I keep attempting to give the armory a clean slate, and spend some money. But it's like they don't want your money. You walk in and give a "good morning" and you're greeted with a stare. You ask a question, and you get a head shake, no words. You look at products in cases, and employees ignore you rather than asking if you need to see something. I've literally gone in with a mindset of "I'm going to buy this gun", and walked out after being blatantly ignored by employees. I could look past some of this if the prices were decent, but they're not. If you want to hoard some garbage steel cased ammo, or spend too much on a basic gun, by all means. Otherwise, visit ANY of the other local FFL's. read more

However their staff is general extremely knowledgeable and are willing to help you with any firearms related information you may need. I've been off and on shopping at the Armory for about 8 years. So I'm used to certain staff members being complete jerks. But today was the last straw. I went to pick up ammo and the older guy that sits in the front on the computer started helping me and as I was telling him what other ammo I wanted. He took a phone call and walked off and didn't return. Luckily a lady from the back came out a minute later right before I left and finished helping me. Even a few other customers were confused. The Armory was offering a splendid deal for a rifle and a shotgun combo. After talking to one very helpful employee I left with my husband to discuss the deal. Upon returning to complete a sale, I was greeted by two older employees very different demeanor. Gun buying shouldn't be easy but it definitely should not be disrespectful. When returning to the store to ask about a rifle and shotgun I was immediately shot down due to lack of "feeling" like I haven't completed my sea time on a ship by serving my country with a 9 month deployment and 5 years of service. Right after I got the feeling that I was complete ridiculed for separating from the navy and also transferring to California. At the end of the day I would never do busy here again. You would think that with age comes respect but The disrespectful mess was too much I guess, and you have to look old and broken to buy a gun here or not affiliated with California at all. read more

Staff are only interested in continuing conversations with their regulars even when several people are waiting for service and they act annoyed if you try and ask a question...I just find it odd that this small and totally unimpressive shop would act like there aren't a million other options to buy firearms and ammo out there. Ok so I just called the Armory and a guy answered. I asked him if they are operating under normal business hours since the holidays. He said yes. I then asked if he had time for a quick question in which he replied "sir I do not". I then replied "that's a great way to earn business, I'll take mine elsewhere ". Man do I have a huge Christmas list to get. They have no clue the amount of money they just lost. I've been here a couple times before and already had a bad taste but this was just the straight up vinegar that got accidentally put into the cake. My go-to gun shop. Great prices. The sales people are friendly and able to answer questions. Wish they carried hunting rifles and shotguns, black powder firearms and supplies, and reloading equipment and supplies. For most, this is the store to buy a defensive firearm rather than target or hunting firearms. If you're looking for a revolver, this is not the store. It specializes in ARs, S&W MP pistols, Glocks, Sigs, and Kimbers. Their bulk ammo prices are great. There are a few guns they offered in the past at great prices and which I did not jump on. Still kicking myself for passing those by. That's why I stop in every so often just to browse and if they have something on my bucket list, it gets bought on the spot. read more

The armory is 1 of the closest gun/ammo stores near me. Staff are helpful but sometimes don't have info or details about some of my questions. store is a bit cramped. The have a fun guns that caught my attention remington nitro mag and the HK USC but I mainly go here for ammo. .38 spl, .357 magnum and .308win. always had the ammo i needed. prices are fair compared to others. read more

I went in with a shopping list for over $1200 worth of product and was told that they would not honor their advertised prices. .40 ammo was 33% higher than what they advertise and the counter guy just said "sorry that's the way it is". They still have the lower prices posted on the Internet but say they will only honor those prices for mail order customers. They admitted that this policy is not mentioned on the website. I went here once before and found the staff to be arrogant, condescending, and uninformed. I figured I would give them another try but see now that I was just wasting my time and gas. read more

It has now been 7 months, now I understand there might be issues with manufacturers not making certain cans, but being told it's coming seems like a lie to buy time. I'm not sure why people have been hitting on their customer service. I came to check out a gun and was greeted when I walked in, and someone helped me immediately when I needed it. They have a good selection of LEO discount guns which I bought. Later, I came to pick my gun up, which was ordered, FIVE minutes before they closed. Keep in mind there is quite a bit of paperwork to be filled out, especially right as they were closing. Everyone in the store helped me and I didn't get single bit of attitude from anyone in the store at the time. They were polite and did not rush me out. It took about 20 min to which I was very grateful they helped me BC my schedule is hectic. Large gun and accessory selection also. read more

Easy going staff. No high pressure sales pitching and their prices are likely better than most in Hampton Roads. Went in with a bunch of questions and didn't feel like I was bothering them at all, and they were pretty busy. Ended up getting a few items, background check took the normal amount of time and they were happy to "talk shop" and show me a few other neat firearms to keep in mind while we waited on paperwork.
