My fiancé and I decided to get some Krav Maga training prior to our overseas honeymoon- ya know, just to feel more confident as two females traveling alone so far from home. Well, that's exactly what we gained- AND MORE! Not only did we learn helpful moves should we encounter less than pleasant situations, but we also got in a great workout, and met some Krav Maga friends to make the training even that much more enjoyable. I've always been curious about Krav Maga and martial arts, but never actually tried it until I saw their "Krav Maga and Kickboxing" sign on S. Mason Road. I emailed them with the intent of only doing kickboxing, but after trying out both classes, I'm hooked on BOTH! The owner and his instructors gave me personalized instruction during my introductory class and made me feel very comfortable. I liked the atmosphere, totally not intimidating like I had imagined. They have classes late morning and in the evenings and if you sign up for both classes, you can go to as many classes a day for the same price! A total deal. A total awesome workout. I'm so pumped! This is a great school for self defense--I have learned more here than I could have even imagined in only a few short months. Larry's keen eye for correcting any mistakes you might be making in a concise, but not unkind, way is wonderful. He is always upbeat and makes the class fun to attend--you don't really think of it as a "class" or "workout" at the end of the day but it is--you learn a lot, break a sweat and have a lot of fun doing it. Last week, my company took Larry's self defense course for our team-building activity, and it was by far one of the coolest experiences I've had in Houston. As a bigger/obese guy, I was concerned that I'd find it difficult to keep up in the class, but despite my weight, Larry made me feel comfortable in the class and was upbeat the entire time. Went here a couple of years ago but I remembered Larry making the class fun but still very practical.

I loved this! My daughter wanted to take a self defense course before going to college. I took the class with her and was super impressed! They were gentle with an "aging slightly injured" mom. In Day one we learned self defense techniques that were practical and greatly encouraged both of us. Looking forward to the lessons to come. Texas Krav Maga is a great place to learn practical defense or do Kick boxing. Larry charges a flat fee so you can attend as many classes as you like, no weekly or monthly limits like other schools. I highly recommend attending the Saturday morning session, so that you can learn firearm defense. They are also host several joint lock, knife defense, etc seminars throughout the year which anyone can attend. read more

Signed our staff up for the Self Defense Class at Texas Krav Maga. It was hands-down the best team building event we've had, and we've done a lot of cool stuff. Both the men and the women received personalized tips based on their height, build, hair, contents of their purse or backpacks to defend themselves from the most likely attack scenarios. We all walked out of there a foot taller than when we came in. Larry instantly made us feel comfortable there, and many of us had zero experience with any martial arts of any kind. I've been working out at Texas Krav Maga and Kickboxing since May 2014, with no prior martial arts experience, or knowing how to throw a punch. I started because I needed to be more active; I work late nights in a big building by myself a lot, and I thought it'd be nice to know how to defend myself if something went south. For a year I just did Krav, and when the schedule changed to allow me to do kickboxing as well, I jumped at the chance. Larry and his team of instructors are quite patient with the explanations required for every technique, and I've never been made to feel foolish when I just couldn't get something right. A year and a half later, and I'm in the best shape of my life, and I competed at a national level on my collegiate sailing team. Never previously flexible or one with upper body strength, I can now touch my nose to my knees, kick my friends (lightly) in the head, and for the first time in my whole LIFE, I've been able to do a pull up. My resting heart rate is lower than it was in college (15+ years ago), my balance has improved, and my blood pressure that had been slowly creeping up is within a healthy range. I can see muscles I haven't seen since all those years ago when I spent hours a week sailing, and now I'm not just stronger, I can also defend myself against a myriad of attacks from people who are much larger and stronger than I am. We've got 3 boys, and I can keep up with them so much better than I could before I started. I no longer just laugh at their suggestions of playing two-hand touch football with them. I can get in there and keep up. I'm strong enough now to get across the monkey bars with them for the first time in my life, and I was even able to match my 8 year old baseball catcher turn for turn in a heated game of Twister. Two years ago, I wouldn't have made it a minute in a game of Twister. I've learned empowering and invaluable lessons on self-defense techniques, I've made friends, I've laughed, I've sweated a lot, and I've taken out a TON of frustration on those bags. There are not many other things that make an aggravating day feel better than beating the ever living snot out of a heavy bag. read more

This is one of the best comprehensive training classes in the arts that I have taken. Larry is a great coach and the atmosphere is very friendly. No matter what your skill level is you will find that you will fit in with ease. The kids program is also an excellent choice to build confidence and be able to safely defend themselves in given situations. read more
