My rent is still below the market rate. Arlene forgot to tell you in her review of South Bay that when she had damage to her apartment, South Bay put her up in a nearby hotel until the damage was repaired and she could move back into her apartment. Retirement living is at it's best in South Bay. So many activities, good dining, and interesting programs to stimulate the mind. Of all the moves during my 80+ years, moving to South Bay is the best!

Last year, we were assessed a 10% rent increase, and they are doing that again this year, ostensibly to "bring everyone up to market prices". In the meantime, this has caused long-time residents to move out, rather than face an additional $2,000 a month rent. The property can do this, because it has a long waiting list of potential renters, to whom they could charge a higher rent. This policy has caused a great disruption in the resident community, as long time residents move out. The building and grounds, which are lovely, are not being maintained. The common areas are getting shabby, and the lawns are rutted with bare patches. Hallway carpets, except for the first floor, are soiled and need replacing. Residents have leaks and other problems to the original sub+par construction. Showers don't drain and holes develop. There is a humidity problem throughout the buildings. There are very few accessible options, such as self opening doors, even though there are many residents who use mobile accessories. In 2025, when Mount Pleasants's moratorium on apartments expires, SouthBay will begin construction on more units, , subjecting the current residents to great noise for the next few tears.

You can just feel you're in a good place. There's a koi pond and water feature front and center in the atrium. It's beautiful. They have a very nice theater used for movies, entertainment and probably services on Sunday. Very nice performance space complete with a piano and stage. Comfortable seating and ample room for guests and their families to attend Everything is labeled well so you're never lost! You can tell the care by the quality and careful attention to detail taken to procure this faculty. Everyone there had a smile on their face (even the grumpers had twinkles in their eyes) so you know that speaks multitude for the care provided. Would recommend and will return!

My husband and I decided to move from Maryland to South Carolina to live closer to family. We had been living in a senior living facility in Baltimore and wanted to find a similar, all inclusive, rental community near Charleston. My 95 year old mother was moving with us, so we needed to find a community that we all agreed upon. We looked at several Senior Living facilities before deciding on Daniel Pointe. We were first impressed by the location of Daniel Pointe. Exiting the busy highway onto Daniel Island was like driving into paradise! The beautiful tree lined roads, walking trails and abundant flowers immediately caught our attention. The entrance to Daniel Pointe was gorgeous, with a stone waterfall, emptying into a koi pond. The facility appeared clean, well maintained and nicely decorated. We were immediately welcomed by the concierge, who introduced us to Amy, the Senior Living Consultant. Amy invited us to the Dining Room, where we enjoyed a delicious meal, while she provided us with information and answered all our questions Following lunch, we toured the community. The main floor is the primary location for most activities, including card games such as Bridge, Canasta, Rummikub, Bingo, etc. There is a large fitness center, game rooms, pharmacy, and a hair salon. There is a large theater where they offer musical entertainment, lectures, movies and non-denominational church services. Adjacent to the Dining Room, is a lounge that offers 24/7 self-serve coffee, hot chocolate, juice, and soft serve ice cream. The Lounge is also the site of Happy Hours, Trivia, games and other social activities. During our visit, the Activities Director was busy with a "meet and greet" social for new and current residents. We spoke with several residents, who all had positive words to say about Daniel Pointe. We toured the second and third floors, where we visited a lending library, art room, billiards room and a chapel. We then proceeded to the apartments. The apartments were spacious, well designed, and equipped with full kitchens, ample cabinet and drawer space, ceiling fans, and full-sized washer and dryers. One of the residents graciously invited us into her apartment, where we were able to visualize our furniture placement. We have now lived at Daniel Pointe for two years. I can't say enough nice things about this community. The staff goes above and beyond to make the residents feel loved, safe, comfortable and at home. They show genuine concern for the residents and for each other. The staff is always friendly and it is obvious that they enjoy working here. When there is a problem, the staff works to correct it immediately. The managers, Gloria and Bob, live in the building and are always available. The facility is managed very well and it shows. Daniel Pointe is the next best thing to living with family!

His dedication and constant smile creates a positive and reassuring experience, and I'm very grateful for his support. I would highly recommend Merrill Gardens, especially knowing Jeff is part of the leadership team. Cindy Krebs

She went to the hospital about one week ago due to heart issues... Never got the visit that was promised many days in a row from Jennifer. Because we did not get a visit in a conversation with the doctors... Even after repeated reach out from family members and five different staff at the hospital... We had to make the decision to take her to hospice. Very disappointed in this level of care for someone in their final days. Infuriating. But also just deeply sad. I would recommend families who loved their elderly folks... To stay away from the promises here

Ashley Gardens became his home thanks to the amazing caregivers who loved him and treated him like family. No memory care facility is perfect, but Ashley Gardens was perfect for him. The caregivers at Ashley Gardens truly know how to love and provide care in a respectful way allowing their residents to maintain their dignity. At Ashley Gardens, our dad and our family developed a meaningful relationship with all of the employees. During our time visiting dad, we witnessed employees treat every resident with the same care that they showed our dad. The end of my dad's life was traumatic for us, but the staff at Ashley Gardens supported our dad and us every step of the way. Here are a few reasons why Ashley Gardens was the best place for our dad: Caring staff-from the welcome at the door to the kitchen staff to the caregivers-he was loved throughout this day. ***Staff was fully present and not glued to their cell phones like in other facilities Activities: Ashley Gardens provides a nice balance of activities for all residents. From volleyball to sing alongs to crafts, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Balanced meals that he enjoyed in a dining room with silverware, real plates and a "no beer" if he desired. He sat at an assigned table ensuring he always had friends to dine with. (In a previous facility, he often ate alone and he was lucky to get a plastic fork) Fox Rehab staff who were present almost daily and worked hard to take care of dad's physical, speech and occupational needs. The facility-the facility is open and goes in a big circle. Dad was able to walk laps and stop and say hello to friends along the way. The facility is fully staffed 24 hours/day and we were always comforted knowing that he had support whenever he needed it.
