Ashley Gardens became his home thanks to the amazing caregivers who loved him and treated him like family. No memory care facility is perfect, but Ashley Gardens was perfect for him. The caregivers at Ashley Gardens truly know how to love and provide care in a respectful way allowing their residents to maintain their dignity. At Ashley Gardens, our dad and our family developed a meaningful relationship with all of the employees. During our time visiting dad, we witnessed employees treat every resident with the same care that they showed our dad. The end of my dad's life was traumatic for us, but the staff at Ashley Gardens supported our dad and us every step of the way. Here are a few reasons why Ashley Gardens was the best place for our dad: Caring staff-from the welcome at the door to the kitchen staff to the caregivers-he was loved throughout this day. ***Staff was fully present and not glued to their cell phones like in other facilities Activities: Ashley Gardens provides a nice balance of activities for all residents. From volleyball to sing alongs to crafts, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Balanced meals that he enjoyed in a dining room with silverware, real plates and a "no beer" if he desired. He sat at an assigned table ensuring he always had friends to dine with. (In a previous facility, he often ate alone and he was lucky to get a plastic fork) Fox Rehab staff who were present almost daily and worked hard to take care of dad's physical, speech and occupational needs. The facility-the facility is open and goes in a big circle. Dad was able to walk laps and stop and say hello to friends along the way. The facility is fully staffed 24 hours/day and we were always comforted knowing that he had support whenever he needed it.

Somebody at Harmony, propped open a door leading to the courtyard and my mother-in-law wondered (alzheimer's Patient) through the open door into the courtyard and she ended up getting bit by thousands of ants from the untreated ant mounds in the courtyard. The worse part, they put her back in her room with no medical care for around 15 hours. We just happened to be going for a visit, found her in bad condition and we ended up calling 911. She was in ICU for 2 days and the hospital for a week, but she passed away before she could be released. PLEASE DON'T entrust your care to this facility. PLEASE do a public records court case search on any of the facilities prior to leaving your loved one. We did a court search and found 7 lawsuits for wrongful death against Harmony over the course of 6 years. However, we didn't do the court search until after it was too late. Find out your information before you put your LOVED ONE in any home. Don't just listen to reviews.........do your research!

My mother has Alzheimer's and it is very important to keep a schedule. That never happened. If she wanted to stay in bed, they let her. How do you get Rehab in the bed? if she wanted to eat fine if she didn't fine. She was supposed to be on a finger food diet, which they never could get correct. She is blind, so she can't eat regular meals as easily as she can finger foods. So some days food was minimal. I made sure she did get some food. When they released her and brought her home, she had not had a bath, and her under clothes were soiled. If you care anything about your family member, please don't go there. I could say more, but that gives you an idea of how poorly your family member is treated.

Even though he was sleeping most of the time and was at the end of life the care and assistance was not present and available and I had a terrible experience with this Kempton property in Charleston. Would not recommend.. no one was on hand to attend to my husband, and he had to be transported to the hospital, which was another issue. It was a Sunday morning. The higher-ups were not in or reachable and no one knew what to do. I did report these issues to the corporate offices in North Carolina. I am unable to un-highlight the one star & I would give it zero stars.

While some of the rooms and common areas could benefit from updates and fresh paint, the environment was comfortable and well maintained. One consistent complaint from my father-in-law was the food, which he did not particularly enjoy. That said, the staff always treated him and our family with kindness and respect. Unfortunately, my father-in-law passed away while in their care, but he was a very sick man with significant health issues. During this difficult time, the staff showed compassion and were very supportive of our family, which we greatly appreciated. One thing that truly stood out was their pet visitation policy. After providing proof of vaccination, we were able to bring our dog to visit him. Those visits brought him a tremendous amount of joy and comfort, and it meant a lot to our family to be able to share that time with him. While there is room for improvement with the facility updates and food quality, the caring staff and compassionate treatment of residents and families made a difficult situation a little easier.
