Portions were huge and prices were right in line with a typical restaurant, so the value was great too. It was 100+ degrees outside on July 5th, and the staff let us bring our dog Sarah in out of the heat, which we really appreciated. The young lady who helped us was friendly and professional the whole time, and it turns out she has a dog that looks just like Sarah, named Zoey. Small world. The brisket is tender, well seasoned and overall very good. The bbq sauce was tasty, I would have preferred a bit more kick, but good. The collard greens were good, not like my Mama made them, but good. The rice with the oxtail gravy was tasty. The corn was good and had some heat. The beef ribs were not as tender as I would like (I am a pork rib kinda girl) but they weren't bad. The only thing that I really didn't like was the squash. I make squash and onions all the time and I could not place what was off. The closest I can come is maybe they had sat too long or the oil was old? I'm not sure but they were sadly disappointing. All and all it was a pleasant experience and we will likely be back. Definitely worth the stop if you are driving through Barstow.

Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes.
