I don't have much experience with Latino foods, so my review isn't expert level. I thought the little empanadas were delicious and Americano coffee with a cookie - that was quite good too. The store itself is darling and has nice seating and tables so you can take your time to enjoy your treats. Easy parking in the back of the house. In a good location. Very clean and charming environment. Lots to choose from. Service was very good and welcoming. You should make this a spot at least once a month for friends and family. read more

I don't get here near as often as I'd like, but visiting Mela's Bakery is always such a treat. There's unique food I can only get here - the empanadas are a MUST, and of course all the bakery items are fantastic and delicious. There's a nice little seating area and it's bright and homey to sit in and enjoy your items. My kids are always thrilled to go because they get special attention. I think this place is a real gem in Winder and I'm thrilled it's gotten the business it needs to keep going! Today my husband ran to get us the special, Cachapas, which was absolutely phenomenal. So delicious, so flavorful! I love that there's a special exclusive item every now and then. read more

Discovered this gem while looking for a coffee shop nearby. Greeted with excellent customer service and the smell of the establishment made me crave for baked bread and sweet goods. I purchased a hot caramel macchiato and my daughter had the iced. I also couldn't resist and got the danish (apple and blueberry) along with a chicken empanada! I'm a huge "support local establishment" fan so I definitely will add this to one of my rare finds in Winder, Ga! read more

This was my first time at Melas Bakery. I've lived in Winder for a few years now and never knew it was here. I'm so happy I came by because Betsy was the nicest, sweetest person ever! Her shop is so cute and welcoming! The kids had the ham & cheese which was delicious. I had the chicken empanada which was great! We also had a variety of sweets and none of them disappointed. I will be going back of course, definitely with friends to help spread the word! read more

Very nice pastries, friendly service. They have delicious Venezuelan empanadas with beef, chicken or cheese - first time having that kind. They have Sunday breakfast, I'll have to try that next. read more

My daughter and I tried one of their cupcakes and it was very dry and the icing was so hard you had to chew it. I didn't enjoy but my husband got a different pastry and he said it was good. read more

These will always be my favorite finds Walking around Winder with friends who suggested we check this spot out for dessert. As soon as I walk in I see pictures on the wall of tequeños and empanadas.... These are Venezuelan dishes. I look over at the gentleman behind the counter and ask "where are you guys from? " Micky replies "The owner is Venezuelan, from Caracas... She just opened 3 weeks ago" ... SAY NO MORE!! give me an order of everything Unfortunately they were out of Tres Leches cakes as it is a hot seller but I did get myself a few goodies. They are working on expanding their menu so you'll soon see items you may recognize as well. Loved finding such a sweet little place like this in our small town! Tucked away , but right off of Athens street. We we greeted so warmly by the owner, Betsy, who explained she and her family are Venezuelan and everything is homemade! She was so sweet and welcoming and made us feel right at home. I enjoyed a guava and cheese pastelito and a ham cachito ( sweet bread filled with ham) and a delicious, I mean delicious Mocha! Everything so so perfect, it makes it very hard to be on a diet with a menu like this! Highly recommend this cafe for catching up with friends or even just some mom quiet time! There is lots of space to sit and enjoy your food and even a living room with cute couches and games! Support your local Winder business! Can't wait to come back for more and order a custom cake.
