While I've had good food from TAP, the last experience has me very disappointed and I won't be going back here again. I had a gift certificate from a little over five years ago and while wanted to spend it sooner, I didn't get the chance. So now that I had the opportunity, they tell me that the gift certificate was expired even though there was no expiration date on it. Apparently they only had records going back five years due to new ownership. While I get that the new owners can set their own rules, it still has left me as a (former) disappointed customer. read more

What a bummer. I remember Ample Pantry from my youth and it's definitely not the same business it used to be. Prices are extremely high and portions are very small and inconsistent. We ordered a pot roast dinner and a baked salmon dinner and picked them up. When I got home, I noticed the pot roast had four pieces of potato and a couple pieces of pot roast, but no carrots or any other vegetables. (see photo) I went to the website to see the meal description and saw that it did say it included carrots. I called to let them know, that a mistake was made, but instead of accepting it and apologizing , they said to look around because the carrots were in there! They definitely were not "under" anything or mixed in. I worked in catering at Pfizer for many years, and I know when an ingredient is missing!! I didn't want anything, didn't want a discount or a free meal. Just wanted to let them know that for the price they charge, the entrée should be as described on their website. It wasn't. The salad was fresh, the pie was good and the rolls were very good too. Just not worth $20 price of the entrée. We could go to Carrabbas or any number of local great restaurants and pay much less. It's a shame. This place will definitely go out of business soon with this kind of customer service and these kind of prices. There's much too much competition in local restaurants with better food, better prices, and better service. We will never, ever order from them again. Ample Pantry, DO BETTER!!! read more

I've visited The Ample Pantry for two dine-in lunches (they're mostly a caterer but they do have dine-in a couple of hours each day). There isn't much seating, but what they have is very prim and proper. It has an air of "your grandma's favorite place to go on days you take her for lunch away from the old folks' home." Think early 1990s upper-middle-class dining room. Very welcoming. Expect tasty and dainty homemade sandwiches, soups, and quiches. Service is always very quick (their homemade food seems ready for them to assemble into a cute little plate for you). If you're looking for a cute, light little lunch (soup and half sandwich, perhaps), Ample Pantry may well fit the bill. read more

Good portion of food that is made from scratch. Solid, filling, comfort food; it reminded me of eating at Grandmothers when she was still alive. So thank you much for the happy memory you brought back. I have also dined in. I think I was the only male doing that for lunch that day. It appears women enjoy the one on one atmosphere the quint/proper seating has to offer. I also much enjoyed the picnic basket the to go food came in. Overall I love this company! Used many times in the past. Purchased a gift certificate for a Christmas gift and included a driver tip. When recipient called to order was told they didn't deliver to his area....which they do as I live farther south and have delivery. He placed the order and had to go pick up which is across town. He is disabled which is why I purchased the certificate in the first place. Someone was not up to snuff on delivery area! Called company and was very apologetic but did not offer any consolation. This will not deter me from ordering again. read more

Absolutely LOVE the food here. My sister and I come in at least once a month. Very delicious chicken lasagna. The chicken salad sandwiches on croissants are sweet, crisp and fresh. The dining area is small but quaint; always makes us feel like we're home just sharing a meal. Everyone who works there are very polite and helpful. Overall, it's just home-style comfort food that even delivers. What more could you want than that? read more

Where the locals go for "homemade" take-out! I often order their beautiful fruit trays (with dip) for office birthdays (24 hrs advance order) or stop by on my way home from work for hot chicken casserole & salads. Broccoli salad w/raisins is wonderful, along with their soups and cookies. Need a casserole to help out a neighbor or last minute company? Let Ample Pantry do it all for you. Not bad. But definitely not good. They don't tell you when ordering for the first time that the food all comes uncooked and you should probably Pre-heat your oven right before its delivered. For the amount of money you could spend at red lobster to feed four, we ordered a chicken lasagna which was...okay at best. Came with delicious cookies and some broccoli, but the whole thing wasn't really enough for four adults. To make the whole thing at home would probably cost 20% what they charge and not take much more time than waiting for the delivery. I decided to give this place a try, I've been to most of the Kalamazoo hot spots food wise and heard a lot about the ample pantry. To make a long story short I had quite a experience! first off when I walked in the lady who greeted me was on the phone and told me to wait a little and handed me a menu, when the lady got off her phone call she asked me what I would like. I ordered the chicken tetrazzini and a salad. It took a while for my Order to be ready and I waited in there small "restaurant" with maybe 3 or 4 tables in the front entrance. I walked around admiring all the pictures on the walls and the knick knacks lying around and I was looking at something near the fireplace and when I looked down I noticed what I thought was rat droppings. I really really did not want to believe that was what I was looking at so I kind of put it past my mind. Finally my food was ready and they handed me a to go container that resembled a picnic basket. I did not want to eat in this restaurant and I live near by so I took my lunch home. When I plated my food I noticed that the chicken was pink when I cut into it, When I tasted it, it was completely raw in the middle. Completely disgusted I threw it out and went in for the salad. "How can someone mess up a salad right?" I thought to my self... I was wrong. I found a small white bit of something in the greens it was very hard it resembled bone or a tooth. I still have no idea what that was, I immediately called the restaurant and explained my experience to a man named Bill. This man called me a liar, when I told him I seen rat droppings near the fire place he said that is impossible because they never had a rodent in the building, I told him the chicken was raw, he said that never happens and he watched my meal be prepared and proceeded to yell at me and that I'm only out for a free meal. I am completely appalled as to how they handle there restaurant I'm amazed they have stayed in business this many years with how rude there employees are and I'm worried about how our health department runs as I can't not see how they passed food regulations. I have already contacted the better business bureau and the Kalamazoo health department. If you care about cleanliness and your health please don't eat here. read more

The Ample Pantry has provided my son with fresh homemade meals like he is used to getting at home. He attends Western Michigan University and cannot always make it back to campus for meals. He is so much happier now knowing every day he can get a different delicious meal or as an option pop in for lunch. They make it so convenient.
