Alice is fabulous. She does a great job and her prices are fair. She helped with my daughter's prom dress and the outcome is great.

I took my wedding dress here and she waited two months to tell me that she couldn't alter it in time. She was leaving to go out of town for three weeks the day after I called so I was able to go get my dress before she left thankfully. read more

Excellent service! Should be posted as an alterations business. The staff here is well experienced. They can do something as simple as a hem, but know more than enough to do alterations on wedding dresses. The location is well kept and you can try on your clothing without hassle. $7 for hem. I don't even know where to start with this place. The manager, Alice, is the rudest person ever. I came here to get a prom dress altered. I brought the dress in about a month before the prom, and they did not have it ready until THE DAY BEFORE THE PROM. Also, when I came in that day, I was politely explaining to Alice that I needed the dress the next day, and she rudely cut me off in the middle of my sentence. Also, they charged me $107 for the alterations, and they didn't even offer me a discount for the wait and their rudeness. I am NEVER coming back here to get anything done, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is a waste of time, money, and energy. There was another alternation store in Sumter that I used to go to who would sew my uniform shirts. But unfortunately they went out of business and I was referred to this store. This staff ignored me outright, and were very rude and unhelpful. As I never wanted to learn how to sew, I go to stores like this to help with something I need done. That is the nature of their business, to help customers, is it not? I only needed one TINY thing done to a pair of pants, the button to be tightened. Nothing fancy. I have a friend who can do something like that in five minutes but she was out of town at the time. When I mentioned what I wanted done, I got alot of hemming and hawing about how BUSY they were, with all the prom dresses. So it was prom time. I didn't care. I came as a customer who wanted some help. After seeing I was NOT going to take my pants and be SOL, they said they might get to it later after all the dresses. MAYBE. I was referred to come back before they closed at 5 pm. Why I went along with this, I will never know! I had the day off so I went home, sat around and came back as they asked. When I walked in, the staff left seemed irate someone DARED walk in ten minutes to closing, despite someone who worked there told me to do this. Despicable behavior. Then when I asked if my pants were done, the staff seemed very uninterested in searching for my clothing! When the one clerk deigned to get off her big rump and go look for them, she said snidely they didnt' have a chance to get to my one button. In the sea of prom dresses they had, mind you. I was shunted to the bottom of the barrel and when I came back at the time THEY TOLD ME, they didn't even know where my article of clothing was, never mind having done something that I know only takes five minutes. I said, thanks but no thanks, took my pants and left. Luckily my friend opted to help me when she came back home. NEVER COME To this place unless you like being treated like less than a customer. Who would have paid for their services! I haven't been treated that badly in an establishment in quite a long time. All these ladies need to be replaced or go to a manners and etiquette course. I haven't even been there but read one good review and one very bad one, so decided to call to get an idea of prices before going!! The woman answered the phone like she was already having a bad day!! I asked if she could give me an idea of what it would cost to sew a patch on a leather vest. Instead of asking me what size and other pertinent questions, she said, "honey, there's all kinds of sizes of patches, whether it needs to be sewn over a pocket or where it's placed, there's all kinds of things, I can't quote a price over the phone without seeing it!" And then she let out this big sigh!! I said, "It sounds like you're not interested in helping me!" And she replied, "Well there's just no way for me to tell what you have without seeing it, there's big patches, small patches, there's so many things I'd need to know!" So I said, "Ok, how about a general quote for a 2 in. by 1 in. patch on the front of a leather vest, not over a pocket, can you quote me a price for that???" But she acted like she was still talking and said "so we're open till 5:30, just bring it in and ..." and I tried to interrupt to say I was disabled and needed to call around for quotes first, but she didn't stop talking, as if I was going to say something unimportant..."so we're open till 5 so just come in and we'll look at it!" I said, "I was referred to you and looked online to see 2 reviews, 1 bad and 1 good, I think after this phone call, I'm going to call somewhere else and looks like you'll now have 2 bad reviews!!" And she started to say, "well that's up to you...." but I just hung up, without a thank you, like I usually do, because there was nothing to thank her for, or well,... yes, I should have thanked her for helping me figure out where NOT to go!! Very rude!! I'm from NY and this woman was more rude than I would ever be!! Listen to my review and then look for the other bad review, they only show the positive one, you have to search for the 2nd one, and go somewhere else, unless you have an expensive bunch of dresses, then I bet she'd be real nice if it was a costly affair!! Little does she realize, I would have brought her so much business from our motorcycle club, she could have made some really good money and gotten sole business from specific motorcycle clubs all around!! Her loss! She needs an attitude adjustment and learn to be nicer on the phone!! I know she's probably busy, but really,.... who isn't?? So take the time out of your busy-ness and answer the phone nicely and be helpful on the phone, is that too much to ask??? She needs to move back up north!! (And she had a northern accent, so no I'm not just assuming!!) VERY RUDE!!! Don't waste your time!!
