This is an update to the original review for the DCP creation and delivery done by Archetype Company. We finally got to see the film screened at a festival in all its glory -- projected on 2k on a 40x60 ft screen and it was soooo amazing! The sound, the picture, everything came out perfect and we couldn't be more pleased by the work done by Archetype. There is NO ONE else that I would trust more than John at Archetype for the service he provides and the care he takes in taking your sweat, blood, and tears from post and translating it to a beautiful DCP in either 2k or 4k. If that's 2k I can't wait to see it in 4k!! I highly recommend you do the same and put your film in his hands because he will care for it as if it was your first born. read more

Easily some of the best customer service I've ever had - if you need a DCP made, go to The Archetype Company! This was my first time I needed a DCP made for my short film and I was pretty unfamiliar about the process and what was needed. However, the Archetype Company couldn't have made the submission process any easier; all you have to do is select some basic specifications for your project and you are given a quote which is very affordable and reasonably priced compared to other options I found. Then you get sent a link to upload your files and then The Archetype Company makes the DCP; that's it. Turnaround time on the website says that it's a few days but I only had to wait a single day for my final DCP after I sent the files over. On top of that, John was incredibly responsible with updates on the process and even notified me of an issue in my film that would impact its ability to be presented in theaters so that I could fix it before the DCP was finalized! Overall this entire experience could not have gone any better; I will absolutely be using The Archetype Company's services again in the future and you should too! read more

Let me just start with this: Archetype is awesome. The owner, John T. Woods, is not only super tech-savvy, super industry-savvy, but also happens to be a really nice guy and has amazing customer service. We had our Blu-rays mastered at Archetype to be distributed as a back-up for our Film Festival screenings. The Blu-rays were perfect, they came in nice clamshell cases and were labeled very clearly and professionally. But it was the playback of our film I was so impressed with - the 5.1 Channel Surround was dead on and our picture looked exactly like it did in our DCP QC and exactly like it did when it played at the TCL Chinese Theatres. I am not going to mention that John stopped by our production office to pick up our hard drive and offered to drop the Blu-rays off as well. Nope, not going to tell you that - because that is an insane level of customer service that I hope people don't take advantage of. So it's best not to mention it. I needed a DCP of my short film, along with two Blu-Ray copies as backups for festival screenings. I was recommended to go with John at Archetype, and I'm seriously never going anywhere else. Turnaround time: I sent my first message to John during the afternoon on Tuesday, and as I write this review at noon on Saturday, I've already received my DCP drive and Blu-rays. Not to mention, I couldn't even upload my original file until Wednesday night. It's unreal how good that turnaround is. Quality: the film itself looks absolutely pristine. I'm super happy with the quality of the work on the digital side of things, and the physical items supplied are top notch, from the Blu-Ray discs themselves to the sturdy case the DCP drive is in. Everything is labeled cleanly and professionally, and I'm excited to show it all off. Experience: communicating with John was such a breeze. He was always super quick to respond (and I don't even mean the "24 Hours or Less" that his website says; maybe I caught him at good times, but I genuinely never had to wait over an hour for a response). I love when you choose the rating of 5 stars, it says 'Woohoo! As good as it gets!' and that's certainly the truth with Archetype DVD! I was a little green regarding DVD duplication for a short film I produced. John was real awesome in fixing a framerate issue I had in order to duplicate the DVD's, had taken just an image and text that I provided and created the design of the label itself that would go on the DVD's (looks real cool!) and was very communicative and responsive throughout the whole process... In addition to John being a real kool kat, he turned around an order for me for 100 DVD's in under 6 hours AND (after researching online) it was LESS THAN HALF THE COST of some other post-production DVD duplicators out there... what what?! John has his own films that are submitted to film festivals, so he's well-versed with the ins and outs of different formats, standard and unique requirements, etc. I'll be hitting up Archetype DVD again for more DVD's if I need them, and when it potentially comes time for other formats for film festivals.
