As someone who's never held a weapon before, I had the coolest opportunity of going to the shooting range over the weekend and what an experience it was! We arrived around 3pm on Saturday and there was a 45 minute wait to get into the range. That gave me plenty of time to sign the waiver and look at all the weaponry throughout the store. As soon as the range was available, we had to put on noise cancelling headphones and protective eyewear before entering. With it being my first time at a shooting range, the sounds of the guns were a bit overwhelming at first but I eventually got used to it and was able to concentrate enough to practice a few rounds. This was something I've been wanting to do for quite some time and I'm so glad I was able to experience it and cross it off my bucket list. For around $25pp, definitely check them out if the shooting range is something you enjoy or if you're a first timer like myself who wants to do something fun and exhilarating!

Came here for the USO Virginia Beach experience for military, veterans, and their dependents! I underwent two classes, in which I was able to shoot a Glock 17/19 and some rifles and weapon used by croatian. The safety brief was about 10-15 minutes, and the amount of people per class was between 3-6. We had our own station area, was taught how to load the gun with and without a gun loader, and was shown how to hold each weaponry. The Glock 17/19 were harder to aim but easier to hold. 19 was smaller than the 17. They were named after their patent rather than the size. Highly recommend the lessons!

Shout out to THOMAS for being absolutely helpful. This place has employees that are very knowledgeable of all things guns and outdoors. SO MUCH variety of guns and bow and arrows. A lot of hunting supplies too. And if you're not comfortable with guns or bows, they still have a selection of things you can use for defense, pepper spray, knives, etc. Good quality merch, kinda pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Shooting range is expensive but can be worth it depending on how you spend it. But other than that, highly recommend this place!

Had a wonderful experience. I came in knowing I wanted to purchase a gun and learn how to safely operate one. Each staff member was very informative, made me feel relaxed, and walked me through the process. I have small hands, and they even recommended a great gun for that.

Not bad for seven yards!

Do not choose this dealer for NFA transfers. It will take longer and you will be treated with distain by a condescending staff.

I recently participated in the patrol rifle course at onpoint solutions and let me tell you. That…read moreis by far the most fun I have ever had with my clothes on. I have never been challenged like this in such a welcoming, immersive, and authentic way. This course challenged my fundamentals ! Let emphasize what I mean by that, being proficient in anything is just a concrete stone mastery of your basic fundamentals. I learned through this course from the instructor first hand that "All of your basics will be in your advanced techniques" all of the basics you learn will then translate into the foundation you need to build on new skills. The service is friendly as always, my fellow students were amazing guys willing to work and train with me which made me feel great! I was the bottom of the totem pole in my class but these guys really helped inspire me and the instructor waiting up for me. When I say he pushed my limits he challenged me in a good way! If I messed up, we would slow down. If I was doing perfect, we would speed up. That was the best part it's always good to have good critiquing and good pressure in your training but it's a million times better when you know you're in a safe environment ! Instructor Rico says "safety is no accident" when you're in the class he teaches and informs you with his knowledge and you learn a lot as well as laugh a lot through that experience HOWEVER ! When you get to the range instructor Rico is all business. You still have fun but your safety is his number one priority and that's the way it should be so 10 out of 10 I can't say enough about these guys with just the training ! Let's get to the bonus 1. You are working and training with a wide array of different backgrounds, people, training, personalities, and most of all different proficiency levels. But that shouldn't discourage because all of the classes I have taken here it is a three step program !! Crawl, walk, and run. If you fall behind the pack Rico will take his time to work with you one on one. Ask the same question ten times and he will make sure that you know it before he moves on. He will find a way explain it in a way you will understand. 2. The space is clean, well kept, smells nice inside, and they have chips, water, this time we had fruit etc etc. there's a fridge for your lunch if you brought your own or you need to cold store medication. That bathroom smells amazing and is spotless you could eat your lunch off of that floor and the soap smelled amazing as well. 3. Weapons, there's a sign that says no weapons beyond a certain point. I don't have a car I had to Uber to my class so I couldn't leave my carry weapon in a vehicle however I would encourage you to be straight up with instructor Rico and be honest with him. If you have it ! Tell him you have it so he can accommodate. He's such a cool and understanding guy he will help you out. Just talk to him and don't try to hide it. I told you before that the instructor focuses on safety so help him keep that class safe by complying with the few rules this place has it's not hard to follow. I will close by saying do not come to this class with low expectations because I promise you I Guarantee you ! That you will learn a whole hell of a lot more from this class than what you would expect when you come through instructor Rico's doors. It's real world scenarios and practical training for the time that we are living in here and now!!! Real world training !!! Like the old saying goes "when the people are ready the teacher will appear" the teachers are here the training is here and it can only be found at ONPOINT SOLUTIONS

1st Virginia Public Safety Training Academy

I enrolled in the 02E Entry-Level Private Investigator course at 1st Virginia Public Safety…read moreTraining Academy in June 2025 to try and pave the way to a career after retiring from the military, and it was without a doubt the worst educational experience I have ever had. The instructor, Luis Cortes, demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism, instructional structure, and ethical conduct from the moment class began. Here is exactly what happened: No Real Instruction Given: The first half and only day of actual classroom time was spent listening to Luis Cortes ramble on about his past as a bodybuilder and brag about how agencies supposedly seek him out for training. Instead of teaching, he used up class time to gloat and print off a disorganized 100-page packet that we were then told to study outside of class, with no in-class teaching, review, or guidance on the material we would be tested on. Abandonment of Classroom Responsibility: After that first day, which was on a Monday, Luis Cortes informed us we were told not to return until that Friday, essentially dismissing us from the course while still expecting us to complete a series of self-directed assignments, robbing us of the required sixty hours of classroom instruction to legitimately fulfill DCJS standards and earn a license. We were given a vague scenario (e.g., car crash) and told to generate our own investigative case file from scratch, with zero instruction on how to properly conduct interviews, draft reports, or follow legal procedures. It was the equivalent of paying nearly $500 to be told, "Figure it out on your own." Hidden, Undisclosed Costs: On top of the $495 course fee, students were expected to pay additional, undisclosed expenses. These included using our own gas and transportation to attend civil/criminal court hearings and to go to city records offices to pay for and retrieve the original deed to our current residence. None of these required tasks were mentioned prior to enrollment, which is deceptive and unacceptable for any legitimate training program. Unethical and Possibly Improper Behavior: During class, Luis Cortes called someone he personally knows at DCJS on their cellphone to expedite student paperwork, then told us not to tell anyone about it, explicitly admitting it could get them both in trouble. This behavior directly contradicts the "moral, legal, and ethical" standards he preached during the course. It was both hypocritical and concerning. Unprofessional Environment: Luis Cortes made an inappropriate comment to a student that made some of us uncomfortable. The entire setting felt more like a personal vanity show than a professional learning environment. The lack of structure, lack of respect for students' time and money, and blatant disregard for proper protocol made it very clear this is not a place committed to actual education. Bottom line: This was not a class. It was a disorganized, overpriced, self-study assignment disguised as professional training. If you're considering this academy for any certification through a class instructed by Luis Cortes, don't. You will not receive what you're paying for, and you'll likely leave frustrated, misled, and still unprepared to pass your exam or perform in the field. I have formally withdrawn, filed a complaint with DCJS, and requested a refund and permanent removal of my personal information from their system. Save your time, your money, and your patience. This is not a legitimate learning environment. One star only because zero stars is not an option.

I am pleased to say that I ended up continuing on with my training from Unarmed to Armed officer. The instructors are amazing people. They inspire you to be the best you can, they teach you strength through knowledge and proper training. The instructors teach you in specifics taking you step by step using tricky tactics to keep you on your toes preparing you for the big step outside. The lead instructor was very helpful, an issued had happened and he was first to step up and say "You are my student so therefore I got your back". It was a very positive experience and I hope to come back and train more with 1st Virginia Training Academy. No one knows their stuff better than these men and women. Would definitely recommend!
