Ashley Gardens became his home thanks to the amazing caregivers who loved him and treated him like family. No memory care facility is perfect, but Ashley Gardens was perfect for him. The caregivers at Ashley Gardens truly know how to love and provide care in a respectful way allowing their residents to maintain their dignity. At Ashley Gardens, our dad and our family developed a meaningful relationship with all of the employees. During our time visiting dad, we witnessed employees treat every resident with the same care that they showed our dad. The end of my dad's life was traumatic for us, but the staff at Ashley Gardens supported our dad and us every step of the way. Here are a few reasons why Ashley Gardens was the best place for our dad: Caring staff-from the welcome at the door to the kitchen staff to the caregivers-he was loved throughout this day. ***Staff was fully present and not glued to their cell phones like in other facilities Activities: Ashley Gardens provides a nice balance of activities for all residents. From volleyball to sing alongs to crafts, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Balanced meals that he enjoyed in a dining room with silverware, real plates and a "no beer" if he desired. He sat at an assigned table ensuring he always had friends to dine with. (In a previous facility, he often ate alone and he was lucky to get a plastic fork) Fox Rehab staff who were present almost daily and worked hard to take care of dad's physical, speech and occupational needs. The facility-the facility is open and goes in a big circle. Dad was able to walk laps and stop and say hello to friends along the way. The facility is fully staffed 24 hours/day and we were always comforted knowing that he had support whenever he needed it.

With my experience there, with my father, there is often one lone person on the floor, Looking after 60 to 70 people. The same person often works two shifts in a row because they are always extremely short staffed. You often see the help asleep because they are working them to death With very few breaks, and a huge workload. If you ever need to call there for any reason, you may never get an answer. If you call the floor that your loved one is on, you will never get an answer because they are too busy. There's a different person at the front desk quite often because they do not pay enough and cannot keep help. The bathrooms that the public use often have excrement on the wall, and obviously have not been cleaned in forever. The carpet smells old and the food in the dining room smells bad and not inviting. This is a beautiful large facility that could be done so much better if the owners were not so greedy. We have had to hire a private care staff to make sure he is able to be put on the toilet and doesn't have to wait three hours. This is nothing but greed on the part of the owners. The owners, by the way, stay hidden behind layers of people in front of them so you could never find out who they are. And none of the layers of people ever answer the phone. If it would not be so hard on my father, I would move him. Do not choose this place.

The…read morefirst thing you need to know is that the nurses sit behind the desk and play on their phones. Totally lazy because my mom probably only got a bath once a week.. My mother has Alzheimer's and it is very important to keep a schedule. That never happened. If she wanted to stay in bed, they let her. How do you get Rehab in the bed? if she wanted to eat fine if she didn't fine. She was supposed to be on a finger food diet, which they never could get correct. She is blind, so she can't eat regular meals as easily as she can finger foods. So some days food was minimal. I made sure she did get some food. When they released her and brought her home, she had not had a bath, and her under clothes were soiled. If you care anything about your family member, please don't go there. I could say more, but that gives you an idea of how poorly your family member is treated.
