I walked in to West Covina Nursery on the recommendation of my landscaper to select several shrubs…read more Although this is a wholesale nursery and do not sell to private individuals, I was impressed by their huge inventory. The hundreds of plants I saw as I walked around looked beautiful and healthy and the place was buzzing with the activity of employees. I decided on the shrubs that I will need, so my landscaper will go back to purchase them for me.

Have been shopping at this nursery for years and they have always been my go-to. Had multiple…read morenegative interactions with the Manager, T and every interactions was unpleasant. He was profoundly unhelpful and bordered on nasty. He excuse for everything was, "this is a wholesale nursery". I take that to mean that if you are spending thousands of dollars there a month, the don't care! The last straw was when I came to pick up a plant and he said that the whole nursery was on lunch break and I'd have to wait 30-60 minutes. He explained that due to law suits that had to enforce a lunch break. This says a LOT about how they treat their employees. Why they don't stagger their lunch breaks??? Just don't expect good customer service or communication. Aside from T. all of their other employees were thoughtful and helpful.

I had one of my bags split open while trying to pick it up, leading to a glass container smashing open on the ground. I picked up the large pieces and threw them away, then went back inside to let one of the employees know of the incident. She was extremely passive aggressive. I find this quite ironic given that she bagged my items. I had to go back to my car to find new bags to transfer everything into before I could get it into my car. By the time I was done, I came back to return my cart and I could tell someone had mopped the area, but there were still shards of glass that were very visible. Extremely disappointed in the overall lack of common sense displayed. I will add the caveat that this location always seems to be understaffed. No matter how many customers I see in the store, there is always only one register open, which, again, displays an extreme lack of common sense by management.

One of my favorite local grocers - esp for their marinated meats, ceviches, salsas, and spices…read more Their shrimp ceviche is simply the best and sell out often! I've tried many spots and even a place like the Lure Fish house can't compare. Theirs is honestly flavorless compared to Santa Cruz market.. Their guac is also delicious! I come by here regularly to shop for pho spices individually, and a couple staples like cilantro, green onion, and limes. The only thing they don't have is cardamom but I visit Oriental Market for that. Also their bean sprouts are the best in the local area. I've checked sprouts, Ralph's, and even Oriental but they always are watery.. i think they don't store them right or receive the shipment properly. Santa Cruz has the best ones but you'll have to come when they are fresh! They are the best local Mexican market in Goleta imo!

From almost the moment I walked in I felt the comforting warm presence of people who clearly love animals and their owners. I took advantage of the sale on those obviously delicious bully sticks and bought a few other impulse items at the cash register. I got every thing I wanted and some ideas for my next visit. These folks are simply great. They know their products and are quick to steer the lost browsing customer to the product they seek with the impressive knowledge they seem to have of their products and the animals made very happy by them. They made this customer happy too.
