This is the third Lemos store I have visited and I'm so happy to say that the same efficient, informed, customer service appears to be alive and well at all three locations (Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, and this one in Goleta). From almost the moment I walked in I felt the comforting warm presence of people who clearly love animals and their owners. After a brief browse I was helped by not just one, but two people who were intent on providing this customer with a positive experience. I took advantage of the sale on those obviously delicious bully sticks and bought a few other impulse items at the cash register. I got every thing I wanted and some ideas for my next visit. These folks are simply great. They know their products and are quick to steer the lost browsing customer to the product they seek with the impressive knowledge they seem to have of their products and the animals made very happy by them. I went in because I needed help with traveling with my 2 dogs. I explained we traveled 5 hours with both of my dogs nervous and most of the time on my lap. They made homeopathic remedies suggestions and helped me find a big dog bed (on sale) for our vehicle. Let me tell you. That made such a huge difference on our 5 hour drive back to our home. Every time we are in Goleta I will be visiting their store to supply our dogs with whatever they need. Thank you so much. The staff are friendly, helpful, professional and compassionate. I came by this afternoon for some teeny Greenie treats and canned dog food- my dog has been especially sensitive to dry food recently. They have high quality canned and bagged dog food. Lemos had so many Greenies including a value pack! $45 for 96 Greenies or the value pack was $49 for 130 Greenies... it was a tempting deal but I wasn't sure if my dog would be able to finish that so I settled for the small bag. Angel was the employee that helped me and even threw in some free dog treats. I recommend Lemos for the high quality brands they have and their customer service. This is a nice pet supply store in Goleta. I stopped here because I needed some quality finch food and I trusted they would have a good selection. They did, and they carried it in bulk. I had my choice of filling my bag from a bulk bin or buying in 25 pound bags. I wanted two different kinds and didn't want 50 pounds so I went with the bags from bulk and got exactly what I wanted in the quantity I needed. The staff was friendly and helped me find just what I was looking for. They have some really great dog puzzle toys here; a brand/name I love - Nina Ottosson - but had NO foraging toys for birds or cats. So, I'm very happy with this place as a store to buy bulk bird seed or cat/dog products, but there is room for improvement in foraging/feeding toys/puzzles. Also, I get the feeling people have a lot more birds than guinea pigs in SB/Goleta since they didn't have guinea pig food in giant bags (didn't even have 25 pounders). Hi Paul, Thank you for your reply. I appreciate that you care enough about your reviews to be diligent to respond with courtesy and care - something that I did not receive from your sales crew. I am still concerned for the following reasons: 1.) You state: "We are all about pets, it's what we've been doing since 1972, nothing else. We have a lot a stake when it comes to your pets safety, health and wellbeing and would never intentionally jeopardize that." Your crew did not care about my concerns. They brushed me off and did not offer to share my concern with a supervisor. Worse, they told me they would throw out the toy instead of presenting the choking hazard to a manager. 2.) You state: "We've deeply discounted the DOOG sticks ($2.99 or less-well below our cost) in order to liquidate them due to poor sales. They were too expensive, not because of any safety related problems. We've received no other choking related complaints." If you're deeply discounting the toys, why not just throw them out or send them to the manufacturer? Why take a risk of upsetting future customers and harming their dogs and dealing with liability? Your website does not allow for comments or complaints. You may research the internet and find reviews on Amazon for the same toy. It receives a 2 out of a potential 5 star. Here are a few negative experiences dating from 2014: Mary Jane LaLonde 1.0 out of 5 starsDangerous fetch stick. They pose a choking hazard. January 13, 2016 It states that this is not a chew toy, however, I purchased the other DOOG STICKs and the hands snapped off when my dog fetched the stick. My complaint has to do with the "recycled rubber" from China. The manufacturer does not guarantee that the rubber toy is free from being carcinogenic should a piece break off and enter the mouth or nasal passage of a dog. I would like to know the source of the recycled rubber. The toy states that it is a "fetch toy" and not a "chew toy". However, if a dog fetches the toy and bites on the rubber, which is the only way to hold the toy in its mouth, bits of rubber come off. This is where your choking hazard and carcinogenic liability come in. The EU agency does not safeguard against this problem. 4.) The final issue goes back to the first: customer service. This is my favorite pet food store in SB. They have top quality merchandise at decent prices. Above and beyond that, the people who work there are very knowledgeable and helpful. And if that weren't enough, if I buy a food my dog doesn't like, they take I back. Now it is possible that all stores will take back opens food. Good to see this place getting some love. The staff are always friendly - saying hello and asking if I need help - without being pushy or hovering. They have good quality pet food at a reasonable price. It's so annoying buying food for picky pets that turn their noses up ("Ermegherd. Healthy foods. Does not want"). But Lemos is generous with their samples so your pet can try before you buy. I'm also impressed with how knowledgable the staff are about the science behind the foods and the supplements and medicines they stock. There's one guy who looks about ten years old, but really knows his stuff. He recommended a couple of products I'd never heard of for my dog, but I took a chance on his advice, and it paid off well. My dog loves coming here as well because they spoil him with attention. They also carry your bags to the car if you buy a lot (or because your dog is going feral with excitement I guess). Keep it up Lemos! You're putting the other places to shame. read more

Bruce is our beloved, but very stubborn, orange tabby cat. When Healthwise discontinued their orange bag of dry cat food, he protested. We began attempting to find another cat food that he loved. Over a few months, we tried four or five dry foods and five or six wet foods. He hardly ate anything, and lost a tremendous amount of weight. He finally stopped eating altogether, no matter what we tried. We took him to Dr. Sostrin, at VCA Noah's Ark Veterinary Clinic, who did lab work, we got antibiotics, appetite increasers, and take-home subcutaneous fluids and a big syringe to force-feed him high-calorie wet food. I made a trip to Lemos, and spoke with Bernie Rubio about Bruce's protest to Healthwise's discontinuing his food, and told her that Bruce was literally dying of self-inflicted starvation. Bernie told us about how she had requested Signature Pet Products to make essentially the same formula (which they call Healthy Cat Chicken Meal Recipe with Herring Meal), and Lemos had the food in stock, and on sale!!!! We grabbed it! After five days of force-feeding Bruce pureed food through the syringe every 2 hours, and a few more days tapering off the force-feedings, he finally took his first bite of food on his own, on October 26, 2016. He gradually increased his eating to a normal amount, now that he has his favorite food again, and he is back up to a healthy weight. Thank you, Dr. Sostrin, for working with me on the essential treatment plan. Thank you, Bernie, for being so brilliant as to request this custom formula. Thank you, Signature, for producing the food. Although a regular customer for years at Lemos, I went to Petco at Five Points this morning because they have a 20 % sale on dog halters. After about ten minutes not finding a halter that fit our dog (not their fault), went to front counter asking that they send someone to help us in the halter - leash section. After waiting ten minutes, we left. Went to Lemos. The staff at Lemos (Sean) had us fitted with a perfect halter and new leash to match and we were in and out in ten minutes (no joking). The staff even gave us 20 % off each item to match the sale at Petco. Now, that's a great deal. Ten minutes total. Exceptional sales people. Thank you, Lemos. read more

Hands down my favorite pet store ever! The staff is amazing, the prices are the best in town, and they have plenty of stuff you can't find anywhere else. Bulk bird seed and rawhides, grain-free cat food in big cans. If you want something they don't have, they will immediately order it and will likely start stocking it as well. I bring my dogs with me to shop, and they always remember that one has food allergies and a bad back. They help everyone carry the heavy stuff out without being asked, and they have sales and specials all the time. read more

I have been shopping at the downtown Santa Barbara location for several years. Recently I've noticed a trend with the manager mistreating the employees. I've been a business owner in Santa Barbara my entire life and make every effort to treat my employees with dignity and respect. Limos is a great place, for the most part they are friendly and knowledgeable and have a wide variety of pet supplies. I've been going to this pet supply store for a bout 1 yr. and they've been consistently good in service, products, availability of items, special ordering, competitive prices, and especially in customer service. They're always friendly, outgoing, helpful, knowledgeable about their inventory and willing to find/order items that aren't in stock. They might not have a large variety of items as Petco or Petsmart do, but they make up for it in many other ways. read more

I visited this location to scope out the selection of rat toys. I was greeted by one of the employees and directed to the section I needed. The selection was no better than any other pet store and I was extremely disappointed to find that the shop attendant seemed to know nothing about the animals she was recommending products for. The first thing she recommended for my rats was a hamster wheel. After I commented that there was no way my rats would fit she recommended a different, also FAR too small wheel. I've been a Lemos customer for years - they have a good selection and their employees have always been friendly and helpful. Recently a friend of mine was rear-ended by one of their delivery trucks while she waited on a red light. The driver apologized and admitted responsibility for the incident. Soon after she found out from her insurance company that Lemos had stated that she backed up into the truck (sideways from Calle Real into a driveway??!!), causing both insurance companies to go into arbitration. I personally think that a company willing to take responsibility off of themselves at the expense of someone who was unfortunately in the path of a runaway delivery truck is sketchy at best. I must wonder what other aspects of their business is run in the same manner which has caused me to take my business elsewhere. read more
