Also, there is an onsite salon with a talented stylist, Dewayne, who was incredible-he made my mom's hair look amazing. Indigo Hall connected us with a medical group that came onsite so we didn't have to run to doctor's appointments. The staff was epic-very energetic-sweet-and hard working, checking in frequently and encouraging group participation, and the front desk/Tina et al handled so many questions/situations professionally. My mom was there for a little over 3 years until she passed. We feel so lucky to have chosen such a caring and professional place I can't recommend it strongly enough.

The food was excellent. The dining room and common areas were spacious and beautiful. The activities programs were well-thought out to encourage participation at all levels of ability. However, management oversight was lacking. Throughout her stay, I was the one who discovered several medication prescription errors that negatively impacted her quality of life. They did respond quickly when I found these issues. Billing was also an issue. I found that her room charge rate increased even though the contract stated it would not. It took a couple months for the overcharge to be reimbursed. It also took 5 months to receive the reimbursement for her final prepaid monthly apartment fee. I see that they have a new director since my mom passed, so perhaps this has improved.

    I took my husband Paul to Terra Bella in Summerville, SC for a two week respite from August…read more26-September 9, 2024 in which we paid $2,450 ($175 per day) in advance. I spoke to the nurse Wendy, and she assured us that she would distribute his medication. I spoke to my husband on August 28th, (the 3rd day), and he informed me that they missed 3 doses of his medication. I went to the facility on August 28th to give him his medication because I was concerned he would have a seizure! I spoke with Ricky Flynn, (Area Sales Director) concerning this issue and he assured me that it will be taken care of by the next morning, August 29th. In addition to Not giving my husband his medication, my husband stated they did NOT give him a shower as requested by me. He DID NOT receive a shower until August 29th (after his 4th day there), and I had to call and request that they give him a shower to get that done! When I visited my husband on August 30th, (the 5th day), my husband was soiled from food all over his clothing, AND he was sitting there with a soiled brief (Bowel Movement), so I cleaned my husband, packed his clothes and took him back home!! Prior to leaving, I left a text message to Ricky Flynn concerning these issues and told him I was taking my husband home because I was concerned for his safety and Terra Bella's lack of care towards him. I also informed him that I expect a refund of $1,575 for the days that was left on the contract due to Terra Bella's NEGLIGENCE pertaining to my husband. Terra Bella breached their contract by not providing the care that they agreed to but NOT executed! I spoke to Melissa Dozier, (Business Office Manager) on September 16, and she informed me that we would NOT get a refund because I broke the contract. However, Terra Bella breached the contract and NEGLECTED to provide the service they were compensated to do. Had they provided the adequate service, I would not have removed my husband. I am writing this review pertaining to my displeasure of the lack of services that was NOT provided to my husband while he was in Terra Bella's care. I paid for the days that he was there, even though he was NEGLECTED!! However, due to Their lack of service, they left me No alternative but to remove him from their facility!! Due to Terra Bella's lack of professionalism, they left me no alternative but to remove my husband for safety reasons. I am being forced to take legal actions to be compensated for the days my husband was not there due to Terra Bella's Negligence!! My husband was NEGLECTED and that was NOT okay with me. Terra BelIa breached the contract by NOT providing the service they agreed to! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE to take their loved ones to this place!! Shame on you Terra Bella!!!!

Many of the front line staff are very nice and truly care about the residents. That's the good stuff. Sadly, there's a revolving door especially among leadership positions. They lack weekend staffing esp at a management level. Issues go unresolved, communication is poor and issues aren't communicated in timely way. EVERYTHING went downhill once there was a change in ownership in September 2024. Food quality, options and portions, which had all been excellent, went downhill immediately. "Corporate" is terrible and as Ellen reported above, they are very hard to track down and will do everything they can to avoid fixing an issue once you do track them down. They overcharged my parents $24,000 over the course of 1 year. I had to birddog the bill monthly, was told monthly by front line staff that they know the bill is wrong but waiting on corporate to fix it, I ultimately stopped using autopay due to incorrect charges, etc. I pursued this for 1 year, making them aware of the overcharges monthly before ultimately moving my parents elsewhere. I was finally refunded the $24,000 3 months after my parents moved out but only after I essentially made it my full time job and my life's passion to not let them get away with the blatant dishonesty and thievery. The utter hypocrisy of a company being in the senior care business while blatantly stealing from their residents is disgusting and unforgivable. I will tell everyone I know to steer clear of this facility as long as Sonida Senior Living owns it.

    I placed my husband with Alzheimer's at the Addison West Ashley. The administration there is…read morebasically incompetent, there is no supervision on who enters, leaves the facility. There is supposed to be a manager on duty at all times, but on weekends the " manager" was often the chef (!) not visible in the facility, of course. Other "managers" were supposed to be there....where were they? I was looking for them, office was locked and closed. They had recommended that my husband be in assisted living, only later did I realize that is because they had an empty room to fill - he needed memory care, and he did not get the supervision or care he really needed. The administration over charged me twice, and when I complained they "explained" that invoices come from Corporate and they could not correct them (!!) When I asked for the number for Corporate I was told that he could not give it out! In fact, if you look on line, while there is a phone number listed for corporate, you get a recording and you never get a call back. When I removed my husband from that facility, the only contact the administration had is to try to convince me that I should move him to their memory care. Then two months after moving him, they sent me an incorrect bill in another man's name, overcharging again and threatening legal action. The care is sub-par, particularly the administration, and while there are staff that are caring and helpful, it is hard to make up for lack of competent leadership at the top.
