deserve support from the community.

Every single thing about this place is incredible! If you're stopping by for breakfast, I suggest you try the Cinnamon Roll French Toast (with HOT homemade maple syrup!) and/or the biscuits and sausage gravy. Both are awesome! For lunch, the chicken salad has been my favorite for years. Seasoned chicken with celery, red seedless grapes and walnuts. Get it on a croissant. Splurge a buck and upgrade your side to the broccoli salad. Don't leave without a few treats! It is a bakery, after all. My favorites are the wedding cake by the slice and the eclairs! read more
