Great view and people. Tacos on Monday, and other munchies. This place has been a home away from home for many years!

This is a great place to stop if i need of refreshment in Benson. The bar sits directly beside a rodeo arena. They had several events scheduled for the week from roping to a full rodeo, sadly we missed any action on the day we stopped in. The bar its self is clean enough despite being as old as the hills. There is a weathered looking pool table and two horrible televisions that seem to be showing QVC and ESPN... hard to tell with all the static. Homemade beef jerky available if your hungry and/or brave. The great news is that this place has an old school liquor license that allows for patrons to take their drink anywhere on 4+ acre property. Also, the prices here are good and they have a decent selection. No complaints on the service.

You can take your ice-cold beer outside without putting it in a cup, mosey on over to the bleachers and watch rodeo while drinking beer.

I really hate giving a small business a low rating, but here goes…read more I've heard about this place on Facebook and then through the few Yelp reviews. Ratings gave this a positive vibe. Cool. Gotta check this place out because there really isn't a "cool vibe" in Benson. It's a sleepy neglected railroad town that gets ignored by interstate drivers. There's not much in Benson to draw someone to visit this town. But I'm not an interstate driver passer-by, I live in Sierra Vista, 40 miles to the south. I actually planned a trip north to this place to check it out with a burger and beer Thursday special, and then spend some time walking around the old 'hood with my dog to check out the holiday lights. Bad move. I got here at 8:02pm on a Thursday night. The bartender told me the kitchen closed at 6pm. Huh? On a Thursday? I can understand Sundays through Wednesdays, but a Thursday? I was dumbfounded. The sign up front said the place was open until 10pm, but there was nothing stating "kitchen closes at 6pm." Nowhere. I drove all the way to Benson for nothing? Yeah, I was livid. The bartender was willing to talk to the manager but I was not about to request that the manager open the kitchen just for my order, not two hours after the kitchen staff was let go. I understand how restaurants work: hourly employees are let go early when business is slow. It's hard to make a living as kitchen staff for a restaurant unless the restaurant is popular for its food, ambiance and vibe. This place is too new to draw a fanbase. Give it some time. Then I remembered (once I calmed down) that this place is a bar first. Not a restaurant. You walk into a small room and see the bright lights, the comfy couch set up front to the left, and the beer list on the wall to the right. People sit at the bar to drink, not to savor a juicy burger. Lesson learned. I will try again in the future. The business has a Facebook page and when it advertises a meal deal for dinner, I'll be all over that like flies on feces. Maybe a weekend visit would be more appropriate.

I couldn't stay long, though, because this place only accepts cash. Today I came prepared. I met a friend there at 1pm. We sat outside on the spacious, covered patio while a local band was tuning their instruments, getting ready for showtime. We had our dogs with us, so we sat as far away as we could so that my dogs wouldn't start barking. On Sundays Buddy's Bar offers a potluck meal at 2pm. Dishes are prepared by locals and you pay with donations. Ham, red beans and rice, BBQ chicken wings, corn bread, various salads and desserts were available for several hours. A local band called the Quail Ridge Pickers provided the music. This is a full-service bar. There are five beers on draft here: Budweiser, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Coors Lite, Dos Equis, all for $3. There are more craft beers in bottles for $3.75 The interior is dark, but this is a popular local watering hole. The customers are regulars. A Christmas tree stood in one corner, ablaze in colorful lights. My one complaint? Whenever I went up to the bar for refills, I got my beer in a plastic cup. When my friend did the same, he came back with glass pints, The glass pints hold at least two extra ounces of beer.

I noticed this place off the Main Street and was curious. This place has been open since last October and yesterday was the first time I knew the place existed. It doesn't open until 4pm and I'm usually back home by then. It has a nice ambiance. Motorcycles adorn the walls. At least two TVs are high up on the walls. The dark wood adds earthiness. There are electric outlets under the bar to charge your phone. I had my dog Hansel with me and the open-air design attracted me to this place. I sat at a picnic table facing the street. Hansel enjoyed looking down on dogs walking by, thanks to the elevated platform we were on. Service was prompt. I noticed that the menu wasn't very extensive and the prices were on the high side. I settled for the two Brisket Tacos for $18.99. I had water to drink. The tacos were very good. The beef was well spiced and there was no skimping on any of the ingredients. The baked beans were sweet, the cole slaw a mere 1-ounce serving. It was a tasty meal. They serve $5 margaritas during Happy Hour 4-5pm weekdays.
