Gotta love the Austin Shaker! Such a great local spot to grab wine, liquor, beer, and assorted bar items. There are a bunch of free parking spots out front, but if you live locally, you can just walk right over! My boyfriend has been several times over the last year or so and raved about it to me, so I finally went this week and realized what the hype was all about. Don't be fooled by the small, unassuming exterior. The Austin Shaker is stocked with high quality, artfully selected liquors and wines. The owners clearly have an eye for quality products and take great care in selecting what to bring to the store. We walked in and there was one other customer checking out. A friendly employee immediately came over to us and asked how he could help. He provided incredible recommendations, and we learned some new things about the wine we ultimately selected. Also, randomly, this place is dog friendly. They keep dog treats on the counter, which is a nice touch! We brought our sweet bernedoodle, and there was no issue!

I heard about this place from my whiskey club and decided to stop by and see if I could get a few special bottles for my friends birthday. I was able to find everything I needed and more! They have a great selection of almost anything you can think of to drink! From bottles to cans and even gift bags to fit the bottles in, Austin shaker did not disappoint. The staff was helpful in finding the specific bottles I was looking for, and even helped me pack the bottles into the gift bag and remove the tags. I love the sign on the payment platform that says "don't hit on the staff", it's giving pro women and I love that for us. As the floor mat says, this is definitely one of the best little hooch houses in Texas.

What really does set this store apart are the owners David and Kiki. He knows all things about beer, locally and nationally, and she is a whiskey expert (and I assume other liquor expert). The inside is small, but there is 0 wasted space. Makes for efficient shopping when you can trust whatever you pick off the shelf will be a good buy. I've followed Kiki's recommendations on grabbing some of the locally based Kooper Family Rye Whiskey, and the Hudson Baby Bourbon Whiskey, both of which are excellent! They also have a cool supply of bar tools here, many of which are old school. You should probably get on their mailing list, especially if you are interested in special beer releases. A couple of months ago when The Bruery started distributing to Austin, David recommended trying their sour stout Tart of Darkness, and that too was amazing. Walking in here makes me feel like I'm hanging out at the barber shop of beer gossip. I found out last night that Oskar Blues bought Cigar City..meaning this renowned beer will finally be available in Austin! So basically if you want quality products or to get some knowledge dropped on you, swing by The Austin Shaker!

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great selection. Local. You know what? Stay away. I don't want you crowding me while I'm here.

What Five Stars? because this place is exactly the kind of dive bar that makes Austin weird in the…read morebest possible way. Dirty Bill's is gloriously unapologetic. You walk in and immediately know you are not in some polished Instagram cocktail lounge. It is loud, a little gritty, and full of people who are clearly there to have a good time and not pretend otherwise. The beer is cold, the Lone Star flows like Texas water, and the vibe is pure old school Austin. And yes, the legendary bathroom situation deserves its own paragraph. The men's room features a giant ice filled trough for a urinal, which feels like something out of a 1970s roadside saloon documentary. Somehow it is both ridiculous and perfectly on brand. It actually becomes a conversation starter because you walk out laughing and immediately tell your friends they have to see it and go pee. The crowd was friendly, the bartenders were quick with the beers, and nobody was taking themselves too seriously. I ended up staying longer than planned, drinking Lone Stars and talking to random people like we had known each other for years. If you want craft cocktails served with a rosemary sprig this is not your place. If you want a hilarious, slightly chaotic, authentically divey night in Austin with cheap beer and great stories, Dirty Bill's absolutely delivers. Five stars and I would go back in a heartbeat.

They were spinning some popular tunes. The place was packed with a very fun crowd. It appears to be a bar you come to have drinks and chat. There was a small area where dancing could take place, but no one was dancing at the time. The staff including the general manager was super friendly. It felt like a wedding reception as you came into the club where you were greeted...very warm and welcoming. We had a drink and stayed a short while. It looked like a place you could come for a girls or guys night out or celebrating a fun occasion. Will definitely consider Dirty Bill's for a future fun evening...

Me and the wife went tonight for my birthday and I would absolutely recommend The Guest House! The ambiance is friendly, energetic and the service was impeccable. Our waitress and sommelier were genuine and extremely attentive but never overstayed their welcome. Cocktails were on par with downtown ATX but don't expect a heavy pour. Food is excellent and could easily contend with Odd Duck and Jeffrey's. This restaurant is modern, inventive and... different. A DJ in the restaurant creates a fun and "young" vibe for folks just starting to branch out into fine dining (IMO). Let it be known you can easily spend a fair amount but it's worth the visit. Here are my issues: The dress code is not enforced, seating arrangement isn't intimate, and it doesn't feel exclusive. I understand TGH is trying to put themselves on the map and I respect that. However, patrons can very easily drop $1K on dinner, and while the caliber of the staff matches the asking price, there appears to be no standard for the clientele as T-shirt wearers are accepted at the same level as black tie. Maybe that's just Austin and maybe that's acceptable for TGH. As the restaurant matures and further hones their craft, I would hope the standards increase. I've spent far less money for far better food and equivalent service while adhering to restaurant decorum. To TGH - Commanders Palace you are not. Keep up the good work but I expect a more intimate and professional dining experience for your asking price.

From the vibes, to the food, and the fun, Bull & Bowl delivered on every level. Located on West 6th, Bull & Bowl doesn't have a dedicated or private parking lot. There is street parking all around as well as paid parking lots near by as well. We made our way up to the second level and were immediately greeted by the staff. We were taken past the bar and mechanical bull to our tables. Service was great! They were patient and knowledgeable with the menu/offerings, and made sure everyone was well taken care of. Drinks were great, an expansive menu with specialty cocktail offerings as well as a full bar, side note they do not have draft here. So far as dinner, their menu is rather diverse and we ordered quite the spread. Food came out fast, accurate, and hot. I opted for their Buttermilk Caesar Salad and loved it. Although we only went for the Mechanical Bull and had a blast, they do offer arcade games, duckpin bowling, karaoke rooms, and more. I say that to highlight the energy here was high and there were a number of groups/parties enjoying at Bull & Bowl has to offer and it was LOUD in there. Not a complaint, just something to keep in mind depending on the kind of evening you're looking to have. Everyone left the evening full and with a smile on their face, and Bull & Bowl will absolutely be on our list when looking to host future team outings. Thanks for the great time.
