There are two things that draw me to a business such as this: good prices and good customer service. The Armory has both in spades.
Their website has just recently undergone an upgrade this year and is much better than it was. The first place I'd recommend going when entering their website is the link that says "In-Store Pickup". It goes a long way towards explaining why there may be a difference between in-store and on-line prices. Better yet, it tells you how to match their online prices for in-store pickups. THIS IS A MUST READ!
Local Gun Store prices are typically noted to be higher than the big retail store prices. While it may generally be true that big retail stores can beat The Armory's prices, they can ONLY do so on the small number of specific types of ammunition they carry...even so, The Armory frequently beats even these prices with their periodic sales. The Armory also has a MUCH larger selection of ammunition available than any of the big retail stores. When The Armory has a sale...they tend to really stomp the big retail store prices. And their normal prices are typically lower than other local gun stores.
At the height of the "ammunition crisis" we all experienced the last few years, when finding virtually anything was next to impossible, The Armory was able to help me. I had bought my wife her first pistol in .380 ACP. This was something that I didn't have any existing ammunition for, so I had to locate some. It was harder to find than .22 LR. One of the employees of The Armory turned out to be a member of an online forum I'm a member of...and he went out of his way to help me out. Turned out that The Armory had some .380 ACP and, better yet, it was available in both quantity and at a good price.
Just this weekend, I bought an AR-15 platform rifle for my wife's upcoming birthday. Again, this was something that I didn't have any existing ammunition supplies for. I had been shopping around for .223 ammunition for a while, so I was very familiar with local and online prices. Knowing The Armory had a good sale going on right now for 9mm, I checked their .223 prices. They had an outstanding deal going on, so I placed my order for 3,000 rounds late Saturday night as an In-Store Pickup. I called Sunday to see when I could pick it up, not expecting it to be ready as large quantities might not be ready if their warehouse wasn't open on Sundays.
Great news! They were processing my order, but hadn't yet packed it in the ammo cans! ON A SUNDAY RIGHT AFTER OPENING UP! I asked if they could have it ready to pick up in the cases and leave the cans empty for me. It was waiting for me when I walked in...and they carried it out to my car for me when I walked out about 5 minutes later.
Time and money being what they are, and the Hampton Roads area being as big as it is, it's also mighty convenient to be able to go online and see what their prices are without having to actually drive or call in, something many brick and mortar businesses won't do. And if I just don't want to make a time consuming, gas burning trip? They ship and I pick it up at my door.
IN CLOSING:
I've found the people at The Armory to be knowledgeable and friendly every time I've visited or called. They're up-front about everything they do and they're very helpful. If you don't have these people listed in your Favorites on your computer at least for ammunition shopping, then you're likely losing out. read more
