This is one of 2 locations in the Chicagoland area. This state of the art multi purpose facility…read morefeatures 3 NHL sized ice rinks. This facility also includes an event room, sports shop and a concession stand. Plenty of parking . Other locations in West Dundee. Public skating is also available.

The lobby area is really nice. There's quite a few benches and high-top tables. However, if you needs an outlet, you're basically hoping one of the two tables with access to them is open. The concession stand seemed pretty standard for a local rink. A huge plus was the hockey shop onsite. My biggest pet peeve with the rinks here though is that there's an upper level walk between all of them, and sound carries through these very easily. I wish these walks had a wall or doors between them. Often times, we would hear a whistle from the other rink and think it would be meant for us. For my fellow sports photographers: denoise is going to be your best friend while shooting here. The walls are a dark gray, and it heavily effects the photos. The glass is good to shoot through; however, in my images, the other panels came through with a strong green. There is a set of nets protecting fans in the stands, so if you're looking to get some shots from above, you'll have to use the upper walk near the third rink. I had limited interactions with staff, but overall, I didn't get a great impression (mainly from the ice staff). Perhaps it was just a bad weekend, but it did make me feel unwelcomed as a staff member for a visiting team.

There's also some marked interior trails that are gravel or limestone that seem to go closer to the river. I do not travel those, I would imagine that would produce a lot more bugs. Apparently I have desirable blood, if you're a bug. So, Im not looking to get bit up by insects, so I stay on the main paths. Still have multiple shelters, and plenty of parking at each shelter, & there's grills, there's picnic tables. The dog park is still at Black Road, & and appears to be utilized regularly. Sometimes I'll walk all the way down from Black Road and the trail goes downhill as you get closer to 52/Jefferson and if you continue on it, the path goes underneath 52 and dumps out right behind the bar called Crowd Around Me. Multiple bathrooms along the way, there's semi kept up. I wouldn't say they're super clean but it's an outdoor bathroom. I'll give them this much credit, they are cleaned often enough that they aren't disgusting, and there's usually paper in there. Nice place to walk/bike/E bike/run. Or even gather some folks and have a picnic. Its usually pretty quiet in there. Little more crowded on the weekend, but that's understandable. Worth traveling through. And like I say a good place for exercise.

There's quite a lot of dog poop on the trails so watch. A lot of dog owners come here. It isn't strictly a dog park but it's very friendly for them. There's lots of features including drinking fountains and poop bags if there's any left, which often there aren't so it's advised to bring some bags with you. Also there's trash cans for these bags. The bad thing about this park is you need a permit. Grills are available for cooking. It also has a pavilion. The DuPage River is good for kayaking and wading.

We had such a blast at the children's farm during their "Pumpkin Playland" (Sept 19 - Nov 1, 2026)…read more Admission was $15 for ages 2+ and there were so many things to do with two toddlers, two moms, and grandma. Here was a breakdown of our time there (10:30am - 12:30pm): +explored the farm and pet some animals (ducks, chicks, donkey, piglets, goats) +took pictures at a bunch of their photos ops +lunch/concessions at their shaded picnic area +hayrack ride +corn box +pet some bunnies It felt like a community event, lots of volunteers old and young, helping with the animals and staffing the concessions and pumping weigh area etc. There was a pumpkin patch where you bring your selected pumpkins to the shelter to "weigh and pay" and there were pumpkins for purchase as well (that you don't need to pick from the patch). There was a popcorn station, a smores station, a kid-friendly corn maze (that we didn't get to check out) and even a bunch of vendors right by the entrance selling fresh lemonade, crochet/knit stuffies, 3D printed toys, etc. If you purchase a heavy pumpkin or mums, there is a courtesy golf cart to shuttle your goods back to the car. There was plenty of parking on the gravel lot by the entrance and they opened at 10am on the Saturday we went. It's nice that this farm has bathrooms and overall it felt very accommodating and accessible for little kids, even the little littles. There were lots of spaces for stroller parking and tons of families. This farm was a great place for my toddler to pet some animals. She was a little shy and scared to brush the goats or approach the piglets, but if you kiddo loves animals, they will have a blast. The volunteers are helpful and protect the animals too, keeping a watchful eye and managing the passing off of bunnies, for example, to people's laps, or ensuring the goat and sheep pens are not too crowded. Their concessions menu had hot dogs, hamburgers or cheeseburgers, chips, cans of pop, nachos, apple cider, and Rice Krispies. We brought some food and snacks with us as well, and their covered picnic area was perfect for rest and refuel. There was even a private party at one end of the shaded picnic area, how fun to have a birthday party at the farm. It was a gorgeous fall day to be outside and the staff were so friendly; it was very organized and well maintained, even with the throngs of families that kept arriving throughout the day. I'd recommend coming on the earlier side, the animals are probably less cranky and it's less busy right at opening. Five shining stars for the Pumpkin Playland event at Children's Farm. It's worth the trek out to Palos Park!
