Prices are def great compared to other prices around. You also have the chance to test up in belt level and compete for a price, too. Classes: repetitive as necessary to master the skill. Easy to fit in, but you do have to work to advance. They give fair opportunity to each student. Instructors usually do their best to keep students happily and actively involved. Instructors: I really have no issues with the instructors. One teenage instructor, if not teenager then very young, has moments where he seems irritated. I can't tell if he is being sarcastic in a joking way or not. But again, they all do their best to give everyone equal attention and fair treatment. Schedules - so I'm a little confused. Sometimes they start 5 mins early, other times 15. Same for ending time. Either way, they usually get more than the scheduled 40 mins so it's a bang for your buck. Some parents become upset, as I've noticed, when they're asked to follow rules such as no calls inside the lobby. Even when their kids don't follow rules (restroom before class and not disrupting class) they get upset - so it's no wonder the children are having issues with authority. Basically, being a concerned and caring parent makes a difference in success here. I think everything here is reasonable. My children have enjoyed their time so far and we look forward to what is to come!

Chayon Ryu means, 'Natural Way System' - we should move in ways that are bio-mechanically friendly & efficient for humans to move. This reduces the chances for injury or long term wear & tear on the joints, and maximizes the speed & power one can develop. There are many students and instructors here who have been training for 20, 30, 40 years and their health & mobility reflect this. This is a place to train to improve the quality of your life, rather than win trophies or bar fights ;-)

This is a traditional martial arts school - not a club or a place to hang out and try a few tricks/techniques. Injuries are very rare as students and instructors treat each other with respect and patience. I started studying Chayon-Ryu when I was in high school as an almost desperate attempt to end the bullying I experienced for most of my childhood. Chayon-Ryu instilled valuable skills, confidence and life-long friendships into me. Train for more than a couple of years and the benefits, beyond learning how to kick and punch, will pour forth into your life. And if you have any children interested in learning karate, Master Sean Kim is FANTASTIC. I have never seen someone so great with kids. He is super patient and is so good at teaching the youngest of the students self-control and discipline. Try a few lessons out and I am sure you will not be disappointed.

She has met a lot of friendly kids and has gained so much confidence, pride, and athletic skill since beginning her lessons in August. She works out HARD, but willingly does her very best. Classes are inexpensive. We pay under $160 per month and that gives her two classes and one sparring lesson per week. That's 12 classes per month. I highly recommend checking this place out. I've seen all age groups: Younger kids, tweens and teens. I think there are some adult classes, but we've not gone to them (she is much too young). There is a team, but she's new and wasn't confident to try out for the team just yet. Maybe next year!
