BUYER BEWARE! Employees are okay. Owner is not. I attempted to make a purchase and apply a small store credit, in my name, and verified by the store manager. The owner refused. Called me yelling using foul language and wouldn't allow me to talk. I told him to just forget it. He replied, "I am going to forget it. I'm tired of this s#*t" and hung up. This just confirms that conflicts are common and also confirms Tacticool's substandard reputation. Very unprofessional and a bad business. The credit isn't worth the fight. He can have it. Any rebuttal of this statement is simply not the truth. Find someone else. There are plenty of good ones out there. read more

Short story about my recent interaction with this place. I dropped off two barrels and a spiral fluted bolt to be cerakoted September 15. The owner himself told me he had lost a cerakoting guy but that it would be about a month for him to do it. He went on to describe how he'd use clay in the fluting to accomplish this. Great I told him I don't really care about the two barrels, but I want the bolt back for hunting season. A month would've been October 15. I called to check on this in early November and was told there's nothing listed beside my name. But that it should almost be done. Today nine weeks later after I originally dropped it off I went into the shop to see how things were going. The owner proceeded to tell me that he really only likes to do simple stuff, but that he could call somebody to see if they'd be interested in doing this. Are you freaking kidding me? It would've taken two minutes to give me a phone call to tell me that you didn't want to do this anymore. Instead, I've gotta find out halfway through gun season that the project isn't even started? Wow just wow. read more

This place is great. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A wide selection of cool items, especially if you want to build your own AR. Definitely recommend this place. A small shop that delivers on customer service. read more

Really cool shop I found while passing through the area. The staff is all Ret, former or current MIL & LEO. Don't judge this place from the street out front . Go in it is larger then it seems and has a ton a ton of stuff. From builders stuff to already built stuff. They have a vast array of items and the prices are on point. If your looking for a pistol they have you covered in all shapes, flavors, and prices from your Honda Civic(Glock) to your Lamborghini (Wilson Combat) read more

Amazing shop. I had a rifle built there to my liking. Great staff who are very knowledgeable. Would definitely back for some more merchandise. read more

Tacticool Firearms - Guns & Ammo Near Me - Newport News, Virginia

Got my S&W handgun, no problems too easy. I know I'm military, but the background check literally took about 5 minutes. Good quality, biggest/best selection of compacts and sub-compacts from all the gun stores I went to in Hampton and Newport News. Only reason I'm giving it a 4 star is cuz they charged about 100 dollars more than what the website had, but I guess that's just business. On that day me and my buddy were buying together and the clerk sold us 1,000 ammunition for only 570, a steal. Pretty solid store. read more

Very knowledgeable. HUGE selection Couldn't ultimately help me because I was between addresses.

Great place for your sporting/tactical rifle needs. Great selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Complete purchase and build in less than 90 minutes. Very competitive prices. Endless customizing options. They even do Cerakote. Will definitely be back! read more

Awesome service and the employees are very knowledgeable. Great selection and normally always has ammo.

So no need for any of those new gun laws to up the price on ammo and guns, this place already has. Box of 20 rounds of .45 hollow points they're charging$42.00 for 20 rounds that is outrageous. I called another gun store and got 50/ hollow point rounds for $41.00. That's 30 more rounds for $1 cheaper. Disgusting inflation by tacticool, not professional at all. read more

Tactiuncool!, poor service, incompetent FFL service. Open gun box, throw out your invoice and don't care attitude.

Stopped in a few days ago to look around, ended up leaving with a beautiful new piece. Great selection of new and used firearms, plenty of gear and ammo, and friendly staff. Everybody, including staff and customers, were very happy and accommodating. You can tell everyone in there is passionate about what they do. I will 10000% be returning! Only thing that could make this place better is an attached range, but even without it there is plenty there to keep you occupied. read more

Great Little gun shop with tons of options for those wishing to build their own AR platforms. Great Staff and a very comfortable environment. read more

I had the worst online ordering experience I have ever had. I wanted to order some ammo so I went through the online ordering process only to find out they only take bitcoin. There is no other payment method so I got an email saying my order was rejected. I called them to see if there was anyway to use a credit or debit card. The person that answered spoke no English which was disappointing because we couldn't communicate. So he tried to send me text messages that made no sense. The attendant was also very rude and impatient. I find it incomprehensible an online company will only take bitcoin. Between not be able place an order and trying to speak with an attendant who didn't speak English made me go elsewhere to place my order. I strongly recommend never ordering from Tacticool Firearms. If they can't employ an attendant that speaks English I will boycott their company. After my experience I also wondered if this outfit it a total scam. Proceed at your own risk when dealing with this company and be sure you have plenty of bitcoin if you want to place an order. read more

I mainly use their FFL service. They are prompt and I have had zero issues. Customer service has been great. $25 per transfer and they have a punch card so every 6th transfer is free. For me, so far-so good. I will continue to use them. read more

I'm pretty impressed so far. Prices are actually decent. I was able to buy the parts I needed cheaper than online. Also they carry high end brand names which is refreshing. Staff seemed to be very helpful and knowledgeable of modern firearms. Not the typical grumpy old man behind the counter that you normally see in a gun store. Time will tell but so far so good. read more

I liked the place at first. Personel changes, price increases, and attitudes have changed. Prices on Ceracoating have DOUBLED and have been inconsistant at best. FLL has went up and now they charge for each gun. What a rip off that is! I asked for a repair to a gun, they took 6 months and ended up breaking it more didnt fix anything! Had the nerve to charge me for it! I complained to the owner (at least he acted like he owned the dump...) about the price increases and he got smart and told me to go somewhere else. They mostly carry expensive parts for ARs and have severely over-priced glocks. Weird for being a ghetto gun shop in the east end of Newport News. read more

I went here to buy ammo and drop off my Sig p938 to have the ejector fixed. I bought ammo But they couldn't fix the Sig. They charged me $35 just for looking at the gun..crazy right? Also, poor customer service. I was really looking forward to supporting the local business. I won't be returning. read more
