I can't say enough good things about Heritage. I was instantly amazed by the way the way things were operating the second I walked in. No mistake though because it's ran by Michael Corley. The instructors at Heritage Muay Thai are carefully selected and trained to provide high-quality instruction and it 100% shows. At EVERY level as well. Our family was in town for a couple of months checking out Houston so we enrolled our daughter and son here for their kid's Muay Thai program. We were so impressed with the instructors care and attention to the kids, nothing is missed. You will see kids called out who are cutting corners as well as instructors who take time to correct form and technique no matter how many kids are in class, which could vary between 10 - 25+ per class. It was a 45 minute class and not one minute is wasted. The warm ups, exercises, and learning is constant. Heart rate, stamina, and strength is all being pushed to the limit and that's how it's supposed to be done. I love that this is a serious class that still keeps it fun and you can see the children are enjoying themselves while getting stronger and learning real life skills. I was tempted to move to Houston just because of how much I loved this gym. If we stayed here, I would have enrolled myself as well. With no prior marital art experience, I looked into Muay Thai gyms around Houston, and Heritage Muay Thai has everything you want on paper. High level fighters and coaches that fight at the professional level and amateur level. The owner himself, Michael Chase Corley, is the president of the US Muay Thai Federation, and he's active with the classes too. So on paper, it looked great which led me to do the 3 class trial. Right off the bat, the environment was welcoming. The coaches know what they're doing and take the time to break down the technique. The other members are encouraging and genuinely want each other to improve, no matter the experience level. Once you walk in, egos are left at the door and you get to be engulfed in Muay Thai and it's culture. A great Muay Thai Training Center, I specifically say Muay Thai because that is what you will learn, all the techniques, nuances and styles, it's not just MMA or self defense or whatever it is that's popular this week, it's pure Muay Thai, it's very challenging and there are some serious "beasts" that train here (both professionally and as amateurs) as well as young blue collared/white collared workers too. 2. Cardio Kickboxing is great for an intensive workout, Beginner Muay Thai is great for..well beginners but is very important and intermediate to advanced is also very challenging and fun. 3. Everyone I met was very friendly and very willing to teach you even at the most beginner level all you have to do is ask. 4. No contracts (most gyms of this caliber require some kind of 1-year contract), 1-week free trial is no hassle with zero pressure sales tactics, just come in sign a waiver and your good to go (but come dressed in appropriate gym gear for class, no jean shorts, thongs etc.) 5. It is also significantly cheaper than other MMA gyms in the area, and they have some adjustable rates to meet your needs. 6. The head coaches Michael and Bob are very friendly and great coaches that are very approachable, easy to talk to and have a great deal of knowledge and experience to draw from. 7. I initially looked for another style of martial arts gym and happened to come across Heritage Muay Thai. With all the great reviews, I decided to take my daughter to try it out. Coach Jeremy was so nice and showed us around the gym. Since, I had never heard of Muay Thai, he gave me a brief description of what it was and some of the history. I was surprised to find out you can attend any class a day and throughout the week for the price. I signed us BOTH up and started training the next day. The coaches are generous enough to let you borrow gloves and shin guards if you don't have any. My daughter has finally found something she enjoys doing and I see her trying hard to master it. She looks up to Bekkah Irwin and wants to fight like her one day. She's also gotten the opportunity to train one on one with Coach Michael. He's so good with the kids and very patient. I've seen a great improvement since shes trained with him. I had never done any type of martial arts so I was very out of my element when I started but everyone there was very welcoming and didn't mind taking the time to show me the combinations. I wanted to improve so I started doing private sessions with Coach Jeremy. He's worked so hard to get me to be comfortable and understands that I learn at a different pace. I have not been going here for long but have had a fantastic experience since the start and plan to stay for a very long time. For a couple of years, I struggled to find a gym that i felt comfortable at, was affordable, and that I actually enjoyed going to. I found Houston Muay Thai online through google searches and could not be happier. Before i could even get past the check-in desk on the first day, one of the staff / members of the gym started talking to me and offered to help teach me some basic punches and kicks that I would need to know for the class. In my short time at the gym, I have come to learn that everyone is incredibly helpful and the gym seems to have a genuine team atmosphere that not only pushes each person to develop their technical abilities and skills in Muay Thai, but also pushes everyone to get a good workout in. The coaches are very experienced and do a great job of creating classes that develop strength/stamina and most importantly technique. I've only been coming to Houston Muay Thai for roughly a month or so, but I absolutely LOVE it. The only other training I've had in Houston was at a kickboxing/BJJ gym, which was great also, but the price was EASILY at least 2.5x what I'm paying at Houston Muay Thai. The coaches in Coach Kru Bob and Coach Michael Corely are top notch. The real-EFFING-deal! The 30 minute fitness kickboxing class in an ass - kicker for sure, which can definitely help anyone out who's looking for the strong cardio aspect of the sport. Because all the students/coaches are so welcoming and friendly, you can rest assured you won't feel like the new guy if it's your first day trying out the fitness kickboxing, the beginners Muay Thai class, or the more advanced class that follows. Don't let the fact that the other classes don't have the words "fitness" or "cardio" in them, you'll be sweating the entire time too. In the few weeks I've been coming to this gym, I'm very surprised and pleased in how much I've learned and advanced in Muay Thai. There's an immense amount of room for improvement, but this gym makes learning this sport/art extremely fun, while also keeping the discipline aspect in mind too. This review is based on the one month I've been coming to Houston Muay Thai. In the past I've dabbled in different martial arts styles and personally love training in combat sports. As with many young professionals in Houston who work in the inner loop we sometime fall at the mercy of time when it comes to our fitness schedule. Houston Muay Thai being right next to the Toyota center was the perfect location for the kind of workout's I've been craving since I started searching for a gym of this type. The Atmosphere: It's a little intimidating when you first walk in, as if you're someone used to working out in traditional gyms like 24 hour fitness or LA fitness its far from it. As you can see from other review's pictures there's a ring and heavy punching bags when you walk in. Don't be surprised when you walk in you're greeted by the sounds of people yelling, the sounds of bags being pummeled, the sounds of loud buzzers, and occasionally upbeat music. This is all part of the ambiance that helps put you in that mood to get in there and give it your all. The Workout: First thing's first, as one of the coaches said. This is Muay Thai, it's a combat sport so please take that info for what it's worth. The Cardio kickboxing class is killer compared to Les Mill's Body Combat offered at many local gyms. The techniques and routines the coaches put you through are something you can take and use as what I like to say is "practical training." Les Mills, those classes are so big they don't teach you a proper jab, uppercut or even kicks, all the instructors expect is for you to move. That's good and all but if you're going to train in cardio that's titled "combat" why not go somewhere that is legitimate in their techniques when training? Muay Thai classes come in 3 levels, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced. Personally so far I have only gone to the beginner classes trying to pick up on this new style to me and it's technique. The Staff and Memebers: My first encounter with Houston Muay Thai was thanks to a friend who trains there and sent me information on a special they had going on, so I opted to take her up on the offer with a, " what do I have to lose" attitude. I was greeted by the head coach Michal Chase Coreley whose name popped up a lot when I asked a lot of my friends who train in Muay Thai who would they train with. That being said, you would expect for someone who's name is apparently well known around when speaking of the sport he would be somewhat intimidating. On the contrary he was a very welcoming and informative coach to me and so far everyone I've seen him interact with at the gym. The same can be said about the other coaches in the different classes. They take the time and keep a watchful eye on the students during training to not only correct improper techniques but also give pointers on how to improve as well. Their attention to details really point out why Houston Muay Thai can be easily called the city's if not the state's best Muay Thai training facility. The members of Houston Muay Thai are obviously from all different walks of life, but once we step on the mat and put on the glove's and shin pads I see that we are all equals. There is a good amount students in each class, women please do not feel this is a gym over flowing with testosterone, there is a good number of female students as well. Most of the memebers of all levels are really helpful. New or old they all have their own input while doing the drills to help each other out. And as most people are wondering but won't say it out loud, I have yet to encounter the typical types of gym dbags and ahole's everyone hates to encounter in these types of gyms. So definitely that's a major plus from all angles. In Conclusion: I would highly suggest if you're looking for a relaxed atmosphere with an intense work out this is the spot. If you wanna take your cardio to a next level, this is your spot. I've been here only a month and have seen and felt results already. Pictures and words can only say so much so I suggest you take them up on their special ( if it's still available) or just drop in to try a workout and prepare yourself for a workout of a lifetime. read more

I've been taking the fitness kickboxing classes here for about three weeks. This is not a silly aerobics class with a few punches thrown in here and there. It's a pretty intense workout for 30 minutes. I've had to stop several times out of sheer exhaustion. So it's a great, efficient workout. It's also super fun to kick and punch a bag to get the grumpies out. They have a morning, noon, and evening class, so it's easier to fit in a busy schedule. If you want to try it, bring a lot of water and a towel - you'll be pretty sweaty afterwards. read more

As sprints are my moral enemy, I've been looking for another High Intensity Interval Training workout. The cardio kickboxing class at Houston Muy Thai is exactly the training I was looking for. This is not Tai Bo or a 24 hour fitness kickboxing class, but a bona fide Muy Thai kickboxing gym. You use handwraps with your boxing gloves and hit heavy bags. The genuine atmosphere really adds more intensity to the workout. I've only been attending the 5:30pm-6:00pm cardio class Monday through Thursday, but Muy Thai kickboxing courses are also offered. The cardio coach, Olivier, provides a punch/kick combination that everyone works on a heavy bag. He then comes around to each person for some individual pad work. Ten kicks on each leg mixed in with some plyometrics is absolutely exhausting! Definitely recommended for a great workout! read more

I usually attend the Monday - Thursday 5:30 - 6:00 pm Cardio Kickboxing class and I have been very happy about the structure of the class. The owner has a really good knack for picking serious instructors for his classes, ones who are consistent in making our class break a sweat. The owners are also exceptional instructors. Typically, you will start out with a warm-up round hitting the heavy bags with whatever combination you like. Then the instructor (Oliver) will give you different Muay Thai combos, (punches, kicks, knees, elbows) while he goes around to give each person their own pad work. It is always challenging the body. Just when your muscles have memorized a particular combo, he will change it up so that it stays challenging. I find the pad work and combo mix-ups crucial to breaking a good sweat. In between all this, he will give you different workout moves to do just to intensify the workout. It is hard work but it is not intimidating; he has no problem showing you what you need to do if you don't understand something. The best part is that it is all done in half an hour, right after work for me, and it is always worth it. read more

As someone in their 40's I was a little reluctant to join thinking this was a place for young people to work out however, I had nothing to lose but weight. The coaches here are awesome! You always feel welcome and everyone is willing to help you out on technique and to push you to do your best. The classes vary in description, there are beginner classes, Thai pad classes and advanced. I have not had the opportunity to try the fitness class due to scheduling on my end but everyone who takes this class seem like they put in a full days workout.
