I had plugged in the dimensions and weight on the UPS app on my phone and it gave me a rate of $72.98 to ship my package to the east coast. If I had been home I would've printed out a label and just dropped it off, but I was out running errands and figured I'd just have them issue the label for me. The clerk weighed and measured my package and told me the cost would be over $115. He had added an additional inch in each direction to my box dimensions! My box had measured 26 1/2" x 16 1/8 x 9 15/16" (so rounding up to the nearest inch 27x17x10). He charged me for 28x18x11, and told me they had to "round up". I said that I already HAD rounded up. A rude young man came over and looked at the screen as I grabbed a tape measure and pointed out the error in their measurements. His response was, "Well, if you want to ship it with us, that's the price!" So my response to him was, "Well then, I won't be shipping it with you because that's just downright dishonest!" I went home, printed my own label and was prepared to drive it out to Staples to drop it off, but encountered my local UPS driver as I pulled out of my driveway.
